Explore input and output tables with this fun video! In this lesson, students watch a fun animation with Teacher Michael as he demonstrates finding a rule of a function with robots and machines. Students determine whether or not input and output tables follow a rule by watching Teacher Michael perform a task with the robot to determine the rule. Each robot has a rule on its body and a set of numbers displayed on two different input and output tables.
Teacher Michael explains that the rule works for only one of the tables and shows the viewer how to determine which table the rule demonstrates. The video includes humor when the robot seems to nearly overheat or explode when the numbers tested do not demonstrate the rule. Teacher Michael clearly defines input as what goes in and output as what comes out using the robots and the machines. He then instructs the students to study the inputs and outputs to figure out the rule. Teacher Michael defines the rule as the code or operation that determines the output. The result is a visual that students doing 1st grade math easily understand. The video demonstrates finding a rule of a function with two different rules: +2 and -4. Teacher Michael also emphasizes testing the rule with more than one input to ensure the rule works for that table.
Understanding input and output tables and finding the rule of a function teaches students math patterns. Students doing 1st grade math can look at inputs and outputs and see that if the output is larger than the input then the rule is an addition rule and if the output is smaller than the input then the rule is a subtraction rule.
Watch your student’s number sense and confidence in math grow with an understanding of inputs and outputs.

In which John Green talks about the many revolutions of Latin America in the 19th century. At the beginning of the 1800s, Latin America was firmly under the control of Spain and Portugal. The revolutionary zeal that had recently created the United States and had taken off Louis XVI's head in France arrived in South America, and a racially diverse group of people who felt more South American than European took over. John covers the soft revolution of Brazil, in which Prince Pedro boldly seized power from his father, but promised to give it back if King João ever returned to Brazil. He also covers the decidedly more violent revolutions in Mexico, Venezuela, and Argentina. Watch the video to see Simón Bolívar's dream of a United South America crushed, even as he manages to liberate a bunch of countries and get two currencies and about a thousand schools and parks named after him.

It's Kids Academy, and welcome back to our channel! In this educational video for kids, we will read aloud the children's folk tale "The king of the cats". More interesting short stories and nursery rhymes you can find on our channel. Stay tuned!
The King of the Cats
Once there were two brothers who lived in a distant village. Elshender was the elder, and the younger was Fergus. They had a big black cat.
One day Fergus went out hunting alone. He told Elshender he’d be back for supper that evening. Evening came, but Fergus was still away.
Elshender was worried that his brother had gotten into trouble. At last, Fergus returned, wet and exhausted.
After supper, the brothers sat down by the fire, and their black cat lay between them. “Why were you away for so long?” Elshender asked.
“I’ve had a very strange adventure today. I hardly know what to say about it,” Fergus replied. And then he told his incredible story.
Fergus was going home when a thick fog came on the path. He climbed a tall tree to look around. In the trunk of the tree was a big hollow.
He could hear some music and see some light coming out of it. Fergus looked inside and gasped. He seemed to be looking into a church!
A funeral was taking place there. He saw a coffin surrounded by torches, all of them carried by cats! The coffin was marked with a crown.
Fergus got no farther, for the black cat jumped to his feet shrieking: “My stars! Old Peter’s dead, and now I’m the King of the Cats!”
Then he rushed up the chimney and was seen no more.

What is camouflage? Why do animals need to use it? Well, in Animal Camouflage, your kids and students will learn the answers to these questions! First off, there are many different kinds of camouflage, and we will discuss four of the main kinds that apply to animals in this video. Did you know that there is actually more than one reason that animals use camouflage?
A lot of animals use camouflage to hide from predators. The colors of their skin or fur helps them blend into the environment around them. Some animals, though, use camouflage to hunt. For the same reason that camouflage helps some animals hide to avoid predators, other animals blend into their surroundings to catch their prey unaware! In addition to hiding and hunting, a few animals use their coloring to communicate. Take the chameleon, for example. Most people think chameleons use color changing to fool predators. But that's not actually true! Chameleons change colors to communicate to other chameleons! They change color to communicate danger, to attract a mate, or simply to signal a change of environment.
These animals are so cool! You and your kids will discover just how many different types of animals take advantage of this amazing characteristic. And maybe you just might stumble upon one of these incredible creatures!
We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about all these amazing and colorful animals! If you want to learn more, head over to our website and download our free lesson plan about animal camouflage, which is full of activities, worksheets, and more!

Trigonometry on Khan Academy: Big, fancy word, right? Don't be fooled. Looking at the prefix, tri-, you could probably assume that trigonometry ("trig" as it's sometimes called) has something to do with triangles. You would be right! Trig is the study of the properties of triangles. Why is it important? It's used in measuring precise distances, particularly in industries like satellite systems and sciences like astronomy. It's not only space, however. Trig is present in architecture and music, too. Now you may wonder...how is knowing the measurement and properties of triangles relevant to music?? THAT is a great question. Maybe you'll learn the answer from us in these tutorials!
About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps.
