A few weeks ago, I decided to make a new batch of background incidental toons for the city that my series takes place in, since I had a lot of time on my hands and felt like going on another toon designing spree, but I wanted to choose a theme for the new batch, and since I already made toons based on the BASIC elements (the main cartoonist’s toons, Earth, Air, Water, and Fire, who I also included in the corner of the table as a little bonus) back in December 2016, I decided to give CHEMICAL element toons a try, especially since Tom Lehrer’s song about the chemical elements has been stuck in my head ever since I was in 10th grade, it’s such a good song. It was fun working on all of these designs, but also super tiring because of all the designs I had to do and all the research that I had to do, but it was worth it. Honestly, before I started working on these designs, I had no idea what 90% of these elements were lol.

Hank begins teaching you about your endocrine system by explaining how it uses glands to produce hormones. These hormones are either amino-acid based and water soluble, or steroidal and lipid-soluble, and may target many types of cells or just turn on specific ones. He will also touch on hormone cascades, and how the HPA axis affects your stress response.

👉 Learn how to solve two step linear equations. A linear equation is an equation whose highest exponent on its variable(s) is 1. To solve for a variable in a two step linear equation, we first isolate the variable by using inverse operations (addition or subtraction) to move like terms to different sides of the equality sign. After evaluating like terms we then also use inverse operations (multiplication or division) to remove any multiple (or fraction) to the variable.

What is the difference between "extinct" and "endangered"? Animals and other living things that no longer exist are extinct, and those that are in danger of becoming extinct are endangered. In this video, you and your kids will learn about some of the things that cause living organisms to die out. You will also learn how to help protect endangered species!
You probably already know about dinosaurs and that there are no more on the earth today. That is because they are extinct. They're not the only ones, though. Animals like woolly mammoths and dodo birds used to exist. However, due to certain natural causes and to human interaction, they no longer do. There are several reasons a species might die out. For the dinosaurs, scientists believe an asteroid collided with earth and caused a mass extinction.
On the other hand, woolly mammoths lost their habitats, and the climate changed drastically enough that they couldn't adapt to their new surroundings. Similarly, the dodo bird became extinct because of overhunting and the destruction of its habitat. Not all animals that go extinct existed thousands or millions of years ago. The passenger pigeon died out much more recently, and for the same reasons as the dodo.
What about endangered animals? For the most part, human causes are the reason most animals and other species are in danger of dying out. Animals you may be familiar with that are on the endangered species list include black rhinos, orangutans, Bengal tigers, blue whales, and sea lions. The video explains several causes, many of which are the same as those you already learned about.
While you can't do anything about extinct species, there are a few ways to help protect endangered animals and plants. You can recycle, save energy, and plant a garden. These will all help improve the environment. In addition, you can even sponsor an endangered animal!
We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about animals that are extinct or endangered! If you want to learn even more, head over to our website and download one of our many free lesson plans, full of activities, worksheets, and more!

In which John Green teaches you about some of the colonies that were not in Virginia or Massachusetts. Old New York was once New Amsterdam. Why they changed it, I can say; ENGLISH people just liked it better that way, and when the English took New Amsterdam in 1643, that's just what they did. Before the English got there though, the colony was full of Dutch people who treated women pretty fairly and allowed free Black people to hold jobs. John also discusses Penn's Woods, also known as Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania was (briefly) a haven of religious freedom, and William Penn dealt relatively fairly with the natives his colony displaced. Of course, as soon as Penn died, the colonist started abusing the natives immediately. We venture as far south as the Carolina colonies, where the slave labor economy was taking shape. John also takes on the idea of the classless society in America, and the beginning of the idea of the American dream. It turns out that in spite of the lofty dream that everyone had an equal shot in the new world, there were elites in the colonies. And these elites tended to be in charge. And then their kids tended to take over when they died. So yeah, not quite an egalitarian paradise. In addition to all this, we get into the Salem Witch Trials, the treatment of women in the colonies, and colonial economics. Oh yeah, one more thing, before you comment about how he says we're talking about the American Revolution next week, but the end screen says Seven Years War, consider that perhaps the Seven Years War laid the groundwork for the revolution to happen.
