How to Sort Objects for Kids 2018 | Sorting & Matching Games
Toddlers and kids have a natural-born curiosity and desire to make sense of their world. This desire draws them towards sorting and matching activities. Sorting objects for kids is the pathway to their cognitive development. As a teacher, you must be aware that sorting and matching games teach the kids organization and are the foundation of the development of mathematical skills in kids.
There are several ways to teach kids how to sort objects. These include educational videos for kids, sorting and matching games and several other ways. But there are some key milestones that are important for the kid’s mental development, visual discrimination, hand-eye coordination, and motor skills.
The key milestones on how to sort objects for kids include the following:
Shaping Up
Use toy sorters with different shaped holes to tell the kids the shapes of triangles, circle and square and how to match them with the corresponding shapes in the sorter. Let the kids experiment with different shapes and learn the right ones.
Learning Colors
When the kids start understanding the shapes its time to teach the colors. You can use different educational videos for kids, games, and books to teach colors. Give the kid a set of different colored rings. It’s a popular toy for teaching colors. Now say the colors out loud and teach the kid to identify them.
Matching Objects
Now give the kids sets of building blocks or different objects. Place six or seven objects in front of the kids and ask them to group together the similar ones. If the kid can do this move them to match blocks of similar shapes, sizes, and colors.
Sorting Objects
This cognitive skill is more complex than matching. Once the kids learn how to sort objects they start to develop the fundamental arithmetic understanding. Create fun activities for the kids. Ask them to sort pineapples, grapes, apples, and strawberries from their fruit cups. Ask them to sort mixed blocks containing triangles, circles, and other such shapes.
Sorting and matching are powerful skills that develop the brains of the kids and pave the pathway for future learning. So it is important to teach them with sorting and matching games without putting a burden on the kid.

Force, Work, and Energy for Kids | Types of Energy | Pushing and Pulling
Science is cool and fun. Its everything you see all day around yourself, outside, inside your room, in your house, science is everywhere. Science is added as a subject at the very early standards. The basics concepts start from here and then they reach the high standards as the standards increase.
At the beginning level, the most basic things that are needed to be taught to the kids are force work and energy. They form the very basics of science and these concepts must be made crystal clear at the beginner level.
Let’s start by asking a very simple question. How are we able to move stuff around?
The answer is very simple we use energy and force to do all the work that we do.
Energy
It is the ability to move or do work.
Types of energy
The most common types of energy are:
1. Chemical energy
Chemical energy is responsible for all the chemical reactions happening around, for example, a chemical reaction between baking soda and vinegar is due to chemical energy.
2. Electrical energy
Electrical energy enables us to plug in lights, charge our phones and run all the electrical appliances.
3. Light energy
Light energy coming from the sun helps plants to grow and lets humans see during day time.
4. Wind energy
Wind energy blows around.
Force
A force is either a push or a pull on an object. It is the energy that we apply on an object to make it move.
Push
When you move something away from you it is called a push, for example, a mother pushing a stroller on road.
Pull
When you move something towards you, it is called pull, for example, an airplane pulling a banner at the beach.
Gravity pulls you down.
So, whenever we do some work we put some energy on it, either we push it away or pull it towards ourselves.

Learn to Play Chess - Skewer | Kids Academy
If you are learning how to play chess you must know about skewer. A skewer is like a pin in reverse. When you pin a piece, you attack a piece and a more valuable piece is revealed behind the piece that you attacked.
It can be turned around which means that you can attack more valuable piece, this piece runs away revealing a less powerful piece behind it which means that we can capture it. This would be called a skewer.
Pieces that are moving in a straight line and are long range pieces can do skewers which means only queens, rooks and bishops are the only three pieces that can make a skewer move.
So, whenever you see these pieces in the sesame diagonal you can go for a skewer move. It can instantly get you more points and can actually become the winning move for you.
Keep an eye on all the pieces and you can make the most intelligent skewer move in chess.

The Origins of the song:
It has been suggested that the song may have originally arisen out of American minstrelsy. The earliest printing of the song is from 1852 when the lyrics were published with similar lyrics to those used today, but with a very different tune. Kids benefit a lot from having experience of sorting, classifying and comparing objects. These activities make the basics of numeracy skills and mathematics. It is easy to make kindergarten sorting games by using everyday objects. Provide them with opportunities to sort the same group in two different ways by shapes, colors, sizes or textures.
What needs to be taught?
1. Kids should know what is meant by ‘categorize’ or ‘sort’.
2. Another important thing to know is how to sort the same group in two different ways.
Example: Take some buttons
First, ask the kids to sort them according to size
Next by colors
Then by the number of holes, etc.
A Game to Focus on One Sorting Characteristic
1. Take two pieces of different colored cards and some items that can be sorted in more than one way, e.g. buttons, keys or plastic toy figures.
2. Place both cards on a table with some space between them.
3. Pick a silver button (if you are using buttons) and put it on the first card saying ‘this button goes on this card’. Next, take a golden button and say: ‘this button can’t go on this card’, and place it on the other card.
4. Repeat the activity with a few buttons than ask the kids to guess the sorting rule.
5. When the kids tell you that you are sorting by color then try to choose a more difficult sorting rule such as the number of holes in the button, to sort the same group in two different ways.
6. Once the children get an idea of sorting the same group in different ways, repeat the game with different rules and different objects to reinforce the concept of sorting.
Keep in mind to teach by using a game or fun activity for preschoolers and kindergarten kids as they tend to be more effective than worksheets.
What do different branches of government do? How are laws made and enforced? What does the President’s job involve? Who can become the US President? Why is voting a good way of making decisions in everyday life and in politics? What is special about Washington, DC? What are its major landmarks?

Teaching children the very basics of the English language is quite imperative because this then helps them when they reach the stage when they have to make the sentences on their own.
In short, when it comes to vowels, the information is necessary and teachers and parents need to tell the children what vowels are and where they are used so that the child can speak properly and make sentences in the best possible way.

Jamestown Settlement | Jamestown Colony | Educational Story for Kids

Learn the Alphabet | Letter J | Kids Academy
So how can you teach your child the letter J. Let’s start.
1. First you show them the letter written somewhere.
J
2. Then you show them how it is written.
• Draw the first line
• Then draw the curve at the end of this line to make the shape of J.
Use a chalk or a pencil or any colorful crayon or marker to make this more interesting to the kid.
3. Then you need to teach the kid the sound of J.
• J sounds as ‘Jeh’, which is the sound in Jam.
Repeat the sounds again and again to the kid so that he/she is well able to make out the difference between both the sounds.
The kid will be best able to learn when it is taught with real examples. The things that the kid has seen and knows the name of but does not know that it is actually from the alphabets.
So what examples can you give? Let me help you out.
1. For the sound ‘Jeh’, as in JAM.
Examples:
• Jeep
• Joker
• Juice
• Jog
• Jeans
• Jug
You can show pictures alongside these words so that the kid understands better what he/she is reading about. It would make things much easier for the kid. The more interesting it would be, the faster the kind would learn.
