What does financial literacy mean to young people and why should it be taught in schools?

In this episode of The Debate Circle Podcast, we head to the Mount Kenya Region for an honest conversation with students Bevni Wanjiku of Bishop Gatimu Ganduka and Stephen Gakuru of Odaya High School on money, insurance, financial literacy and the importance of learning how to manage finances from an early age.

From their first encounters with insurance to debating whether financial literacy should be part of the school curriculum, Bevni and Stephen share how the Debate Circle has challenged them to research financial topics, broaden their knowledge and think differently about money.

At its core, the conversation highlights a simple message: financial literacy is not just about knowing financial terms it is about knowing how to manage the money you have.

The Debate Circle, in partnership with the Association of Kenya Insurers (AKI), continues to create platforms that equip young people with knowledge, confidence and skills for a financially empowered future.

Watch, share and join the conversation.
