The year was 1822 and appeared in the Missouri Republican newspaper was an ad requiring 'One Hundred enterprising young men......' to trap beaver along the Missouri river for a period of up to three years.
One of the men to apply was Hugh Glass, a 40 year old frontiersman from Pennsylvania.

Battle of Brisbane
November 26-27, 1942
World War Two
During the pacific campaign of WWII, the American alliance with Australia was an important element of the allied Forces efforts to work together. Lying within reach of the Malay Archipelago and other Japanese controlled territories, Australia was a perfect base for the American Military to establish themselves.
It would serve as a starting point for the Pacific Campaign, along with deploying troops and equipment to the frontline of the fighting. The alliance between the two countries that was forged during the war has remained solid ever since however this was not always the case.

Throughout History, during conflicts and rebellions and wars, it has not been unusual for soldiers to be killed by their own side, either deliberately or by accident.
Friendly Fire or Fratricide relates to “accidental damage by allied troops to one’s own installations, aircraft, or personnel.” Friendly accidents that result in the deaths of fellow soldiers, often also referred to as a blue on blue incident, can happen quite easily, even in modern warfare where highly sophisticated weapons and reconnaissance equipment are involved. Friendly Fire has always been commonplace in warfare and will, unfortunately, continue to occur.

Have you ever heard of Taj Mahal or the Great Wall of China? Or perhaps you know something about Mount Everest or Mount Fuji. All of these amazing places are found in a country in Asia! In All about Asia for Kids, you will learn some really cool facts about this amazing continent. For instance, the first dinosaur eggs ever discovered were discovered in the Gobi Desert. In addition, both the highest and lowest points in the world are found in Asia.
Asia is an incredibly diverse continent in many ways. Because it is so big—it takes up about 30% of the earth's land!—it includes eight different climate types! It is also diverse in its cultures, religions, and plant and animal life. You will find panda bears in the alpine and mountain regions, but you will also find Asian elephants, polar bears, and Komodo dragons in other parts.
Asia is home to the two most-populated countries in the world: China and India. In fact, there are 1.4 billion people living in China, and India is home to 1.3 billion people! Some really interesting landmarks in Asia include the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City, the Dotonbori District, and The Great Buddha of Kamakura. There are so many more wonderful things to learn about this incredible continent!
