What do you know about the continent of South America and its countries? In All about South America for Kids, you will learn facts about the geography, people, and history of the fifth largest continent in the world. You might already know some things about it, but let's see what else you can learn!
Speaking of geography, South America touches three of the five oceans: Pacific, Atlantic, and Antarctic (Southern). And only two of its countries are landlocked, meaning that they don't touch an ocean. The largest country is Brazil, which is home to the most populous city on the continent, Sao Paolo, which has almost 15 million people! The total population of Brazil overall is over 200 million, about half the number of people living on the entire continent.
One of the most famous landmarks in South America is Machu Picchu, an ancient landmark meaning old mountain that was discovered in 1911. Even though the Spanish captured much of the Incan civilization that lived along the Andes Mountains, they did not find Machu Picchu. This ancient city is one of the seven new wonders of the world.
South America boasts several other famous attractions, such as the Christ the Redeemer statue, a 125-foot-tall statue overlooking the city of Rio de Janeiro. It is also one of the seven new wonders of the world. Another cool place is in Bolivia: Salar de Uyuni is the world's largest salt flat, spanning over 4,000 square miles! Lots of pink flamingos live on this prehistoric dry lake.
We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about this cool continent! If you want even more information, head over to our website and download one of our many free lesson plans, full of activities, worksheets, and more!

Happy Pi Day! Sorry, itโs not pizza or fruit pie. Although, you can have a slice of those to celebrate. Today, weโre celebrating this kind of pi, ฯ.
Physicist Larry Shaw created Pi Day in 1988, and it became an official national holiday in 2009. Shaw chose to celebrate pi on March 14 because of its first three digits, 3.14, and it also happens to be Albert Einsteinโs birthday.
Pi is a mathematical constantโitโs the ratio of any circleโs circumference to its diameter. The first recorded discovery of pi dates back to 250 B.C. Greek mathematician Archimedes used a geometric approach to calculate the first few numbers of pi; he drew hexagons inside a circle until he reached a 96-sided polygon!
Pi is never-ending, but thanks to technology, weโve been able to calculate more than 50 trillion digits after the decimal point. Thatโs a lot of pi! How many digits can you list?

What are you waiting for? The digestive system and digestion
Hello friends, and welcome to a new Happy Learning video. Today we are going to learn about the digestive system and digestion.
So that our body can make the most of the food we eat, it must first transform it into a simpler substance called nutrients. These nutrients are then transported by our blood around our body to be used and converted into energy. This food transformation process is called digestion and is done by the digestive system.
The digestive system is a very long tube threw which food travels and is made up of the following parts:
The mouth; this is where the digestion journey begins. The teeth both chop and grin up the food we eat. Once it has been made into a ball, it is pushed down the food pipe, to the pharynx.
The pharynx is a cavity which shares the digestive system with the respiratory system. It is from the pharynx that the food goes to the esophagus.
The esophagus is a soft muscular tube that moves food further down to the stomach.
The stomach is a widening of the digestive tube. It creates a movement which allows food to mix with gastric fluids. Once this process has been done, it then travels to the small intestine.
The small intestine, is called small because of its width not its length. It's actually much longer than the large intestine, measuring up to 7 meters in length, almost as wide as a football goal from post to post. Well it is here, in the small intestine, were the food digestion journey ends. Now it is up to fluids processed by two glands, the liver and the pancreas, to finalize the transformation of food into nutrients.
Once the food is converted into nutrients, they then traverse the small intestines walls and filter into our blood where they are then made good use of, by all of our bodyยดs cells. But what happens to all the food that our body doesn't need? All that, such a fiber, for example, is transferred to the large intestine.
The large intestine is a thick tube which accumulates substances which our organism cannot digest and is also where water from these substances is absorbed. These substances then form the fecal matter, or what we call poop, which comes out of the anus. Agghh, it sounds a little bit discussing but that's how our body works.
Anyway friends, I hope you found the digestion system and digestion as interesting as I did.
See you later, and don't forget to subscribe to Happy Learning.
After a brief history of plastics, students look more closely as some examples from the abundant types of plastics found in our day-to-day lives. They are introduced to the mechanical properties of plastics, including their stress-strain relationships, which determine their suitability for different industrial and product applications. These physical properties enable plastics to be fabricated into a wide range of products. Students learn about the different roles that plastics play in our lives, Young's modulus, and the effects that plastics have on our environment. Then students act as industrial engineers, conducting tests to compare different plastics and performing a cost-benefit analysis to determine which are the most cost-effective for a given application, based on their costs and measured physical properties.
