What are school gardens? School gardens offer hands-on learning opportunities where students grow, harvest, and use fruits and vegetables. Did you know that schools serve over 7 billion meals annually? Decisions about menus, sourcing, and waste have an environmental impact. School gardens help students understand food systems and the benefits of locally-grown food. Research shows that students engaged in learning with school gardens eat more fruits and vegetables. School gardens benefit the environment and can improve kids’ health. Mitigate, adapt, advance equity, educate. This is Planet Ed.
