Students act as structural engineers and learn about forces and load distributions as they follow the steps of the engineering design process to design and build small-scale bridges using wooden tongue depressors and glue. Teams brainstorm ideas that meet the size and material design constraints and create prototype bridges of the most promising solutions. They test their bridges to see how much weight they can hold until they break and then determine which have the highest strength-to-weight ratios. They examine the prototype failures to identify future improvements. This activity is part of a unit in which multiple activities are brought together for an all-day school/multi-school concluding “engineering field day” competition.

Anthropic released a free Claude AI course on Anthropic Academy — and I walked through the entire thing so you don't have to. In under 10 minutes you'll learn what Claude Code actually is, why it's safer than indexed alternatives like GitHub Workspace, how to install it, and the three CLAUDE.md files that change how the agent behaves.

I'm Ani — a senior tech consultant in Stockholm building AI tools for enterprise finance. I take official AI courses on real production projects and share what's worth your time (and what isn't).

The wheels on the bus go round and round,
all through the town!

The people on the bus go up and down.
up and down.
up and down.
The people on the bus go up and down,
all through the town!

The horn on the bus goes beep, beep, beep.
beep, beep beep.
beep, beep, beep.
The horn on the bus goes beep, beep, beep.
all through the town!

The wipers on the bus go swish, swish, swish.
swish, swish, swish.
swish, swish, swish.
The wipers on the bus go swish, swish, swish,
all through the town!

The signals on the bus go blink, blink, blink.
blink, blink, blink.
blink, blink, blink.
The signals on the bus go blink, blink, blink,
all through the town!

The motor on the bus goes zoom, zoom, zoom.
zoom, zoom, zoom.

The motor on the bus goes zoom, zoom, zoom,
all through the town!

The babies on the bus go waa, waa, waa.

all through the town!

The parents on the bus go shh, shh, shh.
shh, shh, shh.
shh, shh, shh.
The parents on the bus go shh, shh, shh,
all through the town!

The mummy on the bus says I love you.
I love you, I love you
The daddy on the bus says I love you, too.
All through the town.

The English language is very interesting, if you look at the words closely you will see some repetitive combination of alphabets ending the words. These letters that end a word are called ‘suffixes. These suffixes change the meaning of words and can create new words. In this episode, we talk about 6 suffixes:
-er
-ness
-ful
-less
-ly
-able
-fulI

So, let's see what these suffixes can do.
-er
When we add -er to a word it makes a word that means a person who does something. For example:
• Painter
• Singer
• Player

- ness
When we add -ness to a word it means ‘the act of’. Which means that something is being done with some kind of quality. For example:
• Greatness
• Kindness
• Happiness

When we add the suffix -ful to a word it changes its meaning to ‘full of’. For example:
• Colorful
• Grateful

-less
When we add -less to a word it means ‘without’, which means that something is without the word that’s in the start of this word. For example:
• Homeless
• Helpless

-ly
The suffix -ly can be used to answer two questions, how often and how. For example:
1. How did she act? Answer: Badly
2. How often does she dance? Answer: Weekly

-able
-able simply means ‘can’. That something can be done. For example:
• Respectable
• Comfortable

So now you know the suffixes. Find words in a storybook ending with these suffixes, just as a practice exercise. These are very important to learn about good English grammar for children.

This week Jacob and Adriene teach you about marginal analysis, which you're using RIGHT NOW! The video is coming from inside the house! Or something. You'll learn how marginal analysis guides the decision making if cities, nations, companies, and amusement park enthusiasts. We'll also look at the idea of elasticity, and what people are willing to pay for certain stuff based on the supply. Why is a Van Gogh worth more than an OBEY poster? (hint: it's because they're still cranking out the OBEY posters, and Vincent is dead) All this and more on Crash Course Economics!

Meter? …or Metre?
Try CuriosityStream and learn something new today: http://curiositystream.com/smart
↓ More info and sources below ↓

Why is a meter a meter? The meter is the world’s ultimate measure, but how did it become “the” meter? What is this measurement based on? The story of this revolution in measurement traces its roots to the French Revolution. Scientists decided that an equal and united people should have equal and united measures. So they sent a pair of young astronomers out to measure the world, and invent the meter. Little did they know they’d find nothing but war, deception, and strife along the way. As a result of this ill-fated mission, the meter carries an error that still persists today. Still think the metric system is so perfect?

This episode would not have been possible without one incredible book: “The Measure of All Things” by Ken Alder.
There’s so much more to this story that we couldn’t fit in the video, and this book has it all. War, madness, deception, shame, spies, the dawn of the Enlightenment, the birth of modern economics, lots more beheadings… Highly recommended!
