I watched the CodeBullet Snake AI video on the morning after Thanksgiving and spent WAAAAYY too much time working on an AI of my own. I present to you: Snake, as played algorithmically with Dynamic Hamiltonian Cycle Repair. The snake can never die - like really, actually, literally, can't be killed - it's just a matter of how fast it wins the game…

If you, like me, enjoy watching snakes run around eating apples for hours on end, enjoy this follow-up where I took the median-length game from my best performing algorithm and posted the whole darn thing on YouTube:

Algebra I on Khan Academy: Algebra is the language through which we describe patterns. Think of it as a shorthand, of sorts. As opposed to having to do something over and over again, algebra gives you a simple way to express that repetitive process. It's also seen as a "gatekeeper" subject. Once you achieve an understanding of algebra, the higher-level math subjects become accessible to you. Without it, it's impossible to move forward. It's used by people with lots of different jobs, like carpentry, engineering, and fashion design. In these tutorials, we'll cover a lot of ground. Some of the topics include linear equations, linear inequalities, linear functions, systems of equations, factoring expressions, quadratic expressions, exponents, functions, and ratios.

About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.

For free. For everyone. Forever. #YouCanLearnAnything

In this video, we’re diving into 15 optical illusions that will totally mess with your mind — the kind that make you question everything you see. From spinning rooms that stay still to pictures that move when they shouldn’t, each illusion reveals just how easily our brains can be fooled. Get ready to test your perception, challenge your logic, and maybe even freak yourself out a little. Watch till the end — one of these illusions has even tricked scientists!

The Sepoy Uprising, which took place in India in 1857 - 58, is seen as one of the most shocking insurrections to take place against a colonial power during the 19th century. Although the uprising was ultimately unsuccessful, it fundamentally changed the nature of British rule in the subcontinent and is sometimes known, in India, as the First War of Independence.

Today we're going to tell the story of a quiet revolution in the 1960s that shifted our entire understanding of how the Earth works. We currently believe that the Earth's broken outer shell rises from the mantle and folds back in - kind of like a dance of creative destruction and reconstruction - giving us our continents and oceans, mountains and valleys, volcanoes, and earthquakes. And it would take a group of scientists all over the world to get us this grand unifying theory of plate tectonics.

This calculus video tutorial explains how to evaluate the limit of rational functions and fractions with square roots and radicals. It provides a basic review of what you need to do to find the limit. Whenever you a complex fraction, you should multiply it by the common denominator. If you have radicals and square roots, you should multiply by the conjugate. This video contains plenty of examples and practice problems for you to work on.

I took a trip to one of Austin's famous moontowers so I could put the enormity of our solar system into perspective. With the help of a grapefruit, and a lot of walking, you'll get an idea of just how tiny everything is out there!!

Do it yourself! Calculate sizes and distances, and then make your own solar system model using this calculator: http://dft.ba/-solarsystem

Learn Sides and Shapes | Math for Kids | Geometry | Kids Academy

A shape is defined as the form or the outline of an object. It can also be defined as the boundary of an object and the kind of pattern it follows. It is a basic property of every object just like its other properties like color, texture, size etc.

Different objects follow different patterns of these boundaries. These patterns have been given different names. Shapes for kids is a very important lesson, so we have made this educational video for kids.

For example, a pattern which has four equal sides is referred to as a square. A pattern with round is referred to a circle. Similarly, there are other shapes like a rectangle, triangle, cone etc. Each object is categized based on its shape. These shapes have been made for the understanding of man and to make a sense out of things. Every object in this universe has a shape just like earth is a sphere and a ball is a circle.

In our final episode of Crash Course Philosophy, we consider what it means to live a good life. We’ll look at the myth of Sisyphus, Robert Nozick’s experience machine, Aristotle’s eudaimonistic picture of a good human life, and the existentialists’ view that we each determine the value of our own lives. And we’ll think about how you, too, can live the life of a philosopher.
