While Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine is expected to reveal guidelines this week regarding the process of reopening K-12 school buildings this fall, some of the state’s school leaders are getting a jump on the conversation. Eric Gordon, the CEO of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, will participate in a virtual discussion Monday regarding “reopening and related critical policy priorities to ensure success for students and staff.” "Ohio K-12 traditional public schools are experiencing unprecedented times," according to a press release from the Ohio 8 Coalition. "State and Federal policy priorities and decisions are and will continue to have significant financial operational impacts on students, teachers, staff and communities."

Show ‘n Tell Goes to the Movies – This lesson builds on students listening, speaking, reading, and writing vocabulary. Students often have a difficult time with the concept of showing – not telling – details in their writing. Breaking the skill down helps them to gain an understanding of the concept, to become more descriptive writers, and to apply the concept of show-not-tell to multimedia writing (movie making). (Subject Area: English/Language Arts, ELD; Grade Level: Grade 4)
About Teach 21 – Advancing Network Uses Grant: This project is funded by the state’s K12 High Speed Network (http://k12hsn.org) for the purpose of providing educators across the state with a vision for the meaningful integration of technology into the core curriculum and reinforcing 21st Century Learning Skills.
The lesson Wiki includes the objectives, procedures, standards alignment (both state and national), materials, and links to additional resources. The lesson includes this 2-3 minute video clip with teacher interview, student interviews and a snapshot of what the lesson actually “looked like” in the classroom.

In this interview with Shuchi Grover, we discuss the importance of having a variety of assessments in a CS class, why we need more research on computational thinking, why educators and scholars should read literature outside of the field, Shuchi’s new book titled “Computer Science in K-12: An A-To-Z Handbook on Teaching Programming,” and much more.
Guest Bio
Shuchi Grover is a senior research scientist at Looking Glass Ventures and a visiting scholar at Stanford University. Her research is focused on teaching and learning of computer science, computational thinking, and programming in schools. She has been working with children and programming since 2001, first in informal afterschool settings, and recently, in classrooms. Her current research encompasses the design of curricula and assessments for all levels of preK-12 CS education, as well as the integration of computing and coding in STEM and other subjects. She has led, and continues to lead, several large research projects (often in collaboration with universities and research organizations) with grants from the US National Science Foundation and other federal agencies. She also consults globally on projects related to K-12 CS, programming, and computational thinking education. She edited and co-authored the recently released "A to Z Handbook on Teaching Introductory Programming" for K-12 teachers.

Coronavirus challenge is pushing the global educational industry into a new digital era!
The decision taken by the public health officials and regional governments in different countries over the last few weeks to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus has affected the global education industry. A record number of children and youth are not attending school. The short- or long-term shutdown of schools in 22 countries in parts of the USA, China, South Korea, Europe and elsewhere around the globe due to the speeding Covid-19 epidemics have left parents trying to urgently arrange a remote learning environment for their kids.
Schools temporarily go remote taking digital transformation in the education space to the new level and speeding the integration of immersive technologies into the curriculum. With a little time to prepare for such a dramatic shift in teaching, educators are struggling to find digital resources for virtual classes to keep students engaged in distanced learning.

_________________ABOUT_____________________
Complete K12 essentials Youtube channel and Complete K12 Essentials.com was created to offer parents and teachers an online augmentation or alternative when public schools are not available. The need for standard curriculum that can be delivered via the internet became obvious during the pandemic of 2020.
The challenge was to give each child a method to connect with teachers and class mates to simulate a natural learning environment. Although we are still building our library of video lessons, you can use our videos to create lesson plans, review standardized material, introduce building blocks and drills, as well as assigning tests and quizzes on limited videos, such as vocabulary. We are building videos that will serve all students from kindergarten through the 12th grade.
Our goal is to provide videos that will serve as a resource for those teaching or those looking to cover important standardized curriculum. We believe that access to a solid foundation of knowledge should be available to everyone who chooses to seek it. Many offerings online lean on animation to capture a child’s attention, which to a certain extent works, but they lose interest rapidly and the opportunities for learning are significantly reduced. This is especially true when the child has no obligation to retain the material or accountability to a teacher. Navigating through the material suitable for each grade level is a difficult task at best, so we have created the “SAFE LEARNING PLACE” logo and apply it to all of our videos to show you our dedication to providing good learning material that can be trusted across our whole channel. The curriculum will cover Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Technology, Music, Art, Health and Fitness, Foreign Languages, Life Skills, Career training, History and Law.
If you would like for students to learn high frequency words with reading and writing fluency, this might be the tutorial for your students.
https://docs.google.com/presen....tation/d/1I8C5C6MxrI
The goal is to build reading, writing and speaking fluency. This could be a good resource for your English Language Learners.
Feel free to adapt it to meet the needs of your students.

Middlebury Interactive Languages is definitely an excellent language learning program (lack of games or not!) I am glad we had the opportunity to use and review it. There’s no doubt Super Hero will continue to learn German with it. He already mentioned his desire to continue on with level 2.
