K12 Climate Action - Advancing Equity
The negative impacts of climate change fall disproportionately on low income communities and communities of color, and yet they are too often underrepresented in conversations about solutions to climate change. Schools must center equity and follow the lead of these communities to advance environmental justice.
K12 Climate Action is on a mission to unlock the power of the education sector to be a force for climate action, solutions, and environmental justice. Learn more about K12 Climate Action at K12ClimateAction.org.
Descriptive Transcript:
Climate change impacts everyone, but not equally. The negative impacts of climate change fall more on communities of color and low-income communities. Too often, their experiences are left out of the climate conversation, but these voices belong at the center of the search for solutions. To advance equity we must center the experiences of communities that are impacted most and support policies for environmental justice in schools to build a more sustainable, resilient, and equitable future. Mitigate, adapt, advance equity, educate. This is Planet Ed. K-12 Climate Action. The Aspen Institute.
