Paris Kent, the dance director at Bellaire High School in Houston, has sent her students into physics classes to help students learn about the rotation of an axis through the movement of their bodies, demonstrating how a person’s size impacts the speed of the rotation. It’s just one way Kent works to incorporate dance across the curriculum.

But the methods for utilizing movement are just as plentiful as the reasons for doing so—from giving students an opportunity to share elements of their culture, creating connections between students and their teachers, and increasing student engagement.

Here, Kent shares how teachers can incorporate dance and movement into their classrooms in small, time-effective ways.

In an activity that integrates science and art, students see, experience and harness the phenomenon of surface tension as they create beautiful works of art. Students conduct two experiments related to surface tension—floating objects on the surface of water and creating original artwork using floating inks. They also learn historical and cultural information through an introduction to the ancient Japanese art form of suminagashi. They take the topic a step further by discussing how an understanding of surface tension can be applied to solve real-world engineering problems and create useful inventions.

Students act as structural engineers and learn about forces and load distributions as they follow the steps of the engineering design process to design and build small-scale bridges using wooden tongue depressors and glue. Teams brainstorm ideas that meet the size and material design constraints and create prototype bridges of the most promising solutions. They test their bridges to see how much weight they can hold until they break and then determine which have the highest strength-to-weight ratios. They examine the prototype failures to identify future improvements. This activity is part of a unit in which multiple activities are brought together for an all-day school/multi-school concluding “engineering field day” competition.

Students drop water from different heights to demonstrate the conversion of water's potential energy to kinetic energy. They see how varying the height from which water is dropped affects the splash size. They follow good experiment protocol, take measurements, calculate averages and graph results. In seeing how falling water can be used to do work, they also learn how this energy transformation figures into the engineering design and construction of hydroelectric power plants, dams and reservoirs.

------------
Hello Happy friends!
Are you ready to learn?

I’m Sarah, and today, we’re going to solve a very curious mathematical riddle.
But don’t think it’s going to be about adding, subtracting, multiplying or dividing.
No, no, maths isn’t just that!
We also use maths to develop our creativity, and solve problems that we come across every day.

I’m going to show you a little riddle called the ants crossing crossing a bridge, and we’re going to see how to solve it!

It’s nighttime, and four ants are being followed by a hungry anteater.
Suddenly, they come up to an old narrow bridge!
One of them, has a light on its head so they’re able to see, and she realises, that the bridge is so old, only two ants can cross at a time, so they will only be able to cross individually, or in pairs.
And they always need the light, because otherwise, they can’t see!

The anteater will take 17 minutes to get to where the ants are, to eat them all! What can our ant friends do to save themselves?

Let’s see, you’re the slowest, and you’re going to take 10 minutes to cross the bridge.
You’re going to take 5, you’ll take 2, and because I’m the fastest, I will take 1 minute.
And we only have one light!
And the anteater is going to take 17 minutes to get here, what shall we do?

These little ants need our help, let’s get our thinking caps on!
But if you need a little more time, pause the video.

Have you figured it out?
Let’s take a look!

If two ants go together, they will take the same time as the slowest ant.
So the best idea is that and 1 and 2 go together.
They’ve spent 2 minutes crossing.

Now, ant 1 will cross back with the light, and she will take another minute.
That means, in total they’ve taken 3 minutes.
Who should cross the bridge now?

Ant 1, will give the lamp to ant 5, and this one crosses the bridge with ant 10.
If we add these 10 minutes, to the 3 we had before, we’ve taken 13 minutes.

Now, the ant that goes back with the lamp is ant number 2, who takes 2 minutes.
So they’ve taken a total of 15 minutes, and the anteater is about to arrive!

So, the ants we’ve got left are the ones that take 1 and 2 minutes.
How long will they take?

Of course! it’s two minutes!
And if we add them to the 15 minutes we had before, we’ve reached a total of 17 minutes!

Yes! we’ve saved our little ants! And it’s all thanks to our maths!

The truth is, maths are so much fun, and so helpful!

Goodbye happy friends! See you next time!

I hope you’re always ready to learn!

Goodbye!

AI Teaches Itself How to Escape!

In this video an AI Warehouse agent named Albert learns how to escape 5 rooms I've designed. The AI was trained using Deep Reinforcement Learning, a method of Machine Learning which involves rewarding the agent for doing something correctly, and punishing it for doing anything incorrectly. Albert's actions are controlled by a Neural Network that's updated after each attempt in order to try to give Albert more rewards and less punishments over time.

Everything in this video (except for the music) was created entirely by myself using Unity. Check the pinned comment for more information on how the AI was trained!

What if universities don’t “disappear”… but lose their monopoly on learning, credentials, and opportunity?

AI is turning education into something radically different: personal, instant, adaptive, and always available. When every student can have a 24/7 tutor, a writing coach, a coding partner, and a study plan designed specifically for them, the old model—one professor, one curriculum, one pace for everyone—starts to look outdated. And the biggest disruption isn’t the classroom. It’s the credential. Because in an AI world, proof of skill can become more valuable than a piece of paper.

This video explores the end of universities as we know them: what AI is bringing, what will break, what will survive, and what replaces the traditional path.

In this video you’ll discover:
✔️ Why AI tutoring could outperform one-size-fits-all lectures
✔️ How “degrees” may shift into skill proof: portfolios, projects, and verified competency
✔️ What happens when the “middle” of studying becomes automated
✔️ How universities may evolve: research hubs, networks, high-trust credentialing
✔️ The dark side: cheating, dependency, inequality, and biased evaluation
✔️ The new advantage: judgment, creativity, and responsibility in a world of instant answers

💬 Comment below: Do you think degrees will matter less by 2030—or will universities adapt and stay dominant? And tell us what country or city you’re watching from.

What do you know about the country of China? In All about China for Kids, you will learn a lot of cool facts about this incredible country. For instance, it is the most populated country in the whole world at 1.4 BILLION people! That is four times as many people as live in the USA. In addition, the official name of the country is the People's Republic of China. It is also the fourth largest country and borders a lot of other countries.

Because of China's big size, it boasts lots of different landscapes, like deserts, forests, mountains, and plateaus. In fact, a whole third of the country is covered in mountains. There are thousands of rivers, including the Yangtze and Yellow Rivers, throughout the country. And there is also a lot of wildlife all over the various regions, such as the Giant Panda, which is actually an endangered species. There are only around 2,000 pandas alive today!

China is home to one of the world's oldest civilizations. The history of China splits into periods of time called dynasties, the first one being the Xia Dynasty (pronounced like shaw) over 4000 years ago. And during the Qin Dynasty, the Great Wall of China was built, and the people developed advanced technology in mathematics and infrastructure. The last emperor was overthrown in 1912, and the country became a republic. But then in 1949, the current communist government overthrew the republic following a civil war.

There are so many cool attractions and landmarks to visit in China. Besides the Great Wall of China, there is the site of the terracotta army, a series of statues that represent Chinese warriors. They were buried under ground for more than 2,000 years! The Forbidden City is another great attraction, a place that was home to 24 of China's emperors. It was built around 1420 AD. Can you guess why it's called the forbidden city?

We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about the amazing country of China! If you want even more information, head over to our website and download one of our many free lesson plans, full of activities, worksheets, and more!
