How to use a Makey Makey with a simple program in Scratch. Set up a simple circuit that uses a banana and aluminum foil in place of keyboard keys.
MaKey MaKey
Makey Makey is the heart of thousands of fun electronics projects at home or in the classroom. In this project, Sam builds a pencil piano with a Makey Makey! While we've drawn a piano, you could use any picture with a similar outcome!
Step 1 - Draw your keys or pads on your paper making sure that all of you pencil strokes are touching (continuous). Make sure that each key drawing is separate and not touching each other.
Step 2 - Connect your alligator clips up to each key or pad that you’ve drawn. You can connect/draw as many or as few as you like. Then connect this alligator clips to the input pads on your Makey Makey
Step 3 - Connect a ground alligator clip to the Makey Makey, and hold the other end while you play your own unique instrument!

I’m going to show you one of the most enduring electronic prototyping boards of the past 10 years. It’s not an Arduino or a Raspberry Pi. It’s this – the Makey Makey.
And it doesn’t get the respect it deserves. It’s a no-code solution targeted toward students, but you’ll see it pop up everywhere. Most recently, I found it being used in half a dozen of the custom made arcade games of Alt.CTRL GDC.
What it does is translate a broad range of input into computer keystrokes. Yes, you can use tinfoil or bananas to control a computer game, but also if you’re prototyping something like a kiosk, it’s also a super quick way to wire up simple button controls to a Raspberry Pi.
You can find the Makey Makey starter kit on Digi-Key, and you can find more maker tips like these on Maker Update, each week on the Digi-Key YouTube channel.

I hacked the wonderful children's book "Brown Bear, Brown Bear". I used conductive tape and wires from old telephone wire. I found the audio clips online and imported them into Scratch where I assigned the sounds to the number keys by using the "remap Makey Makey" function https://makeymakey.com/blogs/h....ow-to-instructions/r I originally envisioned using the book to share facts about how environment change (global warming) impacts various animal species. This project could also be used to create a multimedia book that reads to you and has sound effects. See the Scratch program here: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/351428088
