In a class demonstration, the teacher places different pill types ("chalk" pill, gel pill, and gel tablet) into separate glass beakers of vinegar, representing human stomach acid. After 20-30 minutes, the pills dissolve. Students observe which dissolve the fastest, and discuss the remnants of the various pills. What they learn contributes to their ongoing objective to answer the challenge question presented in lesson 1 of this unit.

Scientists overwhelmingly agree that our climate is changing, Earth is getting warmer, sea levels are rising, and it's primarily because of humans putting lots of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Yet 4 in 10 Americans aren't convinced. Here's what psychologists and sociologists have to say about why some people don't believe in climate science.

This physics video tutorial explains how to solve RC circuit problems with capacitors and resistors. It explains how to calculate the time constant using the resistance and capacitance values. It also shows you how to calculate the time it takes for the capacitor to charge to a certain level and how many time constants that value correspond to using natural logs. This tutorial provides the equation / formula of when a capacitor is charging and when it's discharging with a respect to time. This video contains plenty of examples and practice problems.

Have you ever heard of the painting we call the Mona Lisa? It's one of the most famous paintings in the whole world, and it was painted by one of the most famous artists ever: Leonardo da Vinci. In Leonardo da Vinci for Kids, you and your students will learn all about him and his life and accomplishments.
Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452, in a city called Vinci, Italy, which is pretty close to Florence. He lived during the Renaissance period, the start of the Modern Age. A lot of famous artists, writers, and philosophers lived during this time as well. As a kid, Leonardo loved being out in nature and never went to school. Instead, he learned reading, writing, and mathematics at home. At age 15, he became an apprentice for a prominent artist, but he soon surpassed the skills of his mentor.
Some of the most famous artworks in da Vinci's lifetime include The Last Supper, the Mona Lisa, and Vitruvian Man. Interesting fact: The Duke of Milan asked Leonardo da Vinci to paint a mural on his dining room wall. And The Last Supper is what he painted! Da Vinci also did a lot of important things besides art. In fact, he had over 20,000 pages of notes filled with inventions and other ideas.

This physics video tutorial explains the relationship between electric flux and gauss's law. It shows you how to calculate the electric flux through a surface such as a disk or a square and how to calculate it using a sphere and a cube. Electric flux is the product between the perpendicular component of the electric field relative to the surface and the area of that surface. This video discusses the difference between the angles phi and theta and the terms inward electric flux vs outward electric flux. This video contains plenty of examples and practice problems.

He examines the debate over the standards, along with some of the misconceptions that have accompanied their rollout in recent years.
