Algebra II on Khan Academy: Your studies in algebra 1 have built a solid foundation from which you can explore linear equations, inequalities, and functions. In algebra 2 we build upon that foundation and not only extend our knowledge of algebra 1, but slowly become capable of tackling the BIG questions of the universe. We'll again touch on systems of equations, inequalities, and functions...but we'll also address exponential and logarithmic functions, logarithms, imaginary and complex numbers, conic sections, and matrices. Don't let these big words intimidate you. We're on this journey with you!

About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. This calculus video tutorial explains how to use the intermediate value theorem to find the zeros or roots of a polynomial function and how to find the value of c that satisfies the intermediate value theorem on a continuous interval. This contains plenty of examples and practice problems for you to master the concept. It shows you how to factor trinomials with leading coefficient of 1 and when it's not 1 in order to find the value of c. It also explains the IVT theorem using graphs.

Students learn how to build simple piezoelectric generators to power LEDs. To do this, they incorporate into a circuit a piezoelectric element that converts movements they make (mechanical energy) into electrical energy, which is stored in a capacitor (short-term battery). Once enough energy is stored, they flip a switch to light up an LED. Students also learn how much (surprisingly little) energy can be converted using the current state of technology for piezoelectric materials.

So Princip was to blame for World War I. Or… was it the driver Leopold Lojka who took the wrong turn? The passengers who did not tell Lojka of the new route? Perhaps, it was Ferdinand for wanting to console the injured? Or, the policemen for reacting too slow? Count Harrick who lended his uncovered limousine? Danilo ilić who gave the tools and the instructions to the assassins? Or perhaps, those who had been calling for a preventive war against Serbia for years, like the Austrio-Hungarian Emperor Franz Joseph, General Conrad von Hötzendorf, and Berchtold? The Serbian Prime Minister Pašić for not censoring newspapers celebrating the assasination? Kaiser Wilhelm II and the German government for giving their war approval to the Habsburgs? The aggressively long arms race of the European powers since the 1890s? The extraordinary industrial, demographic, cultural, political, imperial, nationalist preconditions of the previous decades? ‘Yes’.

This video is all about helping kids learn about recycling. Recycling is taking used materials and waste and then turning it into new, useful products. Recycling waste into new products reduces the amount of materials that would have been needed if the product had to be made all over again and is very beneficial for the planet!

In addition, we teach kids how to reduce, reuse, and recycle and give them real life applications so each child can start today. After completing this video and finishing the FREE Recycling lesson plan (link below) your student(s) will be able to define recycling, identify common items that are recycled, and list the three steps to successful recycling. We hope you and your children have fun learning about Recycling and keeping our planet clean.

What happens when single photons of light pass through a double slit and are detected by a photomultiplier tube? In 1801 Thomas Young seemed to settle a long-running debate about the nature of light with his double slit experiment. He demonstrated that light passing through two slits creates patterns like water waves, with the implication that it must be a wave phenomenon.

However, experimental results in the early 1900s found that light energy is not smoothly distributed as in a classical wave, rather it comes in discrete packets, called quanta and later photons. These are indivisible particles of light. So what would happen if individual photons passed through a double slit? Would they make a pattern like waves or like particles?
