John Zimmerman, http://www.algebratesthelper.com explains how to solve equations that involve fractions by either multiplying both sides of the equation by the reciprocal of the fraction, or multiplying both sides of the equation by the denominator of the fraction. The goal is to get rid of the fraction as soon as possible.
Equivalent fractions are fractions that have a different numerator and denominator, but are the same value.

Dividing fractions word problems (ex 1)
Sometimes a word problem will involve more than one fraction operation, more than 1 step. We can use parentheses to group different operations. According to the order of operations, we perform operations within parentheses first. The order of operations is Parentheses, Exponents, Multiply or Divide left to right (whichever comes first), Add or Subtract left to right (whichever comes first). We can remember the order of operations with the word PEMDAS. We solve three word problems to show using PEMDAS.

See how to solve inequalities with fractions on both sides and how to reverse the inequality symbol, when we divide or multiply by a negative number. We start by multiplying every single term by each of the two denominators. Once that's done the inequality is much simpler to solve. We also illustrate our answer on a number line.
This calculus video tutorial focuses on evaluating limits with fractions and square roots. Multiply the complex fraction by the common denominator and by the conjugate of the radical expression.

To find three equivalent fraction for 3/5, we can multiple 3/5 by the equivalent of 1/1. For example:
3/5 x 1/1 = 3/5
since 1/1 = 1 and multiplying by 1 does not change the value.
If we multiply:
3/5 x 2/2 = 6/10
Here again, since 2/2 = 1 we aren't changing the value, just the way it is written. Both 3/5 and 6/10 are equal to 0.6.
We could also multiply by 3/3, 4/4, 5/5 and so on to find more fractions that are equal to 3/5. As long as we are multiplying by the equivalent of 1, we'll get a fraction that is the same as 3/5.
This tutorial shows how negative fractions can be written in three different ways.
