What Is AI? | Learn all about artificial intelligence
What Is AI? | Learn all about artificial intelligence Teacherflix 4 意见 • 2 月 前

What exactly is artificial intelligence? Did you know there are different levels? This video for kids discusses how people use AI and outlines some of the the pros and cons of using it.

If you have used Siri or Google Assistant, or asked a question to Alexa, then you are using a form of artificial intelligence. These all use voice recognition and machine learning to answer questions and respond to requests. If you have ever contacted customer service online to get help, then more than likely, your conversation began with a chatbot, a computer-designed program that simulates human conversation. Chatbots were not always considered AI because they could not learn or adapt. However, chatbots have recently become more sophisticated and are increasingly using the power of AI learning.

There are several beneficial uses for AI, and even more when you pair AI with robotics. For example, we are automating tasks that are unsafe for humans, like mixing toxic chemicals. Many of the products we use today incorporate some form of AI in making the products. But AI is expensive, it can be weaponized, and it can result in the loss of jobs for humans, among other things. While none of us can predict the future, AI is here. What we cannot do is overestimate the power of good or underestimate the potential for disaster. Do the pros outweigh the cons? You'll have to decide!

We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about artificial intelligence! If you want to learn even more, head over to our website and download one of our many lesson plans, full of activities, worksheets, and more!

Democratizing AI: How Nebius Is Making AI Infrastructure Accessible for Everyone
Democratizing AI: How Nebius Is Making AI Infrastructure Accessible for Everyone Teacherflix 4 意见 • 2 月 前

In this episode of A Beginner’s Guide to AI, host Dietmar Fischer talks with Roman Chernin from Nebius, about how AI democratization is reshaping the enterprise world.

Roman reveals what it really takes to move from prototype LLMs to reliable, scalable AI platforms - and why most companies don’t need to train their own models to harness AI’s potential.

📧💌📧

From his early years at Yandex, where machine learning quietly powered maps and search, to helping Nebius build global AI infrastructure, Roman’s story is a blueprint for how cloud platforms can make AI accessible to everyone.

He explains how Nebius Token Factory enables businesses to deploy AI applications fast, how to navigate the minefield of compliance and cost, and why real success in AI comes from better collaboration and iteration — not from “being a genius.”

🚀 Key Highlights:

What democratizing AI means for modern enterprisesWhy infrastructure scaling 10× a year forces constant reinventionHow Nebius bridges the gap between OpenAI and open-source ecosystemsMaking AI usable for non-technical teams through better developer experienceWhy Europe still has a chance to catch up in the AI raceHow AI changes leadership, creativity, and collaboration

💡 Quotes from the Episode:

“The goal isn’t to build more data centers - it’s to make AI usable for people who aren’t AI experts.”

“You don’t need your own LLM. You need a problem to solve - and the right infrastructure to do it.”

“If you want to scale a system ten times, you don’t fix it - you rewrite it.”

“Compute is becoming the new electricity, but we don’t want to be just a utility company.”

“The real bottleneck isn’t GPUs - it’s making AI usable, compliant, and cost-efficient for real businesses.”

“We can’t forbid AI use; it’s already here. The real challenge is helping society adapt fast enough.”

Comets for Kids | Learn about where Comets come from and how they are formed!
Comets for Kids | Learn about where Comets come from and how they are formed! Teacherflix 14 意见 • 2 年 前

In this video we learn all about comets for kids. Students will learn where comets come from, how comets are formed, what comets are made of and many other fun and interesting facts about comets.

We learn that a comet in the outer parts of the Solar System is too small to be seen from Earth. You can think of a comet as a large snowball filled with or covered by dust, metal, and debris. They have an icy core, covered by a layer of black dust. The center is mainly composed of water and gases, frozen and mixed together with bits of rock and metal. The nickname for a comet can be a “dirty snowball”.

When a comet gets closer to the Sun, the ice melts and changes into a gas. Dust particles spread out around the nucleus in a cloud called a coma, and the Sun causes them to glow. The coma of an average comet is sixty thousand miles across, but it is also very thin. Radiation and the solar wind drive the gases of the coma away causing it to form a straight tail. The tail may grow to ninety-million miles in length.

Who Is Benjamin Franklin? | Learn about the life and accomplishments of Ben Franklin Teacherflix 7 意见 • 2 年 前

How much do you know about this famous historical figure from U.S. history? In this video, you will learn about his life growing up and his achievements as a politician and inventor. For instance, did you know he was the 15th of 17 children? And he stopped going to school at 10 years old. He spent the rest of his life learning on his own.

Something many people know about him is that he used to write letters about current events that he submitted to a newspaper that his brother owned. He used a pseudonym, or fake name—Mrs. Silence Dogood. Eventually, he ran his own newspaper called the Pennsylvania Gazette. This became one of the most successful newspaper in the 13 colonies!

Benjamin Franklin was the only American to sign all four of the major documents involved in the founding of the United States! These are the Declaration of Independence, a Treaty of Alliance with France, the Treaty of Paris, and the Constitution. He became an ambassador and diplomat to France, and he convinced the French to help America in their quest for independence from Great Britain.

Surely you know about Franklin's electricity experiment involving a kite, a key, and a lightning storm. Did you know he used two specific types of string in order for his experiment to work? One string needed to produce an electric charge while the other would remain dry and not produce an electric charge. Keep watching to find out more interesting facts about Benjamin Franklin.

We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed learning about George Washington Carver! If you want even more information, head over to our website and download one of our many free lesson plans, full of activities, worksheets, and more!

The Absurd Search For Dark Matter

Astronomers think there should be 5 times as much dark matter as ordinary matter – a shadow universe that makes up most of the mass in the universe. But after decades of trying, no experiments have found any trace of dark matter – except one.

A massive thanks to the wonderful people at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Dark Matter Physics https://www.centredarkmatter.org for showing us around and being on camera – Fleur Morrison, A/Prof Phillip Urquijo, Prof Elisabetta Barberio, Madeleine Zurowski and Grace Lawrence.
Thanks to Leo Fincher-Johnson and everyone at the Stawell gold mine for having us.
Massive thanks to Prof. Geraint Lewis – Geraint has been Veritasium’s go-to expert for anything astrophysics and cosmology related. Please check out his website, and buy his books, they’re great – https://www.geraintflewis.com
Thanks to Prof. Timothy Tait for the help to make sure we got the science right.
