Psychological literature shows that we are more sensitive to small losses and than small gains, with most people valuing a loss around 1.5-2.5 times as much as a gain. This means that we often turn down reasonable opportunities for fear of the loss. However over the course of our lives we will be exposed to many risks and opportunities and this invariably means that taking every small reasonable bet will leave us better off than saying no to all of them.
NOTE: The video is not saying to accept every bet, only those with reasonable odds (preferably in your favour), and those which if you lose would not cause significant financial or other damage. In those cases it is wise to be loss averse!

Today you will learn about the amazing animals called penguins. Did you know that penguins are birds? Like all birds, penguins are warm-blooded, have beaks and feathers, and lay eggs. However, penguins cannot fly. Instead of wings, they have flippers, which makes them excellent swimmers.
There are many types of penguins, and they differ in size and by the black and white patterns on their heads. Some species of penguins are the Little Penguin, the Rockhopper Penguin, the Adelie Penguin, the African Penguin, the King Penguin, and the Emperor Penguin.
Penguins are hunters. They hunt in the ocean, and their main food is fish. They can also eat krill, squid, and other small ocean creatures. Penguins’ enemies at sea are larger predators – such as sharks, orcas, and seals.
Penguins live only in the southern hemisphere. Most of them live in Antarctica which is an icy continent at the South Pole. You can also see penguins on the coasts of Africa, Australia, and South America.
Penguins have a thick layer of fat and tightly packed feathers which makes it possible for them to live in very cold climates. When on the ground, they hop or waddle on their hind feet. Penguins can also lie on their stomachs and slide quickly on ice and snow. Usually, penguins live in huge colonies, up to several thousand animals in one place. This helps them protect themselves and their babies against predators and keep warm in low temperatures. Penguins form pairs to lay eggs and take care of the chicks. The mother penguin lays one or two eggs, and the two parents sit on the eggs in turns to keep them warm.
Penguins are very friendly and curious animals. They have no fear of people and eagerly approach them.

👉 Learn how to solve quadratic equations using the quadratic formula. A quadratic equation is an equation whose highest power on its variable(s) is 2. The quadratic formula is a formula which can be used to find the roots of (solve) a quadratic equation.
The quadratic formula is given by x = (-b +/- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)) / 2a, where a is the coefficient of the quadratic term (x^2), b is the coefficient of the linear term (x) and c is the constant term. Thus, to solve a quadratic equation using the quadratic formula, first identify the 'a', 'b' and the 'c' of the quadratic equation and plug them into the quadratic formula and evaluate accordingly.
Note that if the 'a', 'b', or/and the 'c' of the quadratic equation is/are fraction(s), then it can be simpler to evaluate the quadratic equation by first getting rid of the fraction(s) by first multiplying through by the LCM of the denominator(s) of the fraction(s) before extracting a, b and c.

This algebra video tutorial provides a basic introduction into inverse functions. it explains how to find the inverse function by switching the x and y variables. It also explains how to prove if two functions are inverses of each by checking to see if the composite functions of f(g(x)) and g(f(x)) are equal to x. In addition, it explains how to graph the inverse function around the line y=x. Finally, it highlights the difference between the vertical line test and the horizontal line test as it relates to one to one functions and inverse functions. The vertical line test tells if a relation is a function. The horizontal line test tells you if the function is one to one and if the inverse relation is a function.

This physics video tutorial provides a basic introduction into the surface tension of water. Surface tension prevents small amounts of water from flattening out across a surface. Rather, it causes water to minimize its surface area and as a result, water forms small beadlike droplets. This video also discusses the capillary action of water as it is draw up through small tubes known as capillaries. Surface tension can be calculated by divided the force per unit length required to increase the area of a fluid. The surface tension opposes the force and attempts to minimize the area. The work required to increase the area of a fluid by a force is the surface tension multiplied by the increase in area. This video discusses the difference in the capillary effects between water and mercury. Water rises above the surrounding fluid level in a thin glass tube where as mercury descends below that line. The adhesive forces in water is greater than the cohesive forces. In Mercury, the cohesive forces are greater than the adhesive forces. Adhesive forces exist between different molecules and atoms. Cohesive forces exist between the same type of molecules and atoms.
