This chemistry video tutorial explains how the photoelectric effect works. It also explains how to use the work function of metals to calculate the threshold frequency and maximum wavelength of light necessary to eject an electron off the surface of an active metal. In addition, it explains how to calculate the speed of an electron as well as the kinetic energy of an electron in electron volts. You need to know how to convert electron volts to joules and vice versa. This video provides all of the formulas and equations needed including plenty of practice problems and examples.

Students use simple household materials, such as PVC piping and compact mirrors, to construct models of laser-based security systems. The protected object (a "mummified troll" or another treasure of your choosing) is placed "on display" in the center of the modeled room and protected by a laser system that utilizes a laser beam reflected off mirrors to trigger a light trip sensor with alarm.

When we talk about ‘English’, we often think of it as a single language. But what do the dialects spoken in dozens of countries around the world have in common with each other, or with the writings of Chaucer? Claire Bowern traces the language from the present day back to its ancient roots, showing how English has evolved through generations of speakers.
Lesson by Claire Bowern, animation by Patrick Smith.

The Sound! The Fury! Today, we're talking about Shakespeare's Scottish play, Macbeth. So, was Macbeth really predestined to do all the murdering and bad kinging and other terrible stuff? That's the big question in Macbeth, and it's one of the ideas we're going to talk about today, among many. Also, Yoda joins us for the open letter.

Go to https://yourteacher.ai/xiaoma to learn a language with an AI clone of me! I recently became the first person ever, as far as I can tell, to learn to speak a language from scratch solely by practicing with AI, and then I went and tested myself with total strangers to see how much I actually learned. The backstory here is that my team and I have developed an artificial intelligence language teacher capable of teaching you a language just like a human would through real bilingual speech to speech conversation practice, which any serious language learner will tell you is far and away the single most effective way to learn. It’s called Teacher AI, and I decided to test it out to see if it could actually teach me enough of a language for me to be able to conduct my daily activities like getting coffee and ordering pizza all in my target language with native human speakers. I picked Portuguese as my target language for a bit of a challenge because I have never studied it before, and for this challenge I did not study from any sources other than Teacher AI – no textbooks, no grammar resources, no courses, & no human teachers. So I essentially needed to learn 100% of everything I needed to know exclusively from AI.

This organic chemistry video tutorial provides a basic introduction into spin spin splitting / coupling as it relates to proton NMR spectroscopy. It explains how to use the N+1 rule to determine the multiplicity of a H NMR signal. It also discusses the intensity ratio of singlets, doublets, triplets, quartets, quintets, sextets, and septets using pascal's triangle. It also provides an intro into complex splitting by using a triplet of quartets and a quartet of triplets signal as an example which can be simply referred to as a multiplet.

Now that we’ve talked a little bit about how sociology works, it’s time to start exploring some of the ideas of the discipline’s founders. First up: Émile Durkheim. We’ll explain the concept of social facts and how Durkheim framed sociology as a science. We’ll introduce the idea of common consciousness and how Durkheim believed it binds society together. We’ll also talk about Durkheim’s studies on suicide and how he applied his concepts to a specific social problem.
