Since its earliest history, the term ‘Legion’ has been heavily associated with the Roman military, whether it denoted entire armies in the formation years of the Roman Republic, or the more elite forces we have come to associate with the period of the Roman Empire.

Serving as trailblazers in the early years of the Empire, Roman Legions spearheaded imperial expansion allowing Rome to dominate much of Europe and beyond in the classical era.
