This organic chemistry video tutorial provides a basic introduction to NMR spectroscopy. It explains the basic principles of a working nmr spectrometer. It discusses the alpha and beta spin states and how to calculate the operating frequency needed given thee strength of the applied magnetic field. NMR spectroscopy works with nuclei with odd number of protons or neutrons. These nuclei have a property called spin which can absorb radio frequency radiation when the appropriate magnetic field is applied to it.
