Today we are going to learn about a very special form of relationship between species: symbiosis!
Normally when people talk about "symbiosis", they're talking about two or more different organisms cooperating to better survive and reproduce. The classical definition of symbiosis is actually much broader than this, and for good reason. Here we will look how evolutionary biologists understand symbiosis, all its different forms, and why it matters!

Hello friends! Welcome to a new Happy Learning video.
Today, weโre going to learn about of the first and most important of human civilisations, today, weโre going to learn aboutโฆ Mesopotamia!
The word Mesopotamia means โbetween two riversโ in greek! So this civilisation was named because it was situated between two rivers: Tigris and Euphrates.
Within these fertile lands, the first ever city-states were born, four thousand years before Christ! The most important cities were Ur, Urk and Lagash.
These city-states were independent from each other, like small different countries. They were surrounded by a great wall to protect themselves. The Ziggurat, a temple where priests lived, was built in the center of the city. Here, they controlled the trade, agriculture and taxes. The supreme priest had the city's political and religious power
Agricultural fields spread across these cities, which were traversed by irrigation channels that used the riverโs water to water cultivations and animals would drink. Most of the cityโs citizens were farmers and shepherds, but there were also artesans that sold their own products at the markets.
Because of their well-being, both cities began to grow, but so did the conflicts between them due to the control of land.
These battles arose military leaders that little by little turned into monarchs, Kings!
Between the years three thousand a one thousand B.C., Mesopotamian lands were conquered by various towns or cities. The first one was the Akkadian Empire, then the Babylonian Empire, followed by the Assyrian Empire and finally the Persian Empire.
So weโve got to know part of Mesopotamiaโs history, but do you know why it has been such an important civilisation for humanity?
Well there are many reasons! The first one is, because Mesopotamia was where, around 3500 B.C., the first written language was found. At first, it was composed by simple drawings called pictograms, look at these examples.
Over time, these drawings were simplified and started to transform into symbols, which is what we know today as cuneiform (cuniform) writing. As you can see, this writing was made with a wooden punch over clay boards.
Another great contribution mesopotamia made was its art. They created the arc and vault, that helped them construct magnificent temples and palaces. To decorate the walls and doors within these temples and palaces they used paintings like this one, where the King Ashurbanipal is hunting lions.
By the way, before we say goodbye, Do you know what country Mesopotamia is today?
Well itโsโฆ Irak! you can see it here.

What are you waiting for? The ecosystem
Hello friends and welcome to a new Happy Learning video. Today we are going to learn about the ecosystems.
Butโฆdo you know what an ecosystem is? An ecosystem is a community of living things in a given area. For example, this river is an ecosystem and is made up of water, the river bed, the river banks and all the living creatures which live in it, such as this frog, these lily pads or this shy duck which hides as soon as it sees us.
An ecosystem can be very small, such as this puddle, or very big such as this enormous desertโฆ
The ecosystems are made up of two components: the Abiotic and the Biotic components.
The Abiotic components include the non-living things like the ground, the climate, or the water and it determines which living things can survive in an ecosystem. For example a desert is a very dry place and so only animals and plants which can survive without much water can live there, like this slippery lizard or these humped back camels.
On our planet there are loads of ecosystems, and they are divided into aquatic and terrestrial. (And these can be either aquatic or terrestrial)
There are two types of aquatic ecosystems: freshwater and Marine.
The freshwater ones are those which have freshwater such as rivers or lakes where Lily pads, otters, or frogs liveโฆWhoops, and here are our friendly ducks againโฆ
The marine ecosystems are those found in the sea such as this beautiful colorful reef so full of life, fish, corals, octopuses and many more fascinating creatures.
When talking about the terrestrial ecosystems we imagine prairiesโฆ large plains in the savanna were zebras or antelope like to grazeโฆjungles where trees are extremely high and are the homes for these monkeys called orangutansโฆor even mountain ecosystems where there tends to be plenty of snow.
Well now we know a bit more about ecosystems and as always, on behalf of Happy Learning we ask you to please look after themโฆ they are so beautiful, we mustnโt destroy them. (We must preserve them)

Hello friends! Welcome to a new Happy Learning video.
Today, weโre going to know why the stars, shine!
In summer, I love to watch the stars shine bright. They make me think and look back on many thingsโฆ
Stars shine because they are gigantic burning hot gas spheres that release heat and light. They are so bright because there are atomic reactions inside them, that convert hydrogen into helium. Their temperature can reach 10.000 degrees centigrade. According to the colours they give off, astronomers know if they are hotter or cooler.
Our sun is a medium sized yellow star. Stars smaller than the sun are reddish and larger ones are blue.
Stars live for thousands of millions of years, but they always end up becoming extinguished.
When we look into the sky at night we can see hundreds and hundreds of stars. Some of them, either because they are very big or because they are closer to Earth, are very visible. Others, which are smaller or further away are tiny points that can hardly be seen.
At a glance from Earth, we can see about 2000 stars, but really, there are thousands and thousands of stars in the universe, but nobody knows exactly how many there are.
In the past, stars were very important for sailorโs orientation. Because of the Polar Star, the Ursa Major or Venus, sailors knew what directions to take and got to their destinations safe and sound. To see the stars better, they used devices such as the telescope.
The telescope is a gadget that works with light and is used to watch far away objects a lot clearer than by glance.
Butโฆ who was the inventor of the telescope?
The truth is we donโt know with certainty, but it was Galileo in 1609 who, using an invention by a Dutch man called Lippershey (Lipershy), built the first telescope that was used to look at the stars and because world famous.
Well, now we know why stars shine and the instrument so we can look at them. The truth is I love stars. What about you?

What are you waiting for? Hello friends, and welcome to a new Happy learning video.
Today we are going to learn about the wettest animals on the planet...presenting the fish.
In almost all the places where you can find water, be it either salt water or fresh water, you can also find fish. There are fish of all sorts of sizes, colors and shapes, and yet they all have common characteristics which we should know.
Fish are vertebrates, their skeleton is made up of bones or cartilage. They are also cold blooded, their body temperature is not constant, meaning it depends on the water temperature.
This fish appears to be really cold!
All fish have extremities in the form of fins, as you can see in this image, dorsal fins, caudal fin which is the tail, pectoral fin, pelvic fin and anal fin. Another really important fact that one must remember is that almost all fish are covered in scales.
The gills are the fishยดs respiratory organ. The respiration process is very interesting; water enters through the mouth and goes to the gills; the gills then get the oxygen and distributes it to the rest of the body through the blood vessels , then the water is expelled through an opening which can be found in the majority of fish behind their head, which is called the gill flap.
Fish reproduce by laying eggs, therefore they are oviparous, and their fertilization can be either external or internal. Some fish are excellent fathers, like this one who protects his babies inside his mouth. It looks as if he is going to eat them but he is actually protecting them. Look at that! itยดs amazing isn't it?
Almost all fish are carnivores, eating other fish smaller than themselves and therefore they each have different ways of defending themselves. The most common action to take when feeling threatened is to escape as fast as possible, as in to swim away rapidly. But there are other ways of defending oneself which are much more original. For example, this Clown fish hides itself among these venomous anemones, others imitate or camouflage themselves with their background, by obtaining the color and shape of the plants and rocks around them...Can you see a fish in this image? Wow, well there was indeed a fish and a very hungry one!
Look, this is the largest fish in the world, the Whale shark. Even though it is called a whale shark you must remember it is a shark and not a whale. Whales are not fish, they are aquatic mammals, like theses friendly dolphins. So never forget, whales and dolphins are not fish but mammals.
Now I have a very important fact you must always remember, its extremely important. As you already know fish as well as many other animals, live in water...water is essential for life, and for this reason we must look after it, we must protect it. There are people who dirty nature by throwing rubbish into the rivers and oceans, without thinking about the terrible consequences they are causing. The plastics and substances which contaminate the water, kill a huge amount of animals. Fish, turtles, dolphins, whales, sharks and many more die every day because of contamination. Water is a source of life. We must take care of it and protect it. So now you know, look after nature so that all living creatures can live happily.
Good bye friends, until the next Happy learning video.

Hello Happy Friends, Are you ready to Learn? Iโm Sarah
Today, weโre going to go over everything we know aboutโฆ cells! With a Q&A game!
Letโs start!
Which one of these living things is composed by cells?
Aniamals and plants
Placton or
All living things
Of course! All living things!
Letโs get to know a little more...
Cells are the smallest parts in living things, and we are all composed... by cells. Some, only have a single cell and we call them unicellular, for example, some bacteria. Others have many cells and we call them multicellular, like animalsโฆ or plants. By the way.. Did you know that human beings have hundreds of billions of cells?
Wow! Interesting!
Yes, we do have cells, indeed.
Letโs head to the next question. This one is a little bit tougher.
Which is the most important part of a cell?
Membrane
Nucleus
Or cytoplasm
Oh look! The most important part is the nucleus, but there are other parts which are also very important.
Letโs get to know a little more about them.
In these images, you can see a cell and its most important parts. But you need to know that the nucleus is the most important organelle of all and thatโs why we make it stand out from the rest. The nucleus is like the brain in a cell and it controls its functions. Within it, there are genes, which transmit the hereditary characteristics from parent to offspring. These crocodile babies look very similar to their parents, because of genes.
The truth is that when theyโre small, theyโre so cute, but when they grow upโฆ not so much.
Have you been paying attention to the explanation and observed the cell diagram properly? Yes? Well then youโre going to find the next question very easy.
What can we find in the cytoplasm?
The membrane
The cell wall
The organelle
Or bacterias
Of course! The organelle! Letโs look at the diagram again to learn a little more
The cytoplasm, what a werid word! Is a liquid substance which is found between the membraneโฆ and the nucleus, and here, in the cytoplasm, we can findโฆ the organelle. The organelle are different between themselves and each one has a distinct function. Some, for example, some are in charge of digesting food and others of eliminating waste.
Thatโs so cool! I love learning so many new things. As always, Iโll tell you that the most important thing is not having answered all the questions correctly, but rather having learnt and always wanting to learn more.
Goodbye Happy Friends, See you next time!
I hope youโre always ready to learn!

Educational Videos and songs for Kids. Today weโre going to learn about mammals!
The diversity of mammals is amazing. They can be as huge as these whales,or as tiny as this cute little balancing mouse. They can be noisy like this howler monkey, or quiet like this hedgehog with its sharp, pointy spines.
Even though theyโre amazingly diverse, all mammals have a number of common characteristics you should know about, so you can recognize and differentiate them.
All mammals are viviparous, they are born from their mothersโ womb. In their early stages of life, they feed on milk, which they get from their mothers' breasts where the mammary glands are. And thatโs why theyโre called mammals. And when theyโre little, theyโre so cute, arenโt they?
Mammals reproduce by internal fertilization when a sperm cell and an egg join inside the female.
As you can see, they have teeth inside their mouths, and lips around them so they can eat and suck milk.
Most mammalsโ bodies are covered with hair, and all mammals breathe with their lungs, even if they live in the sea. Look at these dolphins coming to the surface for air.
The body temperature of mammals doesnโt depend on whether itโs cold or hot outside, because they can maintain their own internal temperature.
Almost all mammals are terrestrial, like camels, and jaguars. Some live in the sea and are called Marine mammals, like these dolphins, and these seals,There's even a flying mammal, bats are the only mammal that flies.
Mammals have four limbs, which vary depending on where they live. Land mammals have legs,so they can walk, and run when they need to,and Jump.,and sometimes even climb.
Marine mammals have fins so they can swim very fast...
And flying mammals have wings so they can fly through the sky...
Do you know which is the most wonderful mammal that lives on Earth?Human beings! People are mammals too...
How mammals feed
Depending on what they eat, mammals can be classified into different groups.
Herbivores only eat plants and their teeth are especially designed for grinding. Horses, sheep and llamas are herbivorous mammals. Some very special herbivores are called ruminants. They swallow their food almost without chewing it, and some of it is digested normally, but some of it is stored in their stomach, and when they want to, they regurgitate it into their mouth to digest it again. Cows, giraffes and goats are ruminants.
Carne means skin or meat in Latin, and thatโs what carnivores eat: the flesh of other animals. Their teeth are large and sharp for hunting and tearing at their food.
Carnivores that eat insects and other invertebrates are called insectivores, like these anteaters.
Omnivorous mammals feed on both meat and plants. Bears, monkeys and humans are omnivores: we can eat a tasty burger with lettuce and tomato.
ย So, let's remember,
Mammals are viviparous, and in their early stages of life they feed on milk from their motherโs breasts,They have lips and breathe with their lungs,Their body temperature does not depend on the environment they are in, and depending on their food sources, they may be herbivores, carnivores or omnivores.
Easy, right?
So goodbye for now, everybody! And donโt forget to subscribe to Happy Learning!

Recommended video: The Earth and its layers
https://youtu.be/bXdFBAk6MBM
-----
Hello friends! Welcome to a new Happy Learning video.
Today, weโre going to learn about The earth's atmosphere!
The layer of gas surrounding the Earth is called the atmosphere and is an essential element for life on Earth to exist!
It makes all living things be able to breathe, it protects us from rays originating from both the Sun and space, and it also prevents large changes in temperature during day and night.
The atmosphere isnโt homogenous, instead, it changes its composition according to its height, it becomes less and less dense, with less and less air.
Because of those differences, we divide the atmosphere in 5 layers called the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere and exosphere. Weโre going to know more about each one of them!
The troposphere is the interior layer, the closest one to the earthโs surface. It reaches 12km in height and within it, is where the phenomenon we call the weather happens, the climate.
The stratosphere reaches an average height of 50km, although in some points it reaches 70!
Inside the stratosphere, we can find the ozone layer, which is essential fot life beacause it filters Ultraviolet Light coming from the sun. If it didnโt exist, these rays would end life on our planet.
The mesosphere is situated between 50 and 80 km over the earthโs surface. Itโs the coldest layer in the atmosphere, it can reach less than 90 degrees below 0! Itโs so cold!!!
The thermosphere, also called ionosphere, reaches 400 km! Within it, space shuttles travel around the earth and itโs also where the mysterious northen lights. Theyโre beautiful arenโt they??
The exosphere is the last layer in the atmosphere and is at a height between 400 and 2000
km! After this, no more gases exist, only the emptyness of space.
Now we know all about the atmosphere and its layers, but we canโt say goodbye without talking about pollution.
Human activity releases many gases that contaminate our atmosphere. Smoke from factories, cars, lots of the daily activities we do, are creating changes in the atmosphereโs composition. All this produces climate change, floods, acid rain that terminates woodsโฆ A polluted atmosphere puts the planetโs, and all living thingsโ health in danger. We need to take the necesary measures so we pollute as little as possible and take care of our planet and the atmosphere so we can carry on enjoying all of natureโs wonders.
