Have you ever wondered how cracks form on the sidewalk? Or have you ever thought about what caused the Grand Canyon to be so big and wide? In this video, you and your kids will learn about weathering, the three types of weathering, and how they affect the earth.
Chemical weathering involves chemical reactions within the minerals inside rocks. Water, acids, and some gases contribute to chemical weathering. Mechanical weathering, or physical weathering, is caused by frost or ice, moving water, or the heat of the sun. The most common type of weathering involves water freezing in cracks in rocks. Speaking of the Grand Canyon, scientists believe it was caused by the Colorado River wearing down the rocks over the course of a long period of time. Biological weathering happens when plants and animals, as well as other living things, cause rocks to be broken into smaller pieces. Tree roots or burrowing animals like rabbits are great examples of why rocks might break as these biological influences affect them over time.
The end of this video contains a short review to test your knowledge. See if you can answer all the questions correctly!
We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about how the earth changes in these different ways! If you want to learn even more, head over to our website and download one of our many free lesson plans about weathering, full of activities, worksheets, and more!

The life cycle of a butterfly is one of the most amazing things in all of the natural world. In this video we help kids and students learn about butterflies and the 4 main stages of their life cycles, which are:
Stage 1 - All butterflies are born from eggs, which are attached to leaves. They only last for up to couple of weeks, or less, depending on the butterfly species. When hatched the first phase of a butterfly is being a caterpillar.
Stage 2 - Once the caterpillar is fully developed, it hatches from the egg. This is also called a larva. The stage lasts about 5 to 10 days. The caterpillar has strong jaws and eats leaves.
Stage 3 - In this Pupa stage, the caterpillar or larva attaches itself to a branch or the underside of a leaf. For a final time, the caterpillar sheds its skin and then begins metamorphosis, changing into a butterfly. It may take between 7 to 10 days for the butterfly to emerge from the pupa.
Stage 4 - When the full butterfly emerges it will live anywhere from just a week to nearly a year, depending on the species of butterfly. The butterfly’s goal is to reproduce and to lay eggs. The life cycle of the butterfly will begin again.
The life cycle of a butterfly truly is amazing! We hope you and your kids enjoyed the video. If you're looking for more resources about butterflies, download our free lesson plan, complete with more resources and activities. https://learnbright.org/lesson....s/science/butterflie

Do you know the difference between a right and responsibility? In this video, you and your kids will learn that, while they may seem similar, rights and responsibilities are actually pretty different. There are many rights and responsibilities, and some of them differ among various communities.
A right is something every human being deserves, no matter who they are or where they live. For example, everyone deserves food and water, clothing, and more. Responsibilities come with rights. These are things that a person must do or think about that may have an effect on other people. The two concepts do connect.
You have the right to go to school. But it is your responsibility to get out of bed and actually attend. You have the right to healthy food, but it is your responsibility to be home for dinner when it's time to eat. Not everyone has the exact same rights and responsibilities, however. You may have the right to stay up late some nights. But there may be a rule where you have to be responsible for doing chores and homework every day or else you can't stay up.
We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about these two concepts! If you want even more information, head over to our website and download one of our many free lesson plans, full of activities, worksheets, and more!

Verbs are a necessary part of virtually every sentence. There are only two kinds of verbs: action and being verbs. Do you know the difference between the two? In this video, you and your kids will learn the verbs that fall into the action group and the ones that fall into the being group.
A verb is a basic part of speech that shows an action, occurrence, or state of being. Action verbs show action or occurrence while being verbs describe a state of being. Most of the time, verbs show action. Examples include, run, play, study, go, drive, and chase. In the sentence My cat chases mice, what is the verb? You probably figured it out! Try switching the verb for another one and see how the sentence changes.
Action verbs essentially describe what someone or something did. Some verbs are a little less obvious. In the sentence Mom and Andrew went shopping yesterday, the verb is went. There are a ton of action verbs, but only eight being verbs! They are is, am, are, was, were, be, being, and been. It is a good idea to memorize this list so you can always remember the being verbs. As you can see, verbs are very important in sentences. Without them, sentences would fall apart!
We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning how to identify verbs! If you want even more practice, head over to our website and download any of our many free lesson plans about verbs, full of activities, worksheets, and more!

So, Wolfpack, we know you’re all stuck at home
Tryna’ do school while you’re sitting alone
You got packets, and books, that you might never read
But us teachers, we got you, we know what you need
We put lessons and work up online every day
To make sure that the stuff that you learned doesn’t stray
And we get that you might be confused how to stay
On top of it all so we’re here to convey
The best thing for you is your work’s in one place
Just log onto Clever, your online workspace
Start on Cuse homepage and library you click
And on the left side there is Clever, you pick
It brings up a box and you click on log in
It should look familiar, this a place that you been
Now put in your login and classes will load
It’s really that simple, there’s no special code
Your teachers have pages with lots of fun work
You’ll be wishin’ your mama gave you more housework
Make sure you login every morning to check
To see the new work that is next on the deck
You have work to be doing in class every day
So schedule your time to ensure you can play
If you ever need help, just give us a shout
We’ll show you what Wolfpack is really about
We’ve got worksheets we can put at the foot of your door
If your WiFi ain’t working, that’s what we’re here for
We have breakfast and lunch we can get to you too
At Brighton, we’re family, we’ll help you get through
Now some teachers weave and some teachers bop
We’re learning just how to teach from closed shop
We have LearnZillion, Castle, Canvas, myOn
And hundreds of others like Academy of Khan
We can use these cool sites or upload our own
But that doesn’t mean we can do this alone
We need kids to be workin’ and puttin’ in time
Corona ain’t makin us stop on a dime
We’ll keep grindin and learnin some more every day
From math class to art class and of course ELA
All of our teachers are sittin’ at home
Laptops on laps and eyes on our phones
Waitin and lookin to hear from you all
Cuz everything is closed so you aint at the mall
So put down the TikToks and dubsmash for now
We’ll give you some time for a break and some chow
But put in the effort and dig down real deep
Give us some work hours and then you can sleep
It’s crazy how fast things can change in a day
So work hard, play hard and this break we will slay
Make a checklist or schedule to keep right on track
So when we back in class our heads won’t be whack
Take snack breaks and brain breaks whenever you need
But don’t log off for long or you’ll never succeed
Take time for your family and go for a walk
But stay 10 feet away from the peeps on the block
We miss you already, but came up with a plan
To keep us together throughout this long span
We got facebook and twitter and now a TikTok
To send you reminders and so we can talk
About info and Brighton and important things
And to show you we’re cooler than all you kids think
We know that you miss us as much as we do
