Teaching measurement and comparing lengths has many benefits. Young children that have a good understanding of measurement have the skills to compare attributes of objects and classify things in their environments in different ways. Measurement links math to their everyday lives, other school subjects, and increases understanding of number concepts and spatial skills.

Think of activities that go beyond the video lessons. Comparing length for kids is more fun when learning is extended. Compare the heights of children in the home or classroom. In the classroom, who has the longest pencil as compared to the teacher’s pencil? Ask the students if it is better to measure the length of a book with paper clips or a broomstick. Go outside and measure the length of the playground with a yardstick and a ruler. Have fun with this math skill!

Social Studies for kindergarten and preschool students begins the moment they enter a classroom. A classroom is a community in itself outside the home. Social studies is defined as the relationship people with their environment and the world that they live in. First-grade social studies have this first lesson starting on the first day of class when the kid enters a new community. This social studies learning continues from the classroom to the neighborhood and then all around the world.
What is a community?
A child needs to know that “A community is a group of people working or living together in the same area.”
The social studies for kindergarten start teaching community houses in three steps.
1. The Classroom Community
The classroom of preschool is a small, safe community in which the kids learn the concepts of social studies with the help of pretend games, group activities and block building. With the help of these activities, kids learn to:

accept differences
deal with their emotions
resolving conflicts
develop social skills
share
take turns
responsibility

Learn Letter L | Alphabet for Kids | Kids Academy

1. First, you show them the letter written somewhere:

• First, draw the vertical line.
• And then add the small horizontal line.
Use a piece of chalk, a pencil, a colorful crayon or a marker to make learning the alphabet easier and more interesting for the kid. The more the kid enjoys the learning process, the better s/he will learn.

Kids are introduced to the concept of place value in the second grade. Place Value is a core concept in math. But it’s difficult to teach a kid that the value of a digit (0-9) is dependent upon its position in a number. In place value, you have to teach the kid the position that a number holds and the value that number has.
You have to keep in mind that every kid will learn at his/her own pace so you have to be patient and understanding. The right time to teach place value is after the kids have learned to count and can perform simple additions and subtractions.

Hands-on methods and practical games are the most effective ways of teaching place value to a kid. One such method is by using poker chips.
Here are the steps for teaching place value using poker chips.

1. Introduce Group Counting
Teach students how to skip count in twos, threes, fours, fives, and tens. Especially emphasize the ‘sense of ten’. This concept is fundamental for the understanding of place value.

2. Teach the difference between numbers and digits
The basic ten number symbols (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9) are known as digits. These digits are combined together to make all other numbers in mathematics. Draw examples to demonstrate that ‘3’ and ‘5’are digits on their own but when combined, they make the number thirty-five.

3. Use a Number Board
Draw or print out a number board that contains numbers in sequential order from 1- 100. Explain to the kids using visual examples how the numbers from 0-9 interact with the numbers from 10 - 100. Teach the kids that every number from 10 – 99 is made up of two numbers. One number is in the ‘ones’ place and the second number is in the ‘tens’ place.

4. Use an Interactive Example
Now take out the poker chips and distribute them among the kids. Tell them that white poker chips stand for the ‘ones’ place whereas the blue poker chips stand for the ‘tens’ place. Now show the kids how to create numbers using place value with the help of poker chips.
It is not necessary to use poker chips or pebbles specifically. But it is your responsibility to make learning fun for the kids so you can use any small colored objects to demonstrate the examples.

For us, voting is a very simple process and we know why people vote and why it’s important for the country but to teach your kids about voting can be a little difficult because they don’t even have the slightest idea of how a vote works. You see, if you think your child is now at that stage when he should know why voting is important and what a vote actually is then we’d suggest you show him some Youtube videos on the internet.

We are currently living in the digital world and it’s high time for us to upgrade our mediums of learning. You can start by telling your little one, how a vote works. In this case, you can put an example in front of him of a situation in which no one can decide what to eat for dinner. In this case, people usually vote and the majority of the people who are willing to eat let’s say “pizza”, they win.

Same is the case with voting. Voting is done to select leadership for a country/state. When someone turns 18, it becomes their duty to vote when the elections are going around. The leader with the majority of the votes wins in this case and he gets elected.

As a parent or a teacher, you can use different examples to teach the children what voting is. The two most important things that will work in this case are Youtube videos and your examples. Letter K | Learn the Alphabet | Kids Academy

Show Them The Letter First

First, work on the visual representation of the letter “K” and for this, you need to show the kids the letter written somewhere.

Show Them How To Write The Letter “K”

Once you are done painting an image in the child’s brain of the letter “K”, you then have to teach him how to write it from scratch.
