Trigonometry on Khan Academy: Big, fancy word, right? Don't be fooled. Looking at the prefix, tri-, you could probably assume that trigonometry ("trig" as it's sometimes called) has something to do with triangles. You would be right! Trig is the study of the properties of triangles. Why is it important? It's used in measuring precise distances, particularly in industries like satellite systems and sciences like astronomy. It's not only space, however. Trig is present in architecture and music, too. Now you may wonder...how is knowing the measurement and properties of triangles relevant to music?? THAT is a great question. Maybe you'll learn the answer from us in these tutorials!

**** Sorry I made a mistake at 00:49 I incorrectly label and describe the thigh adductors as hip abductors. The thigh adductors pull the legs together when they contract.*******
I cover many of the major muscles of the human body.
The Pectoralis major: is a thick, fan-shaped muscle, situated at the chest of the human body.
The Bicep is a large muscle that lies on the front of the upper arm between the shoulder and the elbow. Its main function is to flexes and twists the forearm.
The abdominal muscles support the trunk, allow movement and hold organs in place
The sartorius muscle is the longest muscle in the human body. It is a long, thin, superficial muscle that runs down the length of the thigh This muscle helps you cross your legs
The abductor muscle group is located on the lateral side of the thigh and moves the thigh away from the bodyโs midline.
The trapezius muscle resembles a trapezoid or diamond-shaped quadrilateral
It helps support the weight of the arm and move the shoulder
The Deltoid forms the rounded contour of the human shoulder. It is a prime mover of arm
The latissimus dorsi is the largest muscle in the upper body.It is responsible for extension, adduction, internal rotation of the shoulder. This muscle helps you do pull ups at the gym.
The serratus anterior is a muscle that originates on the surface of the 1st to 8th ribs at the side of the chest. It acts to pull the scapula forward around the thorax.
External oblique The external oblique functions to pull the chest downwards and compress the abdominal cavity, It also performs (same side) side-bending and (opposite side) rotation
The brachioradialis is a muscle of the forearm that flexes the forearm at the elbow. For example, using a hammer.
Finger extensions include 9 extensor muscles found in the posterior side of the forearm and extend the hand and fingers.
Finger flexors help you close your hand
Quadriceps is a large muscle group that includes the four prevailing muscles on the front of the thigh. These muscles are the great extensor muscle of the knee
Hamstrings a hamstring is one of the three posterior thigh muscles in between the hip and the knee The hamstrings cross and act upon two joints โ the hip and the knee
The gastrocnemius forms half of the calf muscle. Its function is flexing the foot at the ankle joint and flexes the leg at the knee joint.
Tibialis anterior It is responsible for flexing the foot backward and inverting the foot.
The soleus is a powerful muscle in the back part of the lower leg aka (the calf). It runs from just below the knee to the heel, and is involved in standing and walking.
The infraspinatus muscle is a thick triangular muscle It is one of the four muscles of the rotator cuff, itโs main function is to rotate the humerus and stabilize the shoulder joint.
The teres major helps rotate the humerus and assists the latissimus dorsi in drawing the previously raised humerus downwards and backward.
Triceps is a large muscle on the back of the upper arm It is responsible for straightening the arm.
The gluteus medius is a muscle that helps with hip movement
When you walk and run it aids in stabilizing your pelvis, in particular when you perform activities where you balance on a single leg.
Gluteus maximus is the main extensor muscle of the hip You use the gluteus maximus when you stand up from a chair, sprint, run, and go up steps.
Correction:
0:49 Sorry I made a mistake. The muscles in dark blue, labeled as โabductorsโ, are in fact the โAdductorโ group. They are the muscles that draw your legs toward the midline and assist with medial rotation also known as crossing your legs.
A quick example of how to rewrite a complex equations that involves more than one fraction. I use the method of fraction busting to create an equivalent equation without fractions.
The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) call for increasing levels of text complexity across grade levels, to ensure that students become proficient with college and career texts by their high school graduation. In the first of a two-part series, Dr. Elfrieda (Freddy) Hiebert will discuss why vocabulary is a primary means of increasing English Language Learners' capacity with complex text, in addition to discussing how instruction in particular types of vocabulary (e.g., picturable & compound words) can lay a foundation for reading many complex texts. In Dr. Hiebert's second session, she will provide lessons and guidance for teaching the vocabulary of individual texts.
Note: Participants are asked to read Text Complexity and English Learners: Building Vocabulary before the webinars.

Do you know what an abbreviation is or how to make one? An abbreviation is a shortened form of a word or phrase. You can make one by taking letters out and replacing them with other letters or symbols, such as a period. In this video, you and your kids will learn about some common abbreviations, many of which you probably use every day.
One of the most common abbreviations has to do with the time of day. We use a.m. in the morning hours and p.m. in the evening and night hours. What do those actually stand for? "Ante meridiem" is Latin for before noon, so we use a.m. for all the times before noon. "Post meridiem" is Latin for after noon, so we use p.m. for all the times after noon.
Other common abbreviations involve days of the week, months of the year, measurement, and time. For example, we can write Sat. for Saturday or Dec. for December rather than writing out the whole word. In recipe books, you will often find abbreviations for their measurements, like tsp for teaspoon or oz for ounce. And you've probably seen abbreviations like min for minutes or yr for year.
We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about abbreviations! If you want even more practice, head over to our website and download one of our many free lesson plans, full of activities, worksheets, and more!

This organic chemistry video tutorial explains difference between chiral molecules and achiral molecules and how to find them by drawing a line of symmetry. It shows you how to identify the chirality centers or carbon atoms with 4 different groups as well as determining the number of stereoisomers using the formula 2^n where n is the number of stereocenters or asymmetric carbon atoms. This video also helps you to identify a pair of meso compounds which are identical to each other and a possess an internal plane of symmetry. It also discusses how to find a pair of enantiomers which are non-superimposable mirror images of each other such as your left hand and your right hand. Enantiomers lack an internal plane of symmetry.

New to Makey Makey? Or having trouble getting your Makey Makey to work? Here's a video walk-through of how to plug in your invention kit for the first time and check that all of the components are working. To learn more about what you can do with Makey Makey, check out our website: http://www.makeymakey.com where we have free project guides and new booster kits!
If you run through these troubleshooting steps and any of the components do not seem to be functioning correctly, contact us at support@joylabz.com. If your Makey Makey is still under warranty, we will gladly replace the part that is not working.
---------------------------------------------
TROUBLESHOOTING
1) When troubleshooting, open the piano app on our website, so we can rule out problems with any other software you might be using: http://www.makeymakey.com/piano
2) Plug the Makey Makey board into your computer's USB port with the red USB cable.
-- Does the red LED on the Makey Makey board light up?
-- Do the green LEDs light up in sequence and then shut off? (This indicates the board is checking the connections.)
3) Just using your hands (not the alligator clips yet), touch the silver EARTH bar at the bottom of the board with one finger and, at the same time, touch any of the silver arrow keys (UP, DOWN, LEFT, and RIGHT) on the Makey Makey board. The individual green LEDS should light up when a connection is made, and the on-screen piano should play music.
-- If you're someplace less humid, try moistening your fingers.
-- If the piano keys changed color on screen, but there was no sound, check the volume on your computer.
-- If the green LEDs light up but the on-screen piano did not respond at all, you may have a faulty USB cable. [If you happen to have a spare mini USB (the Makey Makey end) to USB Type-A cable (or USB Type-C if you are connecting to a newer Apple laptop), it is worth trying that USB cable.]
-- If the green LEDS do not light up when you touch EARTH with one finger and any of the arrow keys on the Makey Makey board with another finger, the problem may be with the board itself.
4) If everything in the steps above has worked, we can test your alligator clips. Pick any color of alligator clip and plug one end of the clip to any of the six EARTH inputs along the bottom of the Makey Makey board. With the other end of the clip, touch the silver input pad labelled SPACE.
-- If the on-screen piano makes music when you use your hands, but it doesn't work when you use the alligator clips, you might have defective alligator clips. Switch the alligator clip you are using, and test each of them!
If something still isn't functioning correctly, let us know which component is not working based on the troubleshooting steps above. Send us an email at support@joylabz.com.
It can also help if you email us photos of the front and back of your Makey Makey board and/or let us know:
-- Version number printed on the back of your Makey Makey (for example: โv1.5โ or โv1.6bโ; look on the back under โMakey Makeyโ).
-- Computer Operating System and OS release number that you are using with Makey Makey (for example: โWindows 10โ or โmacOS 10.13.6โ or โiOS 10โ).
-- Where and when you purchased your Makey Makey (for example: the order number from our online store or receipt from an authorized reseller).
