A lot of videos have covered the general overview of the discovery of gravitational waves, what they are, the history of the search, when they were found but I wanted to delve into the absurd science that made the detection possible.
When scientists want one megawatt of laser power, it's not just for fun (though I'm sure it's that too), it's because the fluctuations in the number of photons is proportional to their square root, making more powerful beams less noisy (as a fraction of their total). The smoothest mirrors were created not for aesthetic joy but because when you're trying to measure wiggles that are a fraction the width of a proton, a rough mirror surface simply won't do.

On first glance it's surprising that origami -- a centuries old art of folding paper to achieve particular aesthetics -- is applicable to engineering. But upon closer consideration there are a lot of reasons methods developed for paper folding are also applicable to engineering: origami allows you to take a flat sheet of material and convert it to almost any shape only by folding. Plus for large flat structures, origami provides a way of shrinking dimensions while ensuring simply deployment - this is particularly useful for solar arrays in space applications. Furthermore, motions designed to take advantage of the flexibility of paper can also be used to form compliant mechanisms for engineering like the kaleidocycle. Since the principles of origami are scalable, mechanisms can also be dramatically miniaturized.

Two of the most common winter season songs are featured at the beginning of this Christmas songs compilation for kids.
Children enjoy seeing Santa moving from housetop to housetop, dropping presents down the chimney. Then, some fun animal friends enter the room one at a time to take or unwrap a gift. Bear gets some honey, and the elephant gets a French horn. During the animated story, children can sing We Wish You a Merry Christmas. The lyrics to the first two verses of the song stream across the bottom of the video.
The Jingle Bells music video depicts a Christmas scene complete with Santa and his sleigh and a town Christmas tree to decorate. This familiar tune, along with the bright and fun animation, is an excellent addition to your holiday music plans and lessons.

What do you know about the many African countries? Have you ever visited any of the famous landmarks? Learn all about this beautiful continent in Facts about Africa for Kids. You and your students will discover just how amazing Africa is.
Almost right off the bat, you and your kids will learn that Africa is considered the Mother Continent or Cradle of Mankind. The reason is that Africa is the oldest inhabited continent on the earth. In fact, scientists have found fossils of humans and their ancestors through every stage of evolution. Africa is divided into 54 countries, which is the most of any continent. It is home to over 3,000 indigenous peoples, over 1,000 languages, and has a total population of 1.1 billion people.
Africa is surrounded by water, and its landmass is divided almost equally in half by the equator. The terrain includes a variety of habitats, including mountains, tropical rainforests, savannahs, and deserts. With such a variety of terrain, it's no wonder there is also a lot of different animals as well. These include lions, elephants, hippopotamuses, and zebras. But it also includes gorillas, snakes, and other tropical animals. You may be surprised to learn that the most dangerous animal toward humans is not a lion or crocodile. It's actually the hippo! Hippos are the most likely animal to attack a human.
