In this lesson, you will learn to multiply fractions quickly and easily.
To multiply fractions you multiply across the numerators (the top number of a fraction) and multiply across the denominators (the bottom number).
An example I always use to start this off is multiply 1/2 with a 1/2. The numerators multiply to give 1 (1 x1), the denominators multiply to give 4 (2x2). Hence a 1/2 multiplied by a 1/2 is 1/4.
What about if you multiply 2/3x1/4?
Top number (2x1), bottom number (3x4).

This maths trick for fast multiplication allows you multiply any two numbers quickly, using vedic math. This method is a great alternative either for those who need that extra bit of help with math, or people who like to expand their knowledge.
This trick is especially useful in multiplying large numbers, with less mess and confusion than standard long multiplication.

How to divide decimals: first divide as if there is no decimal. Next, count the number of digits after the decimal in each number. Through a bit of subtraction you can work out where the decimal goes.
