*In the chart, the él/ella/usted form shouldn't have an accent mark on the "io" form since ver = vio and dar = dio.
(although in archaic Spanish, they did have accent marks!)

This is one of my most popular videos of all time! And I recently stumbled across the raw video, which I recorded in High Definition but didn't have a computer able to handle the editing of it as HD video at the time!

And I thought I would fix the sound and make it come through both speakers as well as polish the graphics a little bit!

So enjoy the video that you've probably already seen IN HD!

I didn't write it. It's pretty awesome though.

Rate this video if it was helpful!

What is the difference between something that is alive and something that is not? You and your kids will learn all about the characteristics of both living and non-living things. Both have special characteristics that differentiate the two groups. Living things grow, eat, and reproduce. They can also breathe, have senses, and move. However, some non-living things can move, too. Think about fire or water. They aren't alive, but they definitely move!

Things that are alive grow, such as chicks that become hens or sprouts that become plants. They also have to eat, or take in nutrients, to survive. Different species need different nutrients, but they all require nutrients to live and grow. And both plants and animals reproduce to create more of their own kind. Non-living things can't do any of these things.

In addition, things that are not alive also do not breathe or have senses. For instance, a teddy bear cannot feel you touch it. A waterfall cannot see anything. However, some of these objects do move. As mentioned, fire and water aren't alive, but they move all on their own. Other things, like cars, can move as well, but not on their own. These objects require people to make them move. In addition, non-living things can be solids, liquids, or gases.

We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about what determines if something is alive! If you want even more information, head over to our website and download one of our many free lesson plans, full of activities, worksheets, and more!

Algebra II on Khan Academy: Your studies in algebra 1 have built a solid foundation from which you can explore linear equations, inequalities, and functions. In algebra 2 we build upon that foundation and not only extend our knowledge of algebra 1, but slowly become capable of tackling the BIG questions of the universe. We'll again touch on systems of equations, inequalities, and functions...but we'll also address exponential and logarithmic functions, logarithms, imaginary and complex numbers, conic sections, and matrices. Don't let these big words intimidate you. We're on this journey with you!

About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. Algebra I on Khan Academy: Algebra is the language through which we describe patterns. Think of it as a shorthand, of sorts. As opposed to having to do something over and over again, algebra gives you a simple way to express that repetitive process. It's also seen as a "gatekeeper" subject. Once you achieve an understanding of algebra, the higher-level math subjects become accessible to you. Without it, it's impossible to move forward. It's used by people with lots of different jobs, like carpentry, engineering, and fashion design. In these tutorials, we'll cover a lot of ground. Some of the topics include linear equations, linear inequalities, linear functions, systems of equations, factoring expressions, quadratic expressions, exponents, functions, and ratios.

Here’s a quick video to help with the preterite of some -IR stem-changing verbs that change from (e-ie) and (e-i) in the present tense. The Preterite is a verb tense in Spanish used to talk about actions that happened in the past and have already ended. And stem-changing verbs have an additional change in their stem (or part before the -ar, -er, -ir).

Please like the video and share with others who could benefit. More Spanish lessons coming.

It's true that dinosaurs disappeared thousands of years ago when a gigantic meteor struck and wiped them out. But what if we told you that one of them may have survived all these years and is currently living in Africa? This is what some residents of Congo claim, who report seeing a gigantic, scaly creature. In this video, we'll discuss this and other mysteries, as well as gather untold stories about extraordinary animals that once roamed the earth and continue to fascinate the modern world.

Students develop their understanding of air convection currents and temperature inversions by constructing and observing simple models. Engineers study temperature inversions and convection currents to understand why pollution levels may be higher in some areas than in others. They use this information to reduce pollution levels and determine new pollution prevention programs. They also study convection currents inside buildings to help improve indoor air quality that may be poor due to smoking or fumes from cleaning supplies. Convection currents help to circulate these pollutants, sending them outside of the building.

Do you know what a bar graph is? Or have you ever heard a pie chart? In Graphs for Kids, you and your kids will learn all about four basic graphs that people use to share data. You can use many types of graphs to display the same information. Sometimes it just depends on what you like best.

Pictographs use pictures to display data. For instance, if you studied how many students liked a specific field trip, you could create a pictograph to show the numbers. A certain picture would represent each student or a specific number of students. You could use a bar graph to share the same information. Instead of pictures, you would use bars, usually of different colors.

Another type of graph is the line graph. Line graphs are helpful in showing information over a period of time. For example, if you want to measure how tall you are at different ages, you can use a line graph to show your steady increase in height. The final graph you will learn about is actually called a pie chart. This is because it looks like a pie! The sizes of each "slice" depend on your data. If you interview 100 students about their favorite pet, and 50 of them like dogs the most, then half of the pie would represent students who prefer dogs.

We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about these basic graphs! If you want even more information, head over to our website and download one of our many free lesson plans, full of activities, worksheets, and more!
