This chemistry video tutorial explains how the photoelectric effect works. It also explains how to use the work function of metals to calculate the threshold frequency and maximum wavelength of light necessary to eject an electron off the surface of an active metal. In addition, it explains how to calculate the speed of an electron as well as the kinetic energy of an electron in electron volts. You need to know how to convert electron volts to joules and vice versa. This video provides all of the formulas and equations needed including plenty of practice problems and examples.

Where did English come from? - Claire Bowern

When we talk about ‘English’, we often think of it as a single language. But what do the dialects spoken in dozens of countries around the world have in common with each other, or with the writings of Chaucer? Claire Bowern traces the language from the present day back to its ancient roots, showing how English has evolved through generations of speakers.

The Sound! The Fury! Today, we're talking about Shakespeare's Scottish play, Macbeth. So, was Macbeth really predestined to do all the murdering and bad kinging and other terrible stuff? That's the big question in Macbeth, and it's one of the ideas we're going to talk about today, among many. Also, Yoda joins us for the open letter.

The mistake a lot of parents and teachers make when addressing AI with their kids and students is Teacherflix 16 Views • 2 months ago

The mistake a lot of parents and teachers make when addressing AI with their kids and students is leading with a moral argument. They say plagiarism is bad and lying is bad. That is not the point.

*note* as all teachers should, take into consideration any IEP or 504 needs when presenting a lesson

The reason we do not use AI when we are learning is because we have to protect our brains at all costs. Your brain is your most valuable asset as an adult. It is how you land better opportunities, how you build real friendships and communities, how you problem solve, and how you make smart decisions that keep you out of trouble.

Yes, you can buy most of these things with gobs of money. But most of us do not have gobs of money. I tell my kids to imagine the life they want to have as an adult, and then I tell them their brain is their best chance at achieving that.

AI is a tool that can be used, but it has to be used in the right way. As adults we use Google as a tool all the time, and even kids use it to check what movies are out or to answer a curiosity. That is very different than using Google to complete the assignments that are supposed to grow our brain. It is the same with AI.

I think it is important to acknowledge in front of the class that it is not fair for me to tell them that effort alone is going to win them the world. Life is not fair. Some kids face learning difficulties or a hard home life. That is when I will make a commitment to support them to the best of my abilities. I am ready to come alongside them with one hundred percent of my effort to help them learn how they learn and to support them while at school. In return, I need them to tell me when they need help and to give me their best effort too.

And even with this speech to my kids or to my students, I would not just step back and expect them to make all the right decisions. They are still functioning with kid brains, and they will probably be tempted to use AI because they cannot fully understand the long-term implications yet. That is why it is my job as the adult to put very clear boundaries in place, and to set up systems where they cannot access it during learning times so they are forced to use their own brain.

I Learned Portuguese 100% from AI Teacher, Brazilians Stunned
I Learned Portuguese 100% from AI Teacher, Brazilians Stunned Teacherflix 21 Views • 2 months ago

Go to https://yourteacher.ai/xiaoma to learn a language with an AI clone of me! I recently became the first person ever, as far as I can tell, to learn to speak a language from scratch solely by practicing with AI, and then I went and tested myself with total strangers to see how much I actually learned. The backstory here is that my team and I have developed an artificial intelligence language teacher capable of teaching you a language just like a human would through real bilingual speech to speech conversation practice, which any serious language learner will tell you is far and away the single most effective way to learn. It’s called Teacher AI, and I decided to test it out to see if it could actually teach me enough of a language for me to be able to conduct my daily activities like getting coffee and ordering pizza all in my target language with native human speakers. I picked Portuguese as my target language for a bit of a challenge because I have never studied it before, and for this challenge I did not study from any sources other than Teacher AI – no textbooks, no grammar resources, no courses, & no human teachers. So I essentially needed to learn 100% of everything I needed to know exclusively from AI.

Émile Durkheim on Suicide & Society: Crash Course Sociology #5 Teacherflix 39 Views • 7 months ago

Now that we’ve talked a little bit about how sociology works, it’s time to start exploring some of the ideas of the discipline’s founders. First up: Émile Durkheim. We’ll explain the concept of social facts and how Durkheim framed sociology as a science. We’ll introduce the idea of common consciousness and how Durkheim believed it binds society together. We’ll also talk about Durkheim’s studies on suicide and how he applied his concepts to a specific social problem.
