Equal Parts | Math Lessons for 2nd Grade | Kids Academy
If your child is in the 2nd grade and if it’s time for him to learn about equal parts then you are at the right place. You see, if we talk about adults, it’s a piece of cake to tell if two parts are equal or not but when it comes to children, you need to do every possible thing you can to make maths interesting for them.
You can’t just go to your kid and define him what equal parts are. In fact, you need to show him what equal parts are and how to differentiate between equal parts and unequal parts.
Now, there are no doubt a lot of ways you can make this lesson interesting for your little one. You can use visuals to teach him about equal parts, you can use a worksheet to practice and feed in his brain about equal parts or you can just show him a video on Youtube where someone is teaching about equal parts using different characters and shapes, etc.

Now, show the child both of the papers and tell him that the one that is equal in shape, size and the one that is taking equal space is called the known as the equal part and the other one that’s not taking equal space and is a little different in shape in size, is referred to as the unequal part.

This phonics lesson from Kids Academy will teach your child all about the letter M. The letter M and its sound makes up many basic words. By adding this phoneme students can begin spelling words like MOM, BAM, and HUM. This video will cover both the capital and lowercase Ms as well as use the M as an example to start many words.
M is the 13th letter of the alphabet and is usually taught early on because it is used in so many simple words. The \m\ sound is also a simple sound for students to make. In order to make the \m\ sound the lips are closed, the tongue rests at the base of the mouth and the teeth are separated. The vocal cords are then vibrated just like a hum. This type of sound is known as bilabial nasal. It uses both lips (bilabial) and the sound itself resonates in the nasal cavities. The \m\ sound transitions well into vowels as in the word MOP and MOAT.
The \m\ sound and the
\ sound are both formed very similarly in the mouth. They also make similar sounds. It is for this reason that these letters are often taught separately to give students a chance to understand one without confusing it with the other.
Because the \m\ sound is so distinctive students should be able to quickly learn it. They will also be able sound out words with Ms with ease.

The discovered attack works just like discovered checks. In a discovered check you move a piece which reveals a piece behind that is attacking the king. The discovered attack is similar to that only that there won’t be any checks involved.
So, when you move a piece, the piece behind it will be creating a threat which means that we will be discovering a piece behind that can create a threat for the opponent. One interesting thing about this is that the piece that is being moved can also become a threat on its own.
Which means that in one move we are creating two threats for the opponent. Since this is a double threat at the same time, it becomes very difficult to defend yourself against such kind of a threat. So, with some intelligent moves, you can track your opponent pretty nicely.

Meet our chess lesson for kids: How Bishop Moves and Captures | Chess Lessons | Kids Academy
Bishop moves diagonally. its path can be imagined as an X on the board. It can move on an X on the board. Let’s see how bishop moves and captures and make an easy chess game for beginners.
How does it move?
The bishop can move along the X to as far as it wants. It can either move one step, two steps or all across the board as long as it moves on the X. It ends on the same colored square as where it started. It never ends on a different colored square. Each player gets two bishops. This comes as an advantage since the bishop moves is confined to half the board. So, at every time you have a bishop that can reach to any point of the board.
How it captures?
A piece of the opponent that falls in the diagonal or X of the bishop will be captured by it.
A piece on the opposite colored square can never be attacked by a bishop. So, if you have a king in danger from the bishops just move it to the opposite colored square than the bishops square and remove it from the bishop’s diagonal and your king will be safe.
Bishops cannot jump over pieces, only a knight can do that.
Bishops can move very smartly if the player knows how to play it smartly.
