The Siege of Jadotville from September 13 to 17, 1961, was a forgotten military action of the Irish UN peacekeeping forces during the Congo Crisis.
It is the story of 155 soldiers of the A Company, 35th Battalion of the Irish Army who fought against an enemy that outnumbered them, for five days while kept under siege in the hostile region.

Have you ever heard of condor? In this video for kids, we will discuss interesting facts and characteristics of this large predator. Follow along with the high-interest reading lesson plan on our website! Condors are large black birds with triangular patches of white on the underside of its wings. They have the largest wingspan of any North American birds. In fact, sometimes they are mistaken for small, distant airplanes.
Usually, the males are smaller than females when it comes to birds of prey. But with condors, it's the opposite. The females a little smaller, but not by too much. These birds weigh about 20 pounds! The head and neck of a condor are bald, which is an adaptation for hygiene. When they're high in the sky, the UV rays of the sun disinfects their skin. This makes them resistant to disease and infection! Depending on the bird's mood, its skin color ranges in color. Plus, the changing skin color is a way for them to communicate with other condors.
Wild condors can travel up to 150 miles a day for food. They eat carrion, which is the decaying carcass of a dead animal. They prefer large animals like horses, cows, and mountain lions. But they aren't too picky. They will feast on smaller animals if they need to. Given that their meal is dead, you would think it would smell really bad. But condors have no sense of smell!
We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about these interesting birds! If you want to learn even more, head over to our website and download one of our many lesson plans about animals, full of activities, worksheets, and more!

Educational video to learn numbers up to 20 in a fun and easy way. Ideal for Preschool and Kindergarten!
Numbers will form the basic foundation for your kid’s learning process. These are the first steps towards academic learning and this foundation needs to be very strong if you want your kid to grasp the upcoming concepts quickly and very firmly.
Start with the number zero. Use some of the most common things around to use as examples to explain the concept of zero. Zero means ‘nothing’. So, if there were six ducks before but now they are all gone what do we say how many ducks are there now? Yes, we say zero. This will clear the concept of zero in the kid’s mind that when we say zero it means that there is no quantity of the particular thing present.
Kids can learn anywhere and anytime, it all depends on how you use your environment to bring out some lessons from it. So, you must have been in an elevator with your kid multiple times. So why not use the floors as a counting lesson. Yes, it’s very easy and your kid will have some fun too. Count all the floors till which the elevator travels to. This will help the kid to memorize numbers in a more natural and easy way.
Just like this, you can plan some other fun activities to help the kid learn numbers easy and fast. Pick up fun things from your own surrounding and it would make the lessons much more interesting for the kid.

Precious metals like gold, silver, platinum, and rhodium are expensive because they're rare in Earth's crust. But are they rare in the universe? Why is it so hard to make some of the chemical elements? Where do heavy metals come from, anyway? Turns out, we can blame it all on neutron stars and some oddities of the periodic table.

Lyrics:
Baa Baa black sheep, have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full.
One for the master, one for the dame
One for the little boy who lives down the lane
Baa baa black sheep, have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full.
Baa Baa blue sheep, have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full.
One for the master, one for the dame
One for the little boy who lives down the lane
Baa baa blue sheep, have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full.
Baa Baa pink sheep, have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full.
One for the master, one for the dame
One for the little boy who lives down the lane
Baa baa pink sheep, have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full.
Baa Baa white sheep, have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full.
One for the master, one for the dame
One for the little boy who lives down the lane
Baa baa white sheep, have you any wool?

Student groups are provided with a generic car base on which to design a device/enclosure to protect an egg as it rolls down a ramp at increasing slopes. During this in-depth physics-science-technology-math activity, student teams design, build and test their prototype creations to meet the design challenge, and then perform basic mathematical calculations using collected data, including a summative cost-benefit ratio. The activity has great potential to build on with additional physics and math explorations. Many student handouts are provided.
This engineering curriculum aligns to Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
