Students investigate the property dependence between liquid and solid interfaces and determine observable differences in how liquids react to different solid surfaces. They compare copper pennies and plastic "coins" as the two test surfaces. Using an eye dropper to deliver various fluids onto the surfaces, students determine the volume and mass of a liquid that can sit on the surface. They use rulers, scales, equations of volume and area, and other methods of approximation and observation, to make their own graphical interpretations of trends. They apply what they learned to design two super-surfaces (from provided surface treatment materials) that are capable of holding the most liquid by volume and by mass. Cost of materials is a parameter in their design decisions.

Explore input and output tables with this fun video! In this lesson, students watch a fun animation with Teacher Michael as he demonstrates finding a rule of a function with robots and machines. Students determine whether or not input and output tables follow a rule by watching Teacher Michael perform a task with the robot to determine the rule. Each robot has a rule on its body and a set of numbers displayed on two different input and output tables.

Teacher Michael explains that the rule works for only one of the tables and shows the viewer how to determine which table the rule demonstrates. The video includes humor when the robot seems to nearly overheat or explode when the numbers tested do not demonstrate the rule. Teacher Michael clearly defines input as what goes in and output as what comes out using the robots and the machines. He then instructs the students to study the inputs and outputs to figure out the rule. Teacher Michael defines the rule as the code or operation that determines the output. The result is a visual that students doing 1st grade math easily understand. The video demonstrates finding a rule of a function with two different rules: +2 and -4. Teacher Michael also emphasizes testing the rule with more than one input to ensure the rule works for that table.

Understanding input and output tables and finding the rule of a function teaches students math patterns. Students doing 1st grade math can look at inputs and outputs and see that if the output is larger than the input then the rule is an addition rule and if the output is smaller than the input then the rule is a subtraction rule.
Watch your student’s number sense and confidence in math grow with an understanding of inputs and outputs.

Universities are battling AI out of fear of cheating and job loss—but AI is already everywhere, from homes to workplaces. It's time to embrace it and turn it into a powerful tool for education.
In this video, I share 5 practical suggestions for universities to integrate AI responsibly, creating more productive, creative, and empowered students and leaders. The fifth one is the game-changer—stick around!
Key points covered:

Accept AI as a learning tool
Teach ethical AI use
Promote transparency
Position AI as an assistant, not replacement
Redesign assessments and train teachers first

AI isn't the enemy of education—fear and resistance are. Let's prepare students for real-world jobs where AI is already dominant.
What do you think? Should universities embrace AI fully? Drop your thoughts in the comments! 👇

Action words are all around us and in this video we learn what they are and how to identify them. Your kids will learn that action words are VERBS! It is important for kids to understand verbs and by the time they are done with this video they should be able to identify and use verbs in sentences. So... get ready to have some fun with your kids as we run in place, sing, talk and learn all about verbs in this fun introductory video.

All sentences have verbs and subjects. A subject is the part of a sentence that contains a person or a thing which performs an action or verb. In the video your kids will practice samples like:

“James runs down the street.”

In this sentence James is the subject. He is the person performing the action. Remember that verbs are action words. What action is James performing in this sentence, or what is the verb in this sentence? The action word or verb is: Runs

There are many other practice opportunities in the video and in our free comprehensive lesson plan that can be downloaded here: https://learnbright.org/lesson....s/language-arts/intr

It's an easy-to-use route to resources, faster than scrolling through videos on YT!

Before you come to this, you need to be confident making new equivalent fractions.

Quick review of how to add fractions when they have the same denominator
(0:21 - 0:36) Demo of adding 2 fractions with different denominators, using fractions model diagrams. 1/4 + 1/2
(0:46 - 1:33) Then, keeping that model in view, we dip into our Fractions Skill-kit to make a common denominator, and THEN we add.
(2:03 - 3:25) Problem 2: 5/6 + 2/3 = 1/2
(3:33 - 5:28) Problem 3: 1/3 + 1/6 + 5/8
If you CAN reduce, you MUST reduce, for your final answer. No improper fractions in your answer.
As always, if it helps you, please help me... with a Thumbs-Up.
Thanks very much!

Hent materialet gratis her: https://anettekmatematik.com/byg-sma-tal/

Byg små tal er et værksted der ligger i forlægelse af værkstedet “Byg tallet”, som du også kan finde her på min side.
Senere kan eleverne så fortsætte med værkstedet “Byg store tal”
I dette værksted skal eleverne bygge tallet med små perler, holde øje med lige og ulige, bygge tallet med mine talbrikker og skrive regnestykket. Så der er rigtig mange gode opgaver indbygget i værkstedet.
Værkstedet egner sig typisk til 0-1.klasse.
