There is far more to 1919-1939 Germany than it simply being a prelude to Hitler’s rise to power. As financial ruin, military defeat, and a humiliating treaty blew in gales, Germans pushed for a republican system of government, and a new constitution to lift them off their knees. It was a period of not only struggle as hyperinflation and reparations cut holes into longcoats, but also of steady recovery as the nation launched itself once more onto the world market, as well as creative ingenuity that would continue to shape our understanding of modernity. Watch the political obstacles that had faced the likes of Ebert and Stresemann, the devastating impact of the Great Depression, and the dramatic dissolution of the republic with all its vibrant cultural iconography.

At the apex of the First World War, technology and innovation often decided the outcome of the many brutal skirmishes witnessed along the Western Front. Tank warfare, in particular, emerged as a field of great interest to the warring powers as they sought for a way to break the deadlock of static, entrenched combat. As the first tank produced and fielded en-masse during the conflict, the British Mark IV Tank would change the state of war forever. This is the true story of one such tank, affectionately nicknamed the 'Fray Bentos.' Beached before the enemy during the Battle of Passchendaele, the brave crew of the Fray Bentos were forced to endure a 3-day siege - completely cut off from Allied lines. Trapped inside the cramped, smoggy landship, the men desperately fended off multiple ground assaults from their determined German foes. Today, the 'Fray Bentos Boys' are officially recognised as the most decorated tank crew of WW1 - having participated in the war's longest tank engagement.

Do you know what an abbreviation is or how to make one? An abbreviation is a shortened form of a word or phrase. You can make one by taking letters out and replacing them with other letters or symbols, such as a period. In this video, you and your kids will learn about some common abbreviations, many of which you probably use every day.
One of the most common abbreviations has to do with the time of day. We use a.m. in the morning hours and p.m. in the evening and night hours. What do those actually stand for? "Ante meridiem" is Latin for before noon, so we use a.m. for all the times before noon. "Post meridiem" is Latin for after noon, so we use p.m. for all the times after noon.
Other common abbreviations involve days of the week, months of the year, measurement, and time. For example, we can write Sat. for Saturday or Dec. for December rather than writing out the whole word. In recipe books, you will often find abbreviations for their measurements, like tsp for teaspoon or oz for ounce. And you've probably seen abbreviations like min for minutes or yr for year.

What are Cardinal Directions? In this video built as an introduction to kids we will learn all about the 4 Cardinal Directions which are: North, South, East, West. Each time you go somewhere, you travel or move in a direction, which is the course or path you move in. You might walk down the street and then turn right or left, later turn around and return home. You are moving in different directions throughout the day. In the same way, cars, airplanes, buses, trains, and other vehicles move in different directions too. However, instead of turning to the right or left, or traveling up or down the
street, there are special words used to name the directions a vehicle or person can travel.
There are four main directions or points called cardinal directions (sometimes cardinal points). The four points include north (N), east (E), south (S), and west (W). The direction words are found on maps, compasses, street signs, and in many other places. The cardinal directions help people travel from place to place.
