In which Craig Benzine breaks down the different types of bureaucracies. I mean sure, they’re all part of the executive branch, but some work more directly with the President than others. Some bureaucracies exist solely to independently regulate industry whereas others are expected to operate like corporations and make a profit. And on top of all that, some of these agencies have sub-agencies! It can all get pretty complicated, so we’ll try to discuss some of the most significant agencies out there and the ones you hear a lot about on the news. We’ll talk about how they seem to have steadily gained more and more power, and of course, we’ll talk about what all the agencies are for in the first place!

I took a boat through 96 million black plastic balls on the Los Angeles reservoir to find out why they're there. The first time I heard about shade balls the claim was they reduce evaporation. But it turns out this isn't the reason they were introduced.

The balls are made of high density polyethylene (HDPE) which is less dense than water so they float on the surface of the reservoir even if they break apart. They are 10cm (4 inches) in diameter and contain about 210ml of water. So the main reason they are on the reservoir is to block sunlight from entering the water and triggering a chemical reaction that turns harmless bromide into carcinogenic bromate. This effect occurs with prolonged exposure to bromate so regulators insist that levels be kept below 10 microgram per liter on average over a 12 month period.

If you want to teach your child about measuring the length of a house and if you want the learning process to be effective and efficient then yes, you are at the place you should be. You see, teaching children about measurement and educating them on how it’s done can be quite daunting but well, it’s not impossible and on top of everything, you can’t even just ignore this or let it go.

For measuring length, you can use different techniques, like you can play some interesting games in which you both will be measuring an object or a floor in your house. Now, even before this, you should make sure that your little one has clear concepts about centimeter and inches. You can’t just start teaching him how to measure the length of a place or an object until unless he is clear about the inches and centimeter thing.

For this, you can use online videos like the ones on Youtube. There are people out there who give free Youtube lessons about measuring lengths of houses and objects too. So, if you want your child to learn in a quicker and more efficient way then you can make him watch these videos because visuals always work on kids. If not this then you can opt for different fun activities and games and you can even use textbooks for that.

The point to tell you all of this is that if you want to teach your child something, you just need to make sure that the learning process is fun for him/her. You want your little one to pay attention to what you are saying and you want him to be active and that’s only possible if you are ready to invest some time in coming up with some fun activities.

Vocabulary is a very essential part of the kids learning. A good vocabulary ensures better speaking skills which are a very important skill to have when you are communicating in public. Moreover, a good vocabulary also makes things a lot more interesting, using the same words again and again for the whole of your life will make things boring.

The kid’s minds are like an empty canvas, what you paint on this canvas is what that matters. You can make the kids learn any words at this age because their minds are fresh and are ready to take in every new thing. So how can you build the vocabulary of a 3rd-grade kid? Let’s find out.

1. Use pictures to describe the word
It is very important that the kid relates the word to something real, for this you would need to use pictures with every word so that the child can create an image of that word in their mind which makes learning a lot faster and easier.

2. Use antonyms /synonyms
Synonyms/antonyms are a very effective way to develop a good vocabulary of the child. Using Synonyms/antonyms in sentences will make learning much faster and easier. So, introduce this concept to kids to add more and more words to their vocabulary.

3. The more she hears the word, the faster she will learn
Whatever word you want your child to learn, use it frequently in conversations and in sentences. The more the child will hear that word, the faster he will learn.
These are the most effective ways to build vocabulary for kids easy and fast.

An important math skill is learning how to organize data and information. When data is organized, then comparisons are made and solutions to problems are found. Young learners use tally marks, bar graphs and picture graphs to read and understand different types of information.
Kids Academy has a variety of worksheet activities for students working on the 1st and 2nd grade levels. Worksheets that teach about tally marks for 1st grade explain what tally marks are, how to write tally marks correctly and how to use tally marks to represent numbers. Students enjoy the bright pictures of insects and animals on these exercises.
These instructional worksheets provide beneficial practice on graphs as well. The videos about bar graphs for 2nd grade show how a graph displays data or information represented by a bar that reaches a given number on the graph. Students will read the graph to see how many objects are in a pencil case or how tall aliens are. The worksheets utilize easier one-step and more challenging two-step questions. The video teachers show students different strategies for solving the problems.
Students also learn that information is organized in a picture graph. In this type of graph, pictures or symbols represent data. The video teacher explains picture graphs for 2nd grade clearly and instructs the students on how to read the graph and then answer questions about the data. In both the bar graph and picture graph instruction, the teachers remind students to look for keywords such as “in all” or “altogether” to determine what operation to perform to solve the problem.
Use these worksheets as great teaching, re-teaching or enrichment resources in your math classroom. These videos are ideal for distance learning and are great options for homeschooling families as well. What is a fact? What is an opinion? And what is the difference between the two? In Fact and Opinion for Kids, you and your student(s) will learn how to tell the difference between a statement of fact and one that is simply a person's opinion.

This video starts out with a great example that demonstrates opinions. Andrew loves pizza, his mom loves ice cream, and his dad loves apples. None of these foods are the best food in the world to everyone, so each person's favorite food choice is their opinion. Facts are statements that can be proven. The sun is yellow. The sky is blue. These are facts that people can prove quite easily. Summer is the best time of year. Soccer is the most fun sport to play. These statements cannot be proven. They are opinions because people prefer different things. Some people may believe summer to be the best time of year. Others, though, might prefer autumn or winter weather even more.

Some opinions can be supported by facts. While they are still opinions, they can be considered widely accepted because of the facts that support them. There are two reasons to know the difference between facts and opinions. One reason is that listening to others' opinions help you better understand them and know them better. The other reason is that knowing the facts about something helps you make important decisions.

A century is a pretty long period of time, so a lot can happen in those hundred years. Historians divide time into centuries and decades to make it easy to study events and other things from specific times in history. In 20th Century for Kids, you will learn about lots of different events, inventions, historical figures, and other things from the year 1901 through the year 2000 of American history.

The early years of the 20th century brought with it the first airplane from the Wright brothers, Oreo cookies, and the Spanish Influenza pandemic. Right after that global pandemic, scientists developed insulin and penicillin, which saved millions of lives. This is also when the Great Depression occurred, and many people lives and lifestyles changed drastically.

In the next few decades, Amelia Earhart took flight, the Monopoly board game made its debut, and the second World War began and ended. In addition, the time around the middle of the century introduced M&Ms and Cheerios to the world. Velcro, color TV, and seatbelts were all invented in the 1950s, and this is also when Charlie Brown, Disneyland, and McDonald's started.

One of the most significant decades is the 60s, which focused a lot of civil rights. This is also the decade during which man stepped on the moon, the first super bowl was held, and the Beatles became famous. The last few decades likewise brought about lots of interesting inventions, products, and events. For instance, the first Star Wars movie released in 1977, and the first Harry Potter book was published in 1997.
