🌱 Did you know that the Amazon and Southeast Asian rainforests are called the Earth’s lungs? These incredible rainforests produce much of the oxygen we breathe and capture CO2, helping to combat the greenhouse effect.
🌿 Discover fascinating facts about these rainforests:
The Amazon, the largest rainforest in the world, is home to unique species like the sloth and the giant anaconda.
The Southeast Asian rainforest, over 15 million years old, shelters playful orangutans and majestic tigers.
⚠️ But these green lungs are in danger due to deforestation. Every minute, more than 100,000 trees are lost, putting many animal species at risk of extinction.

Students learn about the difference between temperature and thermal energy. They create thermometers using simple materials and develop their own scales for measuring temperature. They compare their thermometers to a commercial thermometer, and get a sense for why engineers need to understand the properties of thermal energy.

Student groups are challenged to design and construct model towers out of newspaper. They are given limited supplies including newspaper, tape and scissors, paralleling the real-world limitations faced by engineers, such as economic restrictions as to how much material can be used in a structure. Students aim to build their towers for height and stability, as well as the strength to withstand a simulated lateral "wind" load.

Students are introduced to the concept of projectile motion, of which they are often familiar from life experiences, such as playing sports like basketball and baseball, even though they may not understand the physics involved. Students use tabletop-sized robots to build projectile throwers and measure motion using sensors. They compute distances and velocities using simple kinematic equations and confirm their results through measurements by hand. To apply the concept, students calculate the necessary speed of an object to reach a certain distance in a hypothetical scenario: A group of hikers stranded at the bottom of a cliff need food, but rescuers cannot deliver it themselves, so they must devise a way to get the food to the hikers. A student worksheet is provided.

A main concern of shoe engineers is creating shoes that provide the right amount of arch support to prevent (or fix) common gait misalignments that lead to injury. During this activity, students look at their own footprints and determine whether they have either of the two most prominent gait misalignments: overpronation (collapsing arches) or supination (high arches). Knowing the shape of a person's foot, and their natural arch movement is necessary to design shoes to fix these gain alignments.

Paris Kent, the dance director at Bellaire High School in Houston, has sent her students into physics classes to help students learn about the rotation of an axis through the movement of their bodies, demonstrating how a person’s size impacts the speed of the rotation. It’s just one way Kent works to incorporate dance across the curriculum.
But the methods for utilizing movement are just as plentiful as the reasons for doing so—from giving students an opportunity to share elements of their culture, creating connections between students and their teachers, and increasing student engagement.
Here, Kent shares how teachers can incorporate dance and movement into their classrooms in small, time-effective ways.

The students at Ron Brown College Preparatory High School are “kings.” All freshmen. All young men of color. All determined to change the dominant narrative about young black men in Washington: too many read below grade-level and won’t graduate high school. This new public school in Washington D.C. opened its doors in August 2016 and is radically different. Not just because it is a public school for boys, but because it's designed specifically to meet the needs of D.C.’s young men of color. The school’s principal and the majority of its teachers are black men. They begin each morning in a school-wide circle, navigating conversations that include neighborhood violence and police shootings, protest and poverty. Many schools do one or two of these things, but few do them all – and with the conviction of Ron Brown’s staff. For the past year, through a partnership between Education Week and NPR, we visited Ron Brown weekly -- and some weeks, daily -- to witness the birth of this new school and to see how its staff tackles some of the toughest challenges in education today. We spent hundreds of hours there, from the earliest days to the last bell.

The U.S. Department of Education opened in 1980 under President Jimmy Carter. Since then, several efforts to reorganize or shut the department down failed. Now, President Donald Trump wants to merge the U.S. Department of Education and the Labor Department into a single new agency—to be called the Department of Education and the Workforce, intending to improve efficiency and accountability of the executive branch. Merging two departments with very different missions and responsibilites is likely to present a host of logistical challenges, but also has many concerned that the department's core mission could get lost.

Hola. In this video lesson we'll cover some words for clothing. Some of these words will vary depending on region, country, and personal preference.
Also, chanclas (as far as I know) is more of a Mexican word. I'm interested to see what others have to say.
In Mexican Spanish, other words might be used:
la camiseta = la playera
la chaqueta = la chamarra
los pantalones cortos = el short / los shores
In Perú
tenis = zapatillas
pantalones cortos = shorts o bermudas
camiseta = polo
*camiseta would be like a sports jersey
jeans = vaqueros

Here’s a quick Spanish lesson on suffixes.
A suffix is a group of letters added to the end of a word that adds to the meaning of the word.
In this video we will go over the suffix -ería. This is used to add the information of a store and is used to add onto nouns.
Please like the video and share with others who could benefit. More Spanish lessons coming.
👍Please share this video with others and like it to help me get the word out on my videos!
And let me know about other troublesome topics you’d like in bite-sized form.
