Community is an important social studies standard for kindergarten and first grade. Learning about communities as a kindergartener or a 1st grader needs to be meaningful for kids, and something they can relate to in their own worlds and lifestyles.

In this charming video compilation that teaches about communities for kindergarten and communities for 1st grade, your child will be able to answer the question, “What is a community?” When learning about community, kids learn how they and their family and friends fit in bigger pictures of their world and in their bigger communities at large.

They’ll learn that a community is a place where people live together, full of many places to visit and many people to see. They’ll individually walk through the colorful worksheets that ask them, “What Is A Neighbor?” and “What Do You See In A Community,” as well as learn social studies for kindergarten and first grade standards.

As they travel through the various community-focused activities, they’ll also learn about neighbors for grade 1, and that neighbors live near each other in communities. This video also walks students through various worksheets that teach about kindergarten community concepts and 1st grade community concepts, including what makes a home a home for people in a community. The video also helps reinforce important family sight words like mother, father, sister and brother, and with engaging pictures and the teacher’s clear descriptions, makes community for kids a concept with which they can identify.

As our children continue to cement their places in the bigger, global community, helping them understand community terms and concepts in their own little worlds allows them to be knowledgeable citizens and good neighbors in their neighborhoods, classrooms, towns and countries. Kids Academy videos are the perfect way to show students how to understand and fit in their own communities.

Regions of the USA | Geography for Kids | Kids Academy

Make social studies for 3rd grade interesting with videos that engage your learners! These videos bring the early history of the United States alive with facts and information given to students in smaller, manageable "mini" lessons.

It might surprise your students to find out that Native American tribes had different languages, art, and beliefs. The video includes a brief look at several larger tribes such as the Sioux, Apache, Cherokee, and Navajo.

The Kids Academy US history for kids collection continues the United States' story with a video on the founding of the Jamestown colony in 1607. Discover why people sailed from England to North America and view where Jamestown was located and what the colony looked like.
Further exploration of the original 13 colonies gives students basic information on how the settlement of North America continued after the Jamestown colony. These original colonies eventually became states. At one time, the American flag only had 13 stars—not 50 as we have today.

With the formation of a new country, new holidays and traditions emerged. Videos explaining the American holidays of Thanksgiving and Independence Day instruct students on how and why these traditions started.

Finally, the last video introduces children to American inventors that changed the world as we know it. Meet Samuel Morse, Alexander Graham Bell, and the Wright Brothers. These innovators made the world a "smaller" place with advances in communication and travel. Samuel Morse gave the world Morse code. The code allowed for communication across long distances. Alexander Graham Bell went further with telephones, and The Wright Brothers paved the way to travel across countries in airplanes.

This compilation of videos is ideal for use in classes teaching US History for 3rd graders. Spark your students' interest in the history of the founding of the United States of America.

00:00 Start
00:05 Native Americans
08:21 - History of Thanksgiving Day
11:27 - The 13 American colonies
15:20 - Independence Day, July 4th
18:45 - American inventors

It's Kids Academy and welcome back to our channel! Social studies for kids is an essential subject in their initial classes. The three very important lessons of social studies are recycling, civil rights and the right to vote. Let’s describe these concepts in simpler words for kids.

Recycling simply means converting waste material into something new that can be used effectively. There are many materials that are being recycled today including plastic bags, tin cans, bottles, thrown away paper, juice cartons, and many more. Recycling is important because it saves the earth from pollution and is an efficient use of energy.

Civil rights are the rights that are observed to protect the freedom of common people from the government, private individuals and social organizations. One of the very important rights given by civil rights is the right to vote.

Every person in a country, satisfying the legal requirements of nationality, has the right to vote and elect the political public representatives, mostly the president. Every person 18 years of age or older has the right to vote.
It is necessary for a kid to know their rights in a state, it enables them to have a better understanding of the law and defending themselves in times of need.
