The chess board is divided into rows and columns. The three most important things to understand on the chess board are the ranks, files, and diagonals. To make it easy as a chess lesson for kids online, ranks are the rows. There are 8 rows on a chess board.
The columns are called the files. There are also 8 files on chess board. The third very important thing is diagonal. It means from one corner of the chessboard to another end.

The diagonal is made up of 8 squares. There are also some short diagonals on board.
The chess board has light and dark colored squares. They can be any two different colors. They alternate in a pattern, light square followed by a dark square. These squares are very important for making chess strategies while playing.

When teaching the days of the week or months of the year, students learn much more than just the names of days and months. Kids Academy presents a days of the week song and months of the year song for preschool and early primary level students that is engaging, bright and fun.

The days of the week song shows Elephant on each day of the week doing fun activities. As the video plays, the lyrics to the song appear on the bottom of the screen. Emergent readers read and sing along, and younger students quickly learn the song with repetitive and predictable words.
The months of the year song also features Elephant on a walk through each month. As Elephant travels through the year, each month’s name is said. The animation provides students with activities and holidays specific to that month. In January, New Year’s Day is celebrated. The April scene shows Elephant gardening, and October is all about pumpkins and bats.

Children learn with these songs! Days of the week and months of the year are two of the first “time” concepts young children learn. Students learn sequence and also counting. With this knowledge, students better comprehend what and when activities, holidays, and events happen. In addition to math, students learn vocabulary. Knowing the names of days and months allows for better expressive language. Emergent readers learn to read the day and month words easily with the videos too. And finally, knowing how the seasons and holidays relate to each month provides students with social studies knowledge.

ABC letters for Kids | English Alphabet for Preschool & Kindergarten

Learn alphabet letters easily with this fun and instructional video from Kid’s Academy. The alphabet is the foundation for learning to read. Young learners at preschool and kindergarten learn to identify letters and the letter sounds. With this knowledge students understand that letters together with their sounds form words and students are on their way to learning to read. Mastering the English alphabet for kids is a huge task. Identifying all 26 letters and their sounds is simple with fun visuals!

The video opens with an introduction to the letter and the letter sound. The student sees the capital letter clearly and then the letter is drawn. The voiceover instructs the viewer on the name of the letter and then what sound the letter makes. The voiceover instructs the students to say the letter sounds themselves. If the letter is a vowel, then the student hears both the long sound and short sound and the video asks the student to repeat the sounds.

The video then moves on to give the student three examples of words that have the featured letter in the initial position. The student hears the initial sound enunciated clearly and the video encourages the student to say the word and sound together. The word examples are familiar words that students can remember easily when associating the letter and it’s sound to each word.
Learning the English alphabet for kids is sometimes a challenging task. Making reading instruction fun ensures that young students stay engaged and are not overwhelmed when trying to learn alphabet letters and sounds. Videos provide another option to enhance or enrich the teaching and learning experience. With this video, the student learns the name of the letter, the letter’s sound and three familiar words with that begin with the letter. After viewing, students are on their way to reading success!

So Jack and the dog went on. They hadn't gone very far when they met a cat.
"Where are you going, Jack?" asked the cat. "I'm going to seek my fortune," said Jack. "May I go too?" "Yes, certainly."
So Jack and the dog and the cat went on. They hadn't gone very much farther when they met a goat.
"Where are you going, Jack?" asked the goat. "I'm going to seek my fortune." "May I go too?" "Yes, if you like."

"Where are you going, Jack?" asked the cow. "I'm going to seek my fortune." "May I go with you?" "Certainly, you may."

"Where are you going, Jack?" asked the rooster. "I'm going to seek my fortune." "May I go with you?" "Certainly!” said Jack.
So they went on. They walked until it got dark, but they couldn't find a place to spend the night. At last, they came to a house.
Jack peeped through the window and saw some robbers. They were sitting around a table counting their money.
Then Jack told his friends to make the biggest noise they could. The dog barked, the cat meowed, the goat bleated, the cow mooed, the rooster crowed.
They made such a dreadful noise that it frightened the robbers, and they all ran away. Jack and his friends came in to have a good sleep.
The cat went to sleep on the armchair, and the dog lay under the table.
The goat went to the attic, and the cow was sent into the cellar. The rooster sat down on the roof, and Jack went to bed.
When the house went dark, the robbers sent one of their men to go back into the house and get the money they had left.
But soon he came running back, all scratched and very frightened, and told them an awful story.
“I came in and wanted to sit in the armchair. But an old woman there stuck her knitting needles into me."
That was the cat.
“I wanted to take the money from the table. But there was a shoemaker hiding under it, and he stabbed me with his awl.” And that was the dog.
“So I ran up the stairs to the attic, and an old woman with a sweeping brush knocked me right down again.”
That was the goat.

“Then I ran down to the cellar, but there was a man there chopping wood, and he hit me on the head with his axe.”
That was the cow.
“But the worst one was on the roof. There was a little man up there who shouted, "Throw him up to me! “ So I ran right away from there!”
That was the rooster.
The robbers were so frightened that they never went there again. And Jack and his friends stayed in the house as long as they liked.
