Today, we're going to talk about how the Earth moves, but to do that, we're going to have to go way back to the early days of the galaxy! Processes that happened before the Earth even formed have led us to the geographic patterns and processes that create Earth's environments and support all living things. We'll talk about how the Earth rotates, the effects of it being slightly tilted, how events like sea ice melting impact how the Earth wobbles, and of course talk about how our elliptical orbit gives us seasons. So many of our life decisions are influenced by the motion of Earth. It guides where we decide to live, what food we eat, or even what weather we experience - which we'll talk about more next time.

Seemingly distant ecosystems, even half a world apart, are connected in surprising ways. In this special limited series, Emily Graslie and Trace Dominguez join me as we explore the universal rules of life that tie together Earth’s living systems. In episode 3, we look at ecosystems at their largest and smallest scales of time and size from the Serengeti to Andrews Experimental Forestin Oregon. How does the cycling of nutrients and molecules make life possible on Earth? Who are these recyclers and scavengers? Sometimes this recycling happens fast and violently, and sometimes it happens slow and beautifully.
In Our Nature is a special miniseries produced by It’s Okay To Be Smart for PBS. Stay tuned for more episodes coming this summer, here on our YouTube channel!

Recommended video: Fun facts about the human heart
https://youtu.be/bJVcgROEJAo
-----------
The Human Heart
Hello Friends, welcome to a new Happy Learning Video. Today, we’re going to get to know the engine in our body, today we’re going to get to know the human heart.
The heart is the most special muscle which we have. It’s situated a little to the left from the center of our chest, between our lungs and is in an oblique position, positioned diagonally.
We say that it’s very special because it sends blood all over our body. Blood delivers oxygen and nutrients we need to live to all of our cells.
Our heart is a type of pump, like the ones we use to inflate the wheels on our bikes, the only thing is, that instead of pumping air, it pumps blood.
The heart is divided into two parts. The right part and the left part, separated by a cellular wall, so they are not connected internally.
Each one of these parts has two chambers or cavities. The upper cavities are called right and left atrium. And the lower cavities are called right and left ventricle. The heart also has four kind of doors which are called valves. These valves open to let blood in and then they close so this blood can’t go back.
Now we’ve got to know the most important parts of the heart. But… Do you know how it works?
It all commences, in the right atrium, where the deoxygenated blood, meaning it has very little oxygen and nutrients, it enters the heart, then it goes past the first valve up to the right ventricle. Once it is here, the heart sends the blood directly to the lungs. And it’s in this moment, where the blood is oxygenated and is filled with oxygen and nutrients. When it is already oxygenated, it goes back to the heart reaching the left atrium, from where it will pass through the third valve until the last cavity, the left ventricle. Finally, the heart sends this now oxygenated blood through the fourth and last valve towards the rest of the body… and it starts again!!!
To understand how our heart beats, we only need to imagine that our hand is a heart and that when it opens up it fills up with blood, and when it’s closed it pumps that blood outwards.
When blood exits our heart, it flows through our whole body through blood vessels and there are three types: arteries, veins and capillary vessels.
Arteries deliver oxygen and nutrient rich blood to all organs in our body, veins take that blood, low in oxygen, back to the heart and the capillary vessels, which are very small, connect arteries with veins and cells.
Fun Fact! Do you know approximately how much a human heart weighs? Well it’s 450 grams, almost half a kilo.
The truth is that the heart is the engine in our circulatory system and is an incredibly strong muscle, it’s able to beat more than 100 thousand times a day. So cool!!!
We can’t say goodbye without giving you a tip! WE need to take care of our hear and that’s why we need to do physical exercise, we need to eat healthy foods, and please, never ever smoke, it’s the worst thing you can do to hurt your heart.
Goodbye Happy Friends! See you in the next Happy Learning Video!
The Perseverance Rover and helicopter Ingenuity have landed safely on Mars. A few years back I got to visit NASA JPL to interview the scientists to find out their goals for the mission. I made this clip as a correspondent for Bill Nye Saves the World on Netflix.
Touring the Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) in Pasadena was an awesome experience. I didn't think we were going to get into the control room but we got lucky. Some of the greatest moments in the history of space exploration have taken place there. They have a giant vacuum chamber where they can take the rover down to the atmospheric pressure on Mars (roughly .01x Earth's atmosphere) and test all of the devices to make sure there are no electrical discharges due to the reduced pressure. I also enjoyed seeing how the rocks will be cored and stored in tubes and deposited on the Martian surface awaiting pickup by the following mission.

Google Gemini Storybooks is a really impressive language learning technology for both teachers and students. This is truly impressive and FREE

Tired of using generic materials for your language lessons? Learn how to transform your teaching or personal study with the power of Gemini story books for language learning! In this comprehensive video, I take you through a full walkthrough of a game-changing method for creating engaging, custom language content.
I'll show you exactly how to generate a unique story in English from scratch. You'll see how you can be incredibly specific with your prompts, controlling the language level (for example, A1 or B2), the story’s context, and even the style of the images. I demonstrate a powerful technique I use myself: including the names of my students in the story to make the content deeply personal and instantly more engaging for them.
But the real magic of using Gemini for language learning comes from its ability to create follow-up educational content. Once the story is generated, you'll see how I get Gemini to produce a complete lesson plan. I show you how to generate a list of targeted comprehension questions and a curated vocabulary list with key terms and phrases, all based directly on the story we just created. This completely automates the tedious part of lesson planning.
To prove the versatility of this method, I also provide live examples in two other languages I speak, including Spanish. This shows that the process is effective for a wide range of languages. Finally, I demonstrate the ultimate flexibility of the platform by showing you how to give your instructions to Gemini using either written text or by simply speaking them, making it accessible for everyone.
If you’re a language teacher looking for innovative resources or a self-learner wanting a more personalized experience, this video is for you.

In 1958, farmers digging for bat poop in a Chinese cave stumbled on something way stranger—a fossilized skull that would baffle scientists for decades. At first, experts thought it was a Neanderthal, but new micro-CT scans have revealed a twist: it doesn’t fit neatly into Neanderthals, Homo sapiens, or even Homo erectus. Instead, Maba 1 is a mash-up of features—part this, part that, and part “what on Earth is that?” The skull’s brain size is surprisingly modern, but its structure is just too weird to belong to any known species. Some researchers now think it might represent a completely unknown human lineage that lived in Asia 300,000 years ago. Join us as we uncover the mystery of Maba 1 and what it tells us about our strange, twisted evolutionary story.

Here’s a quick Spanish lesson on making sentences in Spanish.
Someone asked me a while back to make a video on simple sentences. I hadn’t thought of how tricky that might be to some. As a learner, I always thought of Spanish as a code. Maybe this code will help you as well!
Basically it involves a subject and a verb. And we can also add some other things to the sentence. In this video we’ll talk about one of those things: indirect objects and give some examples.
Basically if you can answer what the sentence is being done TO or FOR, you have your indirect object.
If you’re confused, you might watch some of my other videos on Indirect Objects.
Please like the video and share with others who could benefit. More Spanish lessons coming.
👍Please share this video with others and like it to help me get the word out on my videos!
And let me know about other troublesome topics you’d like in bite-sized form.

A ver, ver, en este baile
El cocodrilo camina hacia adelante,

y yo en mi bicicleta,

El cocodrilo Dante
camina hacia adelante,

camina hacia adelante,
el elefante Blas
camina hacia atrás,
el pingüino Lalo
camina hacia el costado
y yo en mi bicicleta,
voy para el otro lado.
Y ahora los movimientos muy exagerados......
¡Vamos!
El cocodrilo Dante
camina hacia adelante,
el elefante Blas
camina hacia atrás,
el pingüino Lalo
camina hacia el costado
y yo en mi bicicleta,
voy para el otro lado.
¡Más rápido!
El cocodrilo Dante
camina hacia adelante,

camina hacia atrás,
el pingüino Lalo
camina hacia el costado
y yo en mi bicicleta,
voy para el otro lado.

Homeostasis is the maintenance of a constant internal state in a changing environment.
It is a desirable state of equilibrium
In order to help you understand homeostasis let’s take a look at a couple of examples.
Healthy individuals maintain a temperature around 98.6 degree Fahrenheit. If it is hot outside your body cools itself, if it is cold outside it still maintains this temperature. If it is not able to maintain this temperature bad things can happen.
