Title: Comparing Unit Fractions On A Number Line - Fast And Easy Math Learning Videos

In this lesson you’ll learn how to compare unit fractions.
A unit fraction is any fraction that has 1 as the numerator. For example, one-half, one-fourth, or one-seventh.
To compare unit fractions let’s start by using a number line.
You already know that when we divide one whole into halves we get two equal parts.
When we divide one whole into thirds we get three equal parts.
When we divide one whole into fourths we get four equal parts.
And so on. So you can see that when we split the whole into more parts,
each part gets smaller
So a unit fraction with a larger denominator is a smaller number, and a unit fraction with a smaller denominator is a larger number.
Let’s look at an example: one-fourth and one- sixth.
Let’s look at these on the number line.
We can see that one-fourth is larger than one-sixth because it’s farther to the right on the number line.
One-fourth has a smaller denominator so it’s a larger number than one-sixth.
Let’s look at another example: one-twelfth and one-half. The number with the larger denominator is the smaller number.
So one-twelfth is less the one-half. In the remainder of this lesson you’ll get practice comparing unit fractions.

An organ is a group of two or more tissue that works together to complete a common function.
Your body has around 78 organs.
In this video, I will cover several major organs.

The brain is the boss of your body. It runs the show and controls just about everything you do, even when you're asleep

The heart is a very strong muscle made of cardiac muscle that helps pump your blood throughout your body.

The kidneys are very important because they filter your blood and produce urine.

The spleen filters blood and acts like disease detectives. It also produces antibodies and lymphocytes which fight germs.

The Small and Large intestines are a major site of digestion. The small intestine is responsible for 90 percent of digestion. At the same time, the large intestines absorb salts, mineral, and vitamins.

The Liver Is a large organ with over 200 functions. It produces bile which helps with digestion, stores glycogen, and filters your blood to eliminate harmful bacteria and damaged cells.

The gallbladder stores the bile produced by the liver

Your stomach Is a site of digestion of the food we eat. After chewing our food it travels down the esophagus to the stomach.

The pancreas helps to regulate the blood sugar level of your body.

The skin protects us from disease, removes waste, and helps control our temperature.

Finally, the Lungs are responsible for exchanging oxygen for carbon dioxide

The standard theory of quantum mechanics leaves a bit to be desired. As Richard Feynman put it, "I think I can safely say that no one understands quantum mechanics." This is because observations of experiments have led us to a theory that contradicts common sense. The wave function contains all the information that is knowable about a particle, yet it can only be used to calculate probabilities of where a particle will likely turn up. It can't give us an actual account of where the particle went or where it will be at some later time.

Some have suggested that this theory is incomplete. Maybe something is going on beneath the radar of standard quantum theory and somehow producing the appearance of randomness and uncertainty without actually being random or uncertain. Theories of this sort are called hidden variable theories because they propose entities that aren't observable. One such theory is pilot wave theory, first proposed by de Broglie, but later developed by Bohm. The idea here is that a particle oscillates, creating a wave. It then interacts with the wave and this complex interaction determines its motion.

Experiments using silicone oil droplets on a vibrating bath provide a remarkable physical realization of pilot wave theories. They give us a physical picture of what the quantum world might look like if this is what's going on - and this theory is still deterministic. The particle is never in two places at once and there is no randomness.

UV at ground level is non-ionizing but it damages DNA and causes photoaging - how?
Also, it turns out glass doesn't block all UV (specifically UVA passes through). This is something I learned filming with the UV camera inside.

Special thanks to Dr. Hayley Golbach, @hayleysgold on twitter
https://twitter.com/hayleysgold

Ultraviolet light causes damage to DNA, leads to cancer and photoaging: age spots and wrinkles. I was curious about this because UV is technically non-ionizing. A photon of UV doesn't have enough energy to strip an electron off atoms or molecules. However it does have enough energy to trigger photo-chemical reactions. For example, it causes pyrimidine dimers - the unauthorized covalent bonding of adjacent thymine or cytosine bases in our DNA. If these spots are not properly repaired, they may lead to mutations and cancer. Photoaging is typically the result of degradation of collagen and elastin fibers - scaffolding that supports the skin. This leads to wrinkles and saggy-looking skin.

Vertical Angles Explained
Vertical angles in Geometry occur when two lines cross one another. The lines share a common vertex and are opposite each other.
Vertical angles are congruent which means the angle measure is equal. In addition two pairs of vertical angles are created when the lines cross.

Aerogel has extraordinary properties but it can be tough to work with. This video looks at modifying aerogels to take advantage of their unique characteristics.
Subscribe to Veritasium: https://ve42.co/sub

Huge thanks to Dr. Stephen Steiner and the crew at Aerogel Technologies. To find out more or buy your own aerogel sample, check out: http://www.aerogeltechnologies.com/

Thanks to Dr. Steven Jones and Dr. Mihail Petkov at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory

And thanks to FLIR for loaning us the awesome high definition thermal camera. The footage is amazing! https://www.flir.com

Aerogel’s extraordinary properties are due in large part to its structure. Aerogel is a solid but on the nanoscale it has a mesh or sponge-like structure. The struts of this structure are nanoscale, as are the pores at around 20nm across. This makes silica aerogel incredibly light (it was once the lightest solid but has now been superseded by graphene aerogel), transparent and adsorbent.

An ice-cube sized piece of aerogel has an internal surface area roughly equal to half a football field. Aerogel is used in high end museum cases to regulate humidity. Plus it helps maintain the vacuum on the Mars Insight seismometers - it adsorbs moisture and other outgassed volatiles that come from the spacecraft itself. Proposed uses include as a physical insecticide by ‘drying out insects’ reducing the need for chemical and toxic pesticides.

Tundra biome facts. In this video, enjoy pictures and video clips of this cold biome. The tundra can be divided into two types. The arctic tundra and the alpine tundra. The arctic tundra is found in the north near the poles and is very cold and treeless. The alpine tundra is found at the top of mountains and has a similar climate as the arctic tundra.
In North America, you will find the arctic tundra in Alaska and some cities would include Barrow Alaska, Aklavik, Fort McPherson, Inuvik, Iqaluit, Old Crow, Qausuittuq and Tuktoyaktuk. These cities are all on the northernmost frontier, in the Northwest Territories, the Nunavut provinces and the Yukon Territory. Each of these cities has very long winters and short summers.
The alpine tundra can be found in the rocky mountains, Alps, and Pyrenees mountains

The Earth is a gigantic ball of semi-molten rock, with a heart of iron as hot as the surface of the Sun. Titanic amounts of heat left over from its birth and the radioactive decay of trillions of tons of radioactive elements find no escape but up. Currents of rock spanning thousands of kilometers carry this energy to the surface. Earth’s crust is the only thing in their way. It feels solid to us, but it is only a fragile barrier, an apple skin around a flaming behemoth. True apocalypses can break through and unleash eruptions tens of times more powerful than all of our nuclear weapons combined, subjecting the climate to centuries worth of change in a single year, while drowning continents in toxic ash and gases: supervolcanoes. How big can they get? And will they put an end to humanity?

Ready to learn about division? In math, division is separating numbers into equal groups. You probably use division in your daily life without realizing it. There are different ways to write the problems, but don't let that throw you off! Just figure out how many objects belong in each group. If you know your multiplication facts, you can use that to help you figure out the answers to related division problems.
