Behold the 2017 Venice Biennale. Called the "olympics of the art world," the exhibition invades historic (and tourist clogged) Venice, Italy, every two years, and has since 1895. Contemporary art abounds, with installations and exhibitions occupying the city's Giardini and Arsenale, as well as art venues throughout the city. And yes, we ate plenty of gelato and rode in a gondola.

A simple and clear explanation of all the important features of quantum physics that you need to know. Check out this video's sponsor https://brilliant.org/dos
I have spent a lot of time thinking about how best to explain quantum physics and this is the result of all my hours of pondering, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. I decided to just explain it as it actually is, rather than rely on analogies. The video explains the quantum wavefunction, particle-wave duality, the measurement problem, the double-slit experiment, superposition, entanglement, quantum tunnelling, the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, and energy quantisation. Let me know if it was helpful! Cheers Dx

Students engineer surfaces to control and modify friction and grip as they design and build a tabletop game that uses sliding friction as the main component of its mechanics. Students first observe surface roughness on a variety of surface materials using a digital microscope and explore how engineers use surface modifications to manage friction. They then investigate and compare the friction and grip on multiple surface materials using an inclined plane. Applying the concepts of surface roughness and surface modification, students work as engineering teams to create a tabletop game that uses sliding friction as a main game mechanic. Students go through the steps of the engineering design process, from ideation to prototype development. Students test their own games to balance relevant parameters (surface roughness, speed, board design, game rules, etc.) to improve their prototypes. Students review the prototypes of their peers and offer feedback for further improvements.

What happens when humans try to dig too deep? In one of the most ambitious—and disastrous—experiments ever, scientists attempted to drill straight into the Earth’s crust. The project promised groundbreaking discoveries about our planet, but instead, it unleashed unexpected dangers, extreme heat, and terrifying consequences. From equipment failures to impossible temperatures, this deep-earth expedition tested the limits of human ingenuity…and survival. Join us as we explore humanity’s most catastrophic attempt to pierce the planet itself and the lessons learned from going too far beneath our feet.

Students take the concept of etch-a-sketch a step further. Using iron filings, they begin visualizing magnetic field lines. To do so, they use a compass to read the direction of the magnet's magnetic field. Then, as they rotate the filings about the magnet, they observe the behavior of iron filings near the magnet. Finally, students study the behavior of iron filings suspended in mineral oil, which displays the magnetic field in three dimensions.

Music - Bicycle Reunited by Kevin MacLeod
What is the difference between bacteria and viruses? In Bacteria and Viruses for Kids, you will learn all about these two microorganisms. The first thing you will learn is that not all bacteria are bad. In fact, the majority of bacteria on the planet and in your body are actually good. You can find bacteria in things like yogurt, soy sauce, and pickles!
So what are bacteria? They are single-celled organisms so small that you can't see them without a microscope. They don't have a nucleus like other single-celled Common shapes include rods, spirals, and spheres. All these organisms move in different ways too. Some move like swimmers using tail-like structures called flagella. Others stay still and don't move much at all. Then there are some that slither or slide their way around.
Most bacteria are not harmful. However, there are some that can make you sick. These are called pathogens. Common pathogens include food poisoning, leprosy, and typhoid fever. To fight these pathogens, you can use antibiotics or antiseptics. You can actually find antiseptics in soaps because it's how you keep your hands clean. Good bacteria, on the other hand, are good for many reasons. They help you digest food and keep your immune system strong. They also break down dead plant and animal material to help keep soil healthy. And, they produce about half of the oxygen in the atmosphere!
What about viruses? All viruses are bad. Scientists debate whether these organisms are living or dead because they don't have an organized cell structure and can't reproduce unless they attach themselves to a living cell. The word virus comes from the Latin word for "slimy liquid." These organisms attack healthy cells. As those cells reproduce, the virus reproduces too and spreads. Many kinds can pass from person to person through hand-shaking, food contact, and through water.

Educational Videos and songs for Kids. In this video we’re going to learn about the birds.
They are so diverse, and there are so many colors and shapes, it's fun to learn about them. For example, this tiny little hummingbird doesn’t look anything like this huge ostrich. And these penguins don’t look much like this peacock with its large fan-shaped tail. Well, they may not look alike, but they’re all birds, and have many things in common.
Birds are oviparous... which as you know, means that they reproduce by laying eggs. The females lay the eggs in nests, in the rocks... or on the ground... And with the heat of their bodies, they incubate the eggs until the little chicks hatch.
Birds don’t have teeth, they have beaks or bills... And these can be very different, depending on what that species of bird feeds on.
They breathe with their lungs, that are connected to... bags full of air... called air sacs... and these help birds to fly. Also, nature, which is very clever, has made their bones hollow, so they weigh very little, and because of this it’s much easier for them to fly.
The skin of birds is covered with feathers: these protect them from the cold and heat. Birds have four limbs, the back ones are legs... and the front ones are wings. Together, the wings and feathers are essential for them to be able to fly... and in some cases... so they can swim.
Birds are terrestrial and most of them can fly. Can you think of any birds that can’t fly? That’s right!!! Penguins and ostriches are two species of birds that cannot fly.
Birds have four types of feathers: those that cover the whole body; flight feathers in the wings that help them to fly; down feathers, which cover the chest and belly and maintain the body at a constant temperature; and tail feathers that help guide the birds’ body like a rudder on a boat.
Birds can be classified into several groups, according to what they eat: herbivores feed on plants and grasses – their beaks are short and strong, and can crush seeds and grains. When they only eat grains, they are called granivores.
Carnivorous birds hunt and eat other animals, using their strong, curved beaks. Within the group of carnivores there are insectivores, that only eat insects, and piscivores that only feed on fish. These birds have pointed beaks that are long and sharp to help them catch the fish. Remember - birds that eat fish are called piscivorous.
The last group - omnivorous birds - includes pigeons and hens, and they eat almost anything.
So remember: birds are oviparous, which means they reproduce by laying eggs; their mouths are beaks or bills and they breathe with their lungs; their skin is covered with feathers; and depending on the food they eat, they can be herbivorous... carnivorous... or omnivorous.
So, now you know a lot more about birds.
Goodbye, everybody, and don’t forget to subscribe to Happy Learning!!!
