Not everyone is a master at juggling numbers, but the subject isn't as complicated as it seems if you make use of simple maths tricks that will make solving any math problem a piece of cake!

To understand maths easily, the subject can be seen as a game of building blocks stacked on one another — the base must have a strong foundation to move into more complex concepts and tough applications.

A lot of students, as well as a lot of parents, are intimidated by math problems, especially if they involve large numbers and complicated calculations.

Math tricks help you learn techniques on how to solve questions quickly and can help students develop greater confidence in math, improve math skills and understanding.

The 11 rule is one of those magic tricks and methods that can be used to quickly multiply two-digit numbers by 11 in your head.
Separate the two digits in your mind.
Add the two digits together.
Place the number from Step 2 between the two digits. If the number from Step 2 is greater than 9, put the one's digit in the space and carry the ten's digit.

 Contains the Digits 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8

Select a number from 1 to 6.
Multiply the number by 9.
Multiply it by 111.
Multiply it by 1001.
Divide the answer by 7.
The number will contain the digits 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, and 8.

Introduction

Not everyone is a master at juggling numbers, but the subject isn't as complicated as it seems if you make use of simple maths tricks that will make solving any math problem a piece of cake!

To understand maths easily, the subject can be seen as a game of building blocks stacked on one another — the base must have a strong foundation to move into more complex concepts and tough applications.

A lot of students, as well as a lot of parents, are intimidated by math problems, especially if they involve large numbers and complicated calculations.there are some simple math tricks that can help you perform calculations more quickly and easily. Math tricks help you learn techniques on how to solve questions quickly and can help students develop greater confidence in math.
It is also important to consider how the concepts of maths are interconnected. What you learn about multiplication can be applied to division, which also applies to factors and multiples, which can be used to understand fractions. Mathematics tricks help find such connections between concepts and help you speed up calculations.

Maths tricks, when learned at an early age works like magic and helps students excel at academics as well as advanced courses opening up an array of opportunities for the future.
If you multiply 6 by an even number, the answer will end with the same digit. The number in the ten's place will be half of the number in the one's place. This ploy works effortlessly and students can add it to their collection of maths magic tricks!

Think of a number.
Multiply it by 3.

Add 6.
Divide this number by 3.
Subtract the number from Step 1 from the answer in Step 4.
The answer is 2.

Same Three-Digit Number

Think of any three-digit number in which each of the digits is the same. Examples include 333, 666, 777, and 999.
Add up the digits.
Divide the three-digit number by the answer in Step 2.

The 11 Rule

The 11 rule is one of those magic tricks and methods that can be used to quickly multiply two-digit numbers by 11 in your head.
Separate the two digits in your mind.
Add the two digits together.
Place the number from Step 2 between the two digits. If the number from Step 2 is greater than 9, put the one's digit in the space and carry the ten's digit.

If you prefer to read, rather than watch this video, here’s the transcript:

Title: Equivalent Fractions: Reducing Fractions to Simplest Terms

You’ve already learned how to reduce fractions by rewriting them with a smaller denominator, and you’ve learned how to find the greatest common factor of two numbers.
In this lesson, you’ll put both of these together to rewrite fractions with the smallest possible numbers. This is referred to as “reducing the fraction to simplest terms.” Before we begin, lets’ look at some new words we use when describing fractions.
The first one is term. Term is another way of saying “number”. Five is a term.
Three-fourths is a term.
And two and five-eighths is a term.
When we write a proper or improper fraction, the numerator is a term and the denominator is a term.
When dealing with fractions we also refer to simplest terms or lowest terms. These both mean the same thing. When a fraction is written in simplest terms, or lowest terms, it means the fraction is written with the smallest possible numbers for the numerator and denominator. A fraction is written in simplest terms when the greatest common factor of the numerator and denominator is one.
Here’s an example. Five-twelfths is written in simplest terms. The greatest common factor of 5 and 12 is one. This means neither the numerator nor the denominator can be written with a smaller number.
Another example. Seven-thirds is written in simplest terms. The greatest common factor of the terms is one, so seven and three are the smallest numbers that can be used to write the fraction.
Nine-fourteenths is written in simplest terms. The greatest common factor of the terms is one.
Six-eighths is not written in simplest terms. One is not the greatest common factor of the terms.
This means we can write this fraction with smaller numbers without changing its value. To find the new numerator and denominator, we need the greatest common factor of six and eight. Two is the greatest common factor. We can use two to rewrite the fraction and reduce it to its simplest terms.
We reduce the terms by dividing each term by the greatest common factor, which is 2. When we divide six by two we get three.
And when we divide eight by two we get four.
Three-fourths is the same fraction as six-eighths, but it’s now written in simplest terms.
When we reduce the terms of a fraction using the greatest common factor, we refer to this as “reducing the fraction to simplest terms”. The value of the fraction remains the same, but the numbers used to write it are smaller.
In the remainder of this lesson, you’ll be asked to determine if a fraction is written in simplest terms. If the fraction is not written in simplest terms, you will be asked to reduce the fraction.

Rainforests for Kids explores the world of these dense, wet regions of the world. There are two kinds of rainforests—temperate and tropical. Despite covering less than 3% of the earth's surface, rainforests are home to more than half the world's animal species! They are essential to life on earth because they help maintain the fresh water supply and provide oxygen to the atmosphere. The world's climate depends on rainforests!

When you compare temperate and tropical rainforests, you will find a few differences. Tropical rainforests are closer to the equator and are thus a little warmer and have more rainfall. Temperate ones are found in cooler coastal areas. You can find a rainforest in every continent except for Antarctica. The largest rainforest in the world is the Amazon rainforest. Over 20% of the earth's oxygen is produced by the vegetation there!

There are four layers to a rainforest: emergent, canopy, understory, and forest floor. Different animals live in different layers. Small monkeys and snakes, for instance, live at the top. At the bottom, you would find leopards, elephants, and gorillas. The video describes some interesting facts about three cool animals in particular. Keep watching to learn more!

We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about these amazing forests! If you want to learn even more, head over to our website and download one of our many free lesson plans about rainforests, full of activities, worksheets, and more!

Sometimes it's hard to distinguish whether something is a necessity or we just want that thing. Financial Literacy for Kids provides the basics about needs versus wants, budgeting, credit versus debit, and more. The points are easy to follow and understand. By the end, students will receive a good foundation of these points of financial literacy.

A need is something that is necessary to survival. Food, water, and shelter are needs because we need those things to survive. Wants include much more, from toys and books to phones and cars. While it can be difficult to tell the difference sometimes, these definitions will help you find the answer.

The video also reviews the concepts of saving versus borrowing. Saving money is something we do so that we can eventually buy something we want, like a new bike. This can take time. If you want something more immediately, you can borrow money. Borrowing money, however, means that you have to pay back the money you borrowed over time. And sometimes you have to pay interest.

Budgeting is a very helpful tool to help control or manage our finances. A budget designates a certain amount of money to go toward certain things. For instance, perhaps you budget $50 for food for a week. If you spend more money on food than you budgeted for that week, you may have to save money somewhere else to ensure you don't spend more money than you have and go into debt.

We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about these important skills! If you want even more information, head over to our website and download one of our many free lesson plans, full of activities, worksheets, and more!
