Hi kids! In this video you will learn how to easily convert cm to mm and the other way around. So if you still have math problems, in particular with concerting cm and mm in math, than this video is for you.

This was a trend on IG/TikTok, people would write out how they solved this problem. It shows that there are many ways to solve a math problem, but let me show you a faster way than stacking and adding.

This is an easy problem to teach children to group numbers to add faster.
You will start writing this out, and after practicing for a few days or weeks the child will be able to do it in their head. The top kids in the top countries for math can do this in a fraction of a second! It's always my goal to have our kids be competitive on a global scale while also having fun while learning.

Age level: any age

Prior Knowledge: The child should know common ways to make 10 ( 0+10, 1+9, 2+8, 3+7, 4+6). The child should know how to add multiples of 10 (For example 40 + 20 or 80 + 50).

93 + 97 = 190

Tell the child:
-- Is it easier to add 17 + 24 or 10 + 20? Why?
-- That's right, it's easy to add numbers that end with 0!
-- So we're always going to try to group numbers that make a 10.
-- Do you see any ways to make 10 in our problem?
-- 7 + 3 = 10
-- So now, let's rewrite our problem to make it easier to solve
-- I'm writing 90 + 90 + 10 [Write]
-- We took out the 7 and 3, and made a ten. [Point to the numbers as you say this]
-- Now, do you see any ways to make 100? [You may remind students that 100 is also "a ten"]
- That's right! We can add the 90 + 10 first, because we know that equals 100.
[Note: It's ok if the child wants to add 90 + 90 first! Whatever method is fastest for them]
- Now let's rewrite our problem again to make it easier to solve
- I'm writing 90 + 100
- Wow, it's so easy to add a number to 100! What's the answer?
- 190

Here are some other problems that you can practice with. Remember, it will be slow at first, and it's okay to use physical models.

Solving word problems is a critical math skill. When students figure out a word problem, they use critical thinking skills, access descriptive language and prove they can solve a math problem presented in a text rather than a mathematical equation.

In this video, the Kids Academy teacher carefully explains the steps to use when working with word problems for kids. Students learn to first read, the word problem, then go back and reread the problem and underline or highlight important information that is used to solve the problem. Also, the teacher shows the students how to look for keywords or phrases such as “total” and “are left” that indicate what operation they will do to solve the problem. The video then draws out the problem with tally marks and uses the counting on or counting back method to complete the operation.

Using this video in your math classroom helps clear up any confusion students have when solving word problems. Clear instruction and demonstration from the video teacher make this a valuable resource for teaching math.

That's the question teacher and Synergy Academies Founder Dr. Randy Palisoc asks the TEDxManhattanBeach audience. With only 26% of U.S. twelfth graders proficient in mathematics, Randy shares his solution: teach math as a language. Putting words back into math lessons enables even the youngest school-age minds to grasp complex concepts, such as fractions, that are traditionally thought of as abstract and difficult to understand. In his stunningly simple and effective approach, math no longer creates problems for kids but solves them.

Randy Palisoc is a passionate educator, known for making math easy. A founder of the five-time national award winning Synergy Academies, Randy is proud to identify Synergy as an “in spite of” school. In spite of the fact that its students were disadvantaged and in spite of the fact that it did not have its own facility and had to pack up its classrooms every single week, his school was the first and only elementary school in South Los Angeles to ever win the National Blue Ribbon Award, and was named the #1 Urban Elementary School in America in 2013.

Seeking a broader impact, Randy left Synergy this year to start Ironbox Education. One of the ways he believes we can dramatically improve America’s schools is by doing a better job teaching math to our students in a way that makes sense to them. Randy believes implementing a few changes in the way we approach math will give students the confidence and thinking skills to be more competitive in a global economy.

Number Pi is a mathematical constant which indicates the relation between the perimeter and the diameter of a circumference. It's about fitting the diameter as many times as possible into the perimeter of the circumference. We say that it's a constant because number Pi (π) is the same for every circumference in the world, in other words, this number is always equal to 3.14. In this video, the little ones will look at several examples that show Pi is a mathematical constant, through easy and fun calculations.
