----
Hello Happy Friends!

Are you ready to learn?

I’m Sara, and today, we’re going to talk about… Well! Just listen!

Sounds good huh? Today, We’re going to talk about… Sound!

-

For sound to exist, there needs to be something, or someone that produces it. Like this guitar!

A medium through which it can be transmitted, like air.

And of course, an ear to receive it.

-

When I play my guitar strings…
I produce vibrations that travel in waves to our ears, that’s why we hear them.

-

Sounds’ speed depends on the medium it travels through.

In solids, like iron, sound waves travel at great speed!

In liquids, like water, they travel a little slower,

And in gases, like air, is where they travel the slowest.

-

But, if sounds are waves, why do we recognise sounds when we hear them?

Why do we recognise our parent’s voice? Or a dog’s bark?

Well it’s easy peasy! We recognise them because of every sound’s properties, or characteristics.

-

There are three properties:

Intensity, pitch and timber.

Intensity lets us identify if the sound is loud… or soft…

Thanks to the pitch, we can tell if the sounds are high (pitched) or low (pitched)

And by the timbre, we identify what or who has generated the sound.

For example, if it has been generated, by a flute…
…A guitar…
...A dog!...
...Or a cat!

-

Lastly, before I say goodbye, here’s a fun fact! Do you know what Echo is?

Echo, is when sound waves bump against an obstacle, change their direction and shortly after, we can hear the sound repeatedly.
-

That’s an echo, and I’m that you’ve heard it more than once. But if you haven’t... listen up!
Happy Learning!
So cool!

Bye happy friends!
I hope you’re always ready to learn more!

------
Did you know that dolphins sleep with one eye open?
This is because they sleep with only a half of their brain, the other half remains awake to be able to keep on breathing. In a day’s journey, dolphins sleep 4 hours with each part of their body. There are 3 reasons why this occurs. The first is to stop themselves from drowning. The second is to remain alert for any danger as they sleep. The third reason is to allow the muscles to keep moving, since mammals have warm blood and this enables them to maintain their body temperature.

Did you know that dolphins have names for each other like humans?
The truth is that dolphins never stop surprising us. The university of San Andrew in Scotland has discovered that dolphins communicate with each other using names. Yes, Yes like me and you. It is the only animal, except humans, that has been known to do this. Each dolphin has a unique name that differentiates it from others.

It is believed that when mothers give birth, they emit a sound. And this sound, from that very moment, becomes their name.
Did you know that dolphins can’t smell?
Even though they have great ears and excellent vision, dolphins can’t smell. To find their prey they use echolocation. This means that they emit sounds that travel along the water in form of waves. When these waves arrive at something that is solid, they bounce back and the dolphin is able to detect them. When sounds are travelling for long distance, dolphins are able to detect predators or dangers before seeing them, but not all of them.

The contamination of the seas and oceans is destroying the lives of many dolphins and other animals. You need to look after nature so this doesn’t occur and to enable dolphins, these marvelous sea mammals, to keep on living in seas free and happy.

----

Hello friends, welcome to a new Happy Learning video. Today we are going to learn what the biggest and most violent storms are, hurricanes.

Hurricanes are so called because according to the Mayan legend a God named Hurakan spread his breath through the water creating the Earth.

But that is only a legend. Hurricanes are really huge tropical storms that form in the southern Atlantic Ocean, in the Caribbean Sea and in the Gulf of Mexico. Depending on where they are formed they are also called cyclones or typhoons. For example, hurricanes that form in the Pacific Ocean are called Typhoons and those that form in the Indian Ocean cyclones.

Hurricanes are formed by an eye or centre composed of calm air that is surrounded by clouds, strong winds and storms full of water.

Hurricanes form when a series of electrical storms come together and travel over the warm waters of the oceans. The warm air of the storm causes surface water to evaporate and begin to rise generating low pressure on the surface of the ocean.

The winds that circulate in opposite directions make the storm begin to turn. The rise of the warm air causes the pressure to decrease at higher altitude so that the air rises faster and faster to fill that space of low pressure, attracting more warm air from the sea surface and expelling the coldest air. and dry down.
As the storm moves across the ocean, the speed of the wind increases and it takes an enormous and incredible force, until the hurricane forms.

When it hits the ground, the impact of a hurricane usually causes a lot of damage although it depends on the category of hurricane as it is classified in 5. Category 1 hurricanes are the weakest and have a speed between 119 and 153 kilometers per hour. Those of category 5 go to more than 250 kilometers per hour and are super destructive.

The truth is that hurricanes are very dangerous and there are populations that have been destroyed by them. At present scientists, do not know if global warming causes more hurricanes or not but if they are clear that it greatly increases its intensity and its destructive power. So, as we always tell you from Happy Learning, you have to take care of the planet, you have to recycle and contaminate as little as possible. If we all respect nature, we will avoid many misfortunes and sorrows.

Goodbye friends Oh and do not forget to subscribe to Happy Learning Tv
