World War I was very hard on the Russian Empire. So hard, in fact, that it led to the end of the Russian Empire. As the global conflict ground on, Tsar Nicholas II faced increasing unrest at home. Today we'll learn about the Revolutions of 1917, the rise of Lenin, Trotsky, and the Bolsheviks, and the Reussian Civil War and the creation of the Soviet Union.

The Fascinating World of Fungi. Get yourself 20% off a Brilliant premium subscription here: https://brilliant.org/dos/
In this map of fungi we learn everything we can about fungi in about 20 minutes. They are hugely underappreciated as they are an entire kingdom of life, as rich as plants and animals, and we use them so much in our day to day lives beyond eating their mushrooms. They are really important for medicine (antibiotics, statins and many more) and nearly all plants on Earth rely on fungi to live. Amazing stuff. I learned so much making this video!

Solve simultaneous equations using the elimination method.
The steps are as follows:
The Elimination Method
Step 1: Multiply each equation by a number so that the two equations have the same coefficient for a selected variable.
Step 2: Subtract the second equation from the first.
Step 3: Solve this new equation to get the value of your first variable.
Step 4: Substitute into either Equation 1 or Equation 2 above and solve for the second variable.

Trigonometry is an easy way to work out the unknown sides and angles of a right angled triangle. The trick - know the side names - the opposite, hypotenuse, and adjacent, and know how and when to apply the trigonomic functions - sin, cos and tan. this is the only trick to getting it right every time!
In this lesson, students learn work out unknown angles using use sine, cosine, and tangent. You will need a scientific calculator for the problems in this lesson - and I'll show you how to access one on your computer.
