You probably know about weather, but do you know what it actually is, how it works, and why it changes depending on where you are in the world? In Weather for Kids, you will learn that there are a number of factors that affect the weather outside. It's not just about how hot or cold it is. Think about what it feels and looks apart from hot or cold, such as wet or dry, clear or cloudy, and calm or stormy. This video discusses what causes all of these effects.
You can use a thermometer to figure out how hot or cold it is outside quite easily. Should you weather a coat? Or is it time for a swim and a swimming suit would be more appropriate? Temperature is only one factor that affects the weather. Have you ever heard of humidity? The amount of water vapor in the air determines the humidity levels. Humidity refers to how wet or dry it is outside. The weather in hot desert likely has a very low humidity level, if any at all. However, in a tropical rainforest, even if it's warm as well, it may be very wet instead of dry.
Another factor is air pressure. What air pressure affects is the presence of clouds. Basically, places that experience high pressure will show clear skies. Areas with low pressure have lots of clouds. To measure air pressure, you would need a barometer. Finally, there is the factor of wind. Wind and wind speed relate to storms. If it's calm outside, it is likely that there isn't much wind. Or if there is, it's not very quick; it's a light breeze. On the other hand, storms imply a lot of fast wind. Have you ever noticed that when it's stormy, you also tend to feel the wind?
We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about these four different landforms! If you want to learn even more, head over to our website and download one of our many free lesson plans about landforms, full of activities, worksheets, and more!

In our video Thanksgiving for Kids, you will learn about the history of our very first "Thanksgiving" and how the holiday as we know it today became official.
The story of the first Thanksgiving is quite different from the holiday we celebrate today. When you hear the word Thanksgiving the first thing you may think about is turkey, or maybe the Fall or football, or perhaps you look forward to a couple of days off from school. In the 1600s, the first Thanksgiving had nothing to do with turkey, football, or school. It did take place during the Fall, and there was a feast shared by many people.
Thanksgiving is an annual celebration and a national holiday which commemorates a harvest festival celebrated by the Pilgrims in 1621. In the United States, it is held on the fourth Thursday in November. It is often remembered by religious observances
and a traditional meal, which today includes turkey. The present Thanksgiving holiday did not become official until 1863.
Before that time, three different presidents beginning with Washington tried to make it a national holiday, but it was limited to state observances and celebrations. However, many people believed that Thanksgiving should become a national holiday. Sarah Josepha Hale, an editor of a popular womenโs magazine campaigned to make it a national holiday again. Finally, in 1863 President Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving as a holiday to give thanks for โgeneral blessingsโ.
Since that time America has celebrated Thanksgiving every year with a traditional meal, often with family and friends, and giving thanks for their blessings.

In this video about animal behavior we will learn all about the different kinds of behavior including, innate behaviors, reflex behaviors, learned behaviors, imprinting and more! Birds build nests. Dogs sit roll over, chase sticks, and may do other tricks. Spiders build intricate webs. People blink, read books, talk to each other. Bees do special dances. What does each of the actions have in common? You are correct if you said they are behaviors.
A behavior is a way in which an animal or person acts in response to a situation or stimulus. Behaviors are the ways animals interact with other animals or with their environment. However, not all behaviors are attained in the same manner. For example, you had to learn how to read, but you did not learn how to blink. A dog was taught to sit up or roll over, but a dog did not learn how to dig a hole in the ground. Some behaviors animals may be learned, and other behaviors are a part of the animal at birth, and they do not need to learn them. They are born with already knowing how to
perform certain behaviors. You had to learn how to talk, read, and write. Your parents or teachers have taught you to do things, or you may have learned on your own, like playing a favorite game. Other behaviors, like blinking and grasping, are called reflexes; you were born with those behaviors.
The two types of behaviors are called innate behaviors and learned behaviors and in this video we will learn all about these different kinds of animal behaviors.
After finishing the video, we invite you to download our free 12 page lesson plan with more activities, worksheets and learning opportunities about animal behavior. It can be downloaded here: https://learnbright.org/lesson....s/science/animal-beh

What is the difference between bacteria and viruses? In Bacteria and Viruses for Kids, you will learn all about these two microorganisms. The first thing you will learn is that not all bacteria are bad. In fact, the majority of bacteria on the planet and in your body are actually good. You can find bacteria in things like yogurt, soy sauce, and pickles!
So what are bacteria? They are single-celled organisms so small that you can't see them without a microscope. They don't have a nucleus like other single-celled Common shapes include rods, spirals, and spheres. All these organisms move in different ways too. Some move like swimmers using tail-like structures called flagella. Others stay still and don't move much at all. Then there are some that slither or slide their way around.
Most bacteria are not harmful. However, there are some that can make you sick. These are called pathogens. Common pathogens include food poisoning, leprosy, and typhoid fever. To fight these pathogens, you can use antibiotics or antiseptics. You can actually find antiseptics in soaps because it's how you keep your hands clean. Good bacteria, on the other hand, are good for many reasons. They help you digest food and keep your immune system strong. They also break down dead plant and animal material to help keep soil healthy. And, they produce about half of the oxygen in the atmosphere!
What about viruses? All viruses are bad. Scientists debate whether these organisms are living or dead because they don't have an organized cell structure and can't reproduce unless they attach themselves to a living cell. The word virus comes from the Latin word for "slimy liquid." These organisms attack healthy cells. As those cells reproduce, the virus reproduces too and spreads. Many kinds can pass from person to person through hand-shaking, food contact, and through water.

Who is George Washington? What did George Washington do? Did he cut down a cherry tree? In this video we learn all about George Washington for kids. George Washington was the very first president of the United States and has a profound impact on history not only in the United States but in the whole world! In this short but fun introduction video you and your students will learn all about him and the impact he had on the world.
George Washington was the first President of the United States. He was
born February 22, 1732 in Virginia. At age 16 he had a job as a surveyor, which means he measured the size
of new land turning the information into maps. He later became a landowner in Mount Vernon, Virginia and was
elected to the Virginia legislature.
Due to problems with the British wanting to control the colonies,
Washington led the Continental Army in a victory over the British during
a war called the American Revolution.
Several years later, after the war, Washington was elected as President
in 1789 until 1797. He helped create and guide the government based
on the words of the Constitution, and he took on many roles that are still
part of the presidency today.

What do you know about the wars that the United States of America has participated in? In this video, you and your students will learn about the Korean and Vietnam Wars, the conflicts that caused the wars, and the resulting effects on the countries involved.
After World War II, Japan lost control and occupation of Korea. The country divided at the 38th parallel, with North Korea as a communist country and South Korea as a capitalist country. The two areas did not get along, even before the war. The two countries officially split, and in June of 1950, North Korea invaded South Korea and began the war.
The Korean War ended up being a fairly short war, but many lives were lost, including civilians of the country and U.S. military. The Vietnam War followed shortly after and lasted 20 years. The United States sent troops to Vietnam about 10 years after the war began after Ho Chi Minh declared war against South Vietnam and bombed two U.S. destroyers. The goal was to unite North and South Vietnam; however, the U.S. and South Vietnam were unsuccessful. It was not a popular war, and the military who served in the war were treated very poorly when they returned.
