The sodium-potassium pump is a type of active transport that moves 3 sodium ions into the cell and 2 potassium ions out of the cell. I cover why the pump is needed and provides an overview of this type of active transport cells use to move important objects into and out of the cell.
ATP is used to change the shape of the carrier protein allowing the sodium and potassium to move across te cell membrane.
