According to the Cambridge Dictionary, the word ‘gambit’ is defined as ‘a clever action in a situation that is intended to achieve an advantage that usually involves taking a risk’.
During Operation Acid Gambit, a disastrous rescue mission that was only supposed to take four and a half minutes and be one of the opening operations of the 1989 US invasion of Panama, Delta Force found themselves in a situation so sticky that it was sheer luck, rather than tactical gambits, that got them out alive.

The Minnesota Department of Revenue has two tax relief programs for families with children in kindergarten through 12th grade: the K-12 Education Subtraction and the K-12 Education Credit. The credit reduces your state income tax or increases your refund, while the subtraction lets you reduce your tax.
This video provides information and qualifications for both programs. To see more expenses that qualify for the K-12 Education Tax Credit or Subtraction, visit https://www.revenue.state.mn.u....s/k-12-education-sub or type "K-12" into the search box on our website at http://revenue.state.mn.us.
Improve your students' reading and writing skills by introducing them to a variety of synonyms with the synonyms list chart. This poster features an alphabetical list of commonly used words and their synonyms.
Use this chart with students in grades three through six to improve their vocabulary. An improved vocabulary will help increase reading fluency, word recognition, and diction. This poster comes with reproducible sheets, activities, and teaching tips on the back. The 17" x 22" size ensures that students will be able to see the poster from their desks or tables.
The chart from Trend Enterprises can also be used as a great starting point to discuss connotation and denotation with your upper elementary students. You can use it with student writing by asking them to use synonyms for often repeated words in their writing. When students become familiar with the chart, it can be used as background knowledge to teach students about using a thesaurus.
Specifications for the synonyms words poster:
Dimensions: 17" x 22"
Synonyms listed in alphabetical order
Reproducible sheets, activities, and teacher tips on back
Suggested grade range: 3rd to 6th
Suggested ages: 8 to 11

This is a quick tutorial on how to make your own interactive word wall for your elementary students using Makey Makey and Scratch. This idea was inspired by other teachers that attended a workshop from Tom Heck. (See their work here: https://goo.gl/BXE4sW ) My next step at school is to enlist my older elementary students to make personalized word boards for their younger reading buddies!
