There are many descriptions of the big bang out there that are wrong. Anything that says the universe exploded from an infinitely small, dense and hot point, known as a big bang singularity, are out of date, but I’ve seen this description in many places on the internet and diagrams. I’ve even been guilty of saying this too! But I’ve recently updated my understanding, so here is what cosmologists actually mean when they say big bang.

Everyone is talking about the black hole image, which is amazing! But I've been wondering where actually is the black hole? So here it is. It is inbetween the virgo and leo constellations. Although you can't see it (unless you have a planet sized radio telescope array), it is still nice to know where it is.

I recently got to visit the anti-matter factory at CERN. This is the only place in the world where they've managed to make antihydrogen. This is antihydrogen. It's an atom of antimatter made of an anti electron, also known as a positron and an antiproton in the middle. This is arguably the most expensive material in the world, costing an estimated thousand trillion dollars per gram.
They have to be incredibly careful with this antimatter, because it's a kind of opposite matter to what our world's made from. So if the antimatter touches literally anything, it will annihilate, immediately turning all of its mass into pure energy. Fortunately, antihydrogen is slightly magnetic, so the scientists at CERN can stop it from touching anything by hovering it in a magnetic field called a penning trap.
After the Big Bang, half of the universe was made of anti-matter and the other half normal matter. According to many of our best theories of cosmology. But today we don't see any antimatter in the universe and is a mystery where it went. So making anti-matter in the lab means we can study its properties, which might give us some clues about what happened to half a universe’s worth of anti-matter.
This experiment I visited tested which direction antihydrogen would fall in gravity. Would it fall down like matter? Or because it's anti-matter? Would it fall up? Turns out it did fall down slightly. Disappointing, because now I can't invent hoverboards. But it's really cool for me to actually see the actual experiment from when all of that news came out. So it's pretty cool to be in an anti-matter factory.

I dette værksted skal eleverne øve sig i at trække større tal fra hinanden. De skal bruge deres strategier og metoder fra mine andre minusværksteder og således både holde styr på 1´ere, 10´ere og 100´ere med overgang imellem tallene.
I dette værksted øver eleverne sig fortsat i at "veksle i banken", så de kan løse minusstykker med overgange. 

Hvis dette værksted er for svært for de mindste elever, er det en god ide at gå tilbage til mine værksteder der øver minus med æggebakker og nummerbrikker. De kan også findes på hjemmesiden.

Spring Over er et sjovt lille spil fra min værkstedskasse “Hovedbrud”
Jeg bruger det som et break i undervisningen, som samtidig holder gang i de små grå hos mine elever.
Der går hurtigt sport i at udtænke gode strategier til at løse hele spillepladen, og det er faktisk ikke så let som det ser ud.

Kan du og dine elever løse en Rubiks Cube?

Det kan I hurtigt få lært, og der er super meget god matematik og hygge forbundet med løsningen af sådan en terning.
Eleverne får øvet sig i mange vigtige elementer. Først og fremmest i at koncentrere sig og prøve igen, når det ikke lige lykkedes med det samme.
Men også i at forstå og anvende de algoritmer der gør løsningen mulig.
Og de bliver så stolte, når det lykkes at løse første step eller den første hele side... og med tiden måske hele Cuben.

Monster er et sjovt spil der både kan bruges som break i undervisningen og som samtidig træner en masse gode ting hos eleverne.
De øver sig i talforståelse og i at holde styr på enere og tiere, i at veksle, holde regnskab og lægge sammen - alt sammen mens de hygger sig med spillet.
Mine elever oplever også spillet som en god social aktivitet, hvor de hjælper hinanden med at få vekslet inden monsteret kommer og napper alle deres enkroner.

Byg tallet er et godt lille værksted, når dine elever skal lære tallene fra 1-9 godt at kende.
Værkstedet er nemt at gå til, og der er rigtig god indlæring i at koble noget visuelt (at se tallet) og noget fysisk (at bygge tallet)
Værkstedet egner sig typisk til 0-1.klasse.
