"If You're Happy and You Know It" is a popular nursery rhyme, credited to Dr. Alfred B. Smith, midway through the 1900s.

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that “If you’re happy and you know it” is one of the best children poem out there and almost all the people all around the world know this poem. Teaching kids the alphabets are the first step to their academic journey. This is the base of their education and it needs to be very clear from the beginning. Children start showing interest in learning the alphabet at about 2 years of age. They are learning to talk at this time and they are willing to grasp new ideas, new sounds and a brand-new start at their academics.

The speed at which a child learns the alphabet varies for every child. While some learn it fast and very easily others might take some more time and would the repetitions of alphabets to finally learn them by heart. Just because a child is slow does not mean that he/she is not intelligent enough. Every child is intelligent in their own way, it is the responsibility of the parents and teachers to discover the abilities of the child and let him/her learn the way he/she can.

There are many ways by which toddlers can be made to learn alphabets easily and very quickly. For a child at the age as young as 2 years, it is the responsibility of the parents to teach the child at home because when the child goes for the school admission he needs to be able to recognize the alphabets, repeat them, match the uppercase and lower-case letters and identify the sounds of the alphabets.

1. The alphabet song

It is classic. Sing the song around the house. When you introduce the alphabets to your child in a song form it will be more fun for him/her. They will recognize the tune and gradually will start singing along and in this way, the alphabets will start to become a part of his/her memory.

2. Use alphabet videos

Videos are very effective when it comes to teaching the child the alphabets. Because with videos the child will be engaged with both of their senses, the sight, and the hearing. They will be listening to the song while watching the alphabets appear on the screen simultaneously.
With the help of videos, the child will also be able to recognize the sound of the alphabet that is appearing on the screen. He/she will repeat the same sound and will eventually the song will be learned by heart by the child.
The videos will also be more fun for the child because of all the colors and animations that are mostly used in the videos created for kids. The colors and the animations will attract the child towards them and he/she will not feel bored with it. Choose a video that is interesting, colorful and has some animations to keep the child engaged in it. The child must enjoy while he is learning the alphabets because if he/she does not find it interesting enough, they will probably give it up and will not be interested and teaching them would become very difficult.

3. Read the alphabet book daily

The alphabet book is another great way to make your child familiar with the alphabets. Make your child familiar with the sounds of the alphabets as well. If your child feels interested in books than it will be very effective but if the kid is not very interested in books, like a lot of kids are not, then videos will be your day saver because every kid loves colors and fun things appearing on the screen.

4. Use toys

There are many alphabets toys available in the market. This will be a very fun way of teaching your child the alphabets because they will be learning while they are playing. Most of the things that kids learn are the things that they use and experience while they are playing. And the good thing is that it stays in their mind. So why not make alphabets also a new lesson while playing?

If your child needs practice with 2nd grade word problems, then look no further. This video series provides practice guided by teachers for common core 2nd grade math word problems. Word problems take understanding to a different level. Students need to use reading and comprehension skills, in addition to math skills, to be successful. Provide your learners with extra support, practice, and re-teaching opportunities with these instructional videos.

Kids Academy’s experienced instructors work word problems step by step and carefully explain how each problem is solved. The teachers use number lines and pictures to help students visualize the number story. And, students are reminded to read the word problem and underline the information that is needed to solve the problem. Keywords including less and fewer are emphasized but also words like “give” and “give away” that indicate subtraction operations.

Videos continue with word problems that require multiplication and division word stories. The video instructors provide explanations with pictures and use the whiteboard to show each step and computation. Find out how 20 cupcakes can be divided equally onto 4 plates and how many crackers total in 3 packs, with 6 crackers in each pack.

The last clip involves stories requiring that perimeter be calculated. Perimeter is defined and word problems that show real life examples of how math is needed to solve a problem or question is provided. For example, students read a problem to find out how many inches of ribbon is used to outline the perimeter of a card.

Word problems do not have to cause frustration among students. Practice 2nd grade math subtraction word problems with experienced teachers that give students different examples of how problems can be pictured and completed. Students can watch and even re-watch the teacher work the 2nd grade math worksheet word problems again to improve their understanding.

Social Studies for kindergarten and preschool students begins the moment they enter a classroom. A classroom is a community in itself outside the home. Social studies is defined as the relationship people with their environment and the world that they live in. First-grade social studies have this first lesson starting on the first day of class when the kid enters a new community. This social studies learning continues from the classroom to the neighborhood and then all around the world.
What is a community?
A child needs to know that “A community is a group of people working or living together in the same area.”
The social studies for kindergarten start teaching community houses in three steps.
1. The Classroom Community
The classroom of preschool is a small, safe community in which the kids learn the concepts of social studies with the help of pretend games, group activities and block building. With the help of these activities, kids learn to:

accept differences
deal with their emotions
resolving conflicts
develop social skills
share
take turns
responsibility

By performing small tasks in the classroom like turning out the lights, handing out water cups or napkins during lunch time, kids develop a sense of responsibility and work ethic of community homes.

2. The Neighborhood Community
Now you can help the kids to apply the concepts that they learned in class, it dealing with the neighborhood community. Tell them about the things and parts in a neighborhood community such as homes, playground, park, banks, police station, restaurants, and schools. Let the kids observe the stores and markets in their neighborhood and ask what kind of merchandise they sell. Make cardboard cut paste activities where kids have to paste the picture of merchandise in front of the correct store.

3. Class Trips
The third step in this learning is to take kids out on school trips and let them learn about other communities and places in the world. This interactive and practical learning is essential in teaching the basics of social studies for kindergarten.

Learning the alphabet is the foundation for phonics instruction and reading success. A young child faces a challenging task of learning the names of 26 capital and lowercase letters and each letter’s sound, or in some cases, more than one sound.

Also, factor in naming which letters are vowels and which letters are consonants and the task is even more challenging for young learners. Parents and teachers often question how to learn the alphabet in the best way. Children benefit and learn best when different materials and activities are used to present letters and sounds. Instructional videos can reinforce and provide enrichment activities when learning the alphabet.

The letter Z is a very fun letter to learn about. The letter’s sound is fun to learn because it is easier to distinguish between other letter sounds This video presents the letter Z and teaches the sound of Z. At the beginning of the video, the letter Z appears on the screen. Then the video voiceover enunciates the letter Z sound three times and then asks the viewer to say the sound of letter z.

The viewer is then shown the words zipper, zebra and zoo. These are word examples that young children are familiar with and now associate with the letter Z. The Z sound is pronounced when the word appears. The video length is excellent in that it is long enough to teach the letter Z and it’s sound, while not being too long so that a young child loses interest. The video’s animation of the zipper, zebra, and zoo appeals to young learners and is visually inviting.

Using instructional videos when helping children with how to learn the alphabet is fun and provides additional visual and auditory learning experiences for young children. Learning letter Z and other letters are easier and more interesting with different ways of learning the alphabet.
