Recommended video: The Earth and its layers
https://youtu.be/bXdFBAk6MBM
-----
Hello friends! Welcome to a new Happy Learning video.
Today, we’re going to learn about The earth's atmosphere!
The layer of gas surrounding the Earth is called the atmosphere and is an essential element for life on Earth to exist!
It makes all living things be able to breathe, it protects us from rays originating from both the Sun and space, and it also prevents large changes in temperature during day and night.
The atmosphere isn’t homogenous, instead, it changes its composition according to its height, it becomes less and less dense, with less and less air.
Because of those differences, we divide the atmosphere in 5 layers called the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere and exosphere. We’re going to know more about each one of them!
The troposphere is the interior layer, the closest one to the earth’s surface. It reaches 12km in height and within it, is where the phenomenon we call the weather happens, the climate.
The stratosphere reaches an average height of 50km, although in some points it reaches 70!
Inside the stratosphere, we can find the ozone layer, which is essential fot life beacause it filters Ultraviolet Light coming from the sun. If it didn’t exist, these rays would end life on our planet.
The mesosphere is situated between 50 and 80 km over the earth’s surface. It’s the coldest layer in the atmosphere, it can reach less than 90 degrees below 0! It’s so cold!!!
The thermosphere, also called ionosphere, reaches 400 km! Within it, space shuttles travel around the earth and it’s also where the mysterious northen lights. They’re beautiful aren’t they??
The exosphere is the last layer in the atmosphere and is at a height between 400 and 2000
km! After this, no more gases exist, only the emptyness of space.
Now we know all about the atmosphere and its layers, but we can’t say goodbye without talking about pollution.
Human activity releases many gases that contaminate our atmosphere. Smoke from factories, cars, lots of the daily activities we do, are creating changes in the atmosphere’s composition. All this produces climate change, floods, acid rain that terminates woods… A polluted atmosphere puts the planet’s, and all living things’ health in danger. We need to take the necesary measures so we pollute as little as possible and take care of our planet and the atmosphere so we can carry on enjoying all of nature’s wonders.
Goodbye friends! And don’t forget to subscribe to Happy Learning, Tv.
Students learn about oil spills and their environmental and economic effects. They experience the steps of the engineering design process, starting by brainstorming potential methods for oil spill cleanup. They model small-size oil spills in plastic bins, and then design, build and re-design oil booms to prevent the spread of oil spills. Oil booms are like floating fences on the water surface to help contain and collect spilled oil. During a reflective session after cleaning up their oil booms, students come up with ideas on how to reduce oil consumption to prevent future oil spills. A PowerPoint presentation is provided.

As a class, students work through an example showing how DNA provides the "recipe" for making human body proteins. They see how the pattern of nucleotide bases (adenine, thymine, guanine, cytosine) forms the double helix ladder shape of DNA, and serves as the code for the steps required to make genes. Students extend their knowledge by conducting the associated activities to learn ways that engineers and scientists are applying their understanding of DNA in our world.

Accuracy of measurement in navigation depends very much on the situation. If a sailor's target is an island 200 km wide, sailing off center by 10 or 20 km is not a major problem. But, if the island were only 1 km wide, it would be missed if off just the smallest bit. Many of the measurements made while navigating involve angles, and a small error in the angle can translate to a much larger error in position when traveling long distances.

Difficult news is everywhere recently—climate disasters, refugee crises, and wars are among the devastating headlines. Lacking up-to-date resources and tools to respond to the rush of developments, educators have often been at a loss for how best to navigate these conversations in the classroom, especially around topics that can be charged at every angle.
The most recent event, the latest war between Israel and Hamas, will surely test educators as they try to help their students process their emotions and talk about the complex nature of this conflict. Abby R. Weiss—the chief program officer of Facing History and Ourselves, which provides instructional guidance to educators—offers suggestions for how educators can encourage healthy and helpful discussion in the classroom.
Where should teachers start? By checking in with themselves first, Weiss says. When teachers admit to what they don’t know, the moment can provide an opportunity to share a learning experience with their students.
While the student population in America's public schools becomes increasingly diverse, the nation's teaching force remains predominantly white. The divide is especially prevalent in urban districts like Chicago, where nearly 90 percent of public school students are black or Hispanic and fewer than half the teachers are. Research suggests that these differences can impact student performance as personal biases and cultural misunderstandings get in the way of learning.
The Chicago Teacher Education Pipeline at Illinois State University takes a step beyond conventional cultural competency training by immersing their teacher candidates in Chicago's highest-need communities - part of a month-long intensive fellowship called STEP-UP.
Education Week Correspondent Lisa Stark followed some of these aspiring teachers through the program. Can STEP-UP truly bridge the cultural divide?
This video aired on PBS NewsHour on August 30, 2016.

Mari Monroe is a high school teacher in San Diego who’s also a yoga instructor. When she started to incorporate elements around mindfulness from her yoga practice into the classroom, she realized just how eager students were for that type of instruction.
Here, she explains how she teaches and incorporates mindfulness through daily lessons she’s dubbed the ‘Mindful Minute,’ and offers advice for teachers looking to do the same, regardless of their comfort or familiarity with the topic.

Letra
bailan tango, twist y rock and roll,
Mambo, break dance, la salsa y la rumba
bailan todos menos Roco el hurón.
Bailan chachachá y bailan agogo
bailan tango, twist y rock and roll,
bailan tango, twist y rock and roll,
Mambo, break dance, la salsa y la rumba
bailan todos menos Roco el hurón.
Bailan chachachá y bailan agogo
bailan tango, twist y rock and roll,
Mambo, break dance, la salsa y la rumba
bailan todos menos Roco el hurón.
Baila Roco baila Roco baila Roco baila
Baila Roco baila Roco baila Roco baila
Baila Roco baila Roco baila Roco baila
Baila Roco baila Roco baila Roco baila
Baila che, baila Harlem shake,
baila polka, swing y merengue también,
Luego baila che, baila Harlem shake,
baila polka, swing y merengue también.
Y bailan chachachá y bailan agogo
bailan tango, twist y rock and roll,
Mambo, break dance, la salsa y la rumba
bailan todos junto a Roco el huron.
Bailan chachachá y bailan agogo
bailan tango, twist y rock and roll,
Mambo, break dance, la salsa y la rumba
bailan todos junto a Roco el huron,
bailan todos junto a Roco el huron.

For the next half of this series, we will be discussing Human Geography — so we’ll still be looking at the Earth, but specifically, how human activity affects and is influenced by the Earth. Naturally, we thought the best place to start was to discuss how we name things in the first place! As it turns out, a name carries so much history of a place but also represents the political power and evolving perception of that space. So today, we’re going to tell the story of the highest point in North America - a mountain known by many names including Mount McKinley and Denali.

In this video I ditch the press-release fluff and put Google’s brand-new Veo 3 through its paces, showing you exactly how to turn nothing but text prompts into crisp 8-second clips with native sound. You’ll watch me bounce between Gemini and the pro-grade Flow interface, learn my Prompt-Director Formula for nailing subject, action, context, motion, style, framing & audio, and see three crowd-pleasing demos in action. I’ll also flag the sneaky differences between Veo 3 Fast and full Veo 3 Quality, share quick wins like borrowing Midjourney stills for style reference, and spotlight.
