This historical movie slideshow explains the foundation of American business competition. Visit http://www.ftc.gov/YouAreHere to learn more about the slideshow and to play games that demonstrate the effects of advertising and the benefits of competition.

The Federal Trade Commission deals with issues that touch the economic life of every American. It is the only federal agency with both consumer protection and competition jurisdiction in broad sectors of the economy. The FTC pursues vigorous and effective law enforcement; advances consumers' interests by sharing its expertise with federal and state legislatures and U.S. and international government agencies; develops policy and research tools through hearings, workshops, and conferences; and creates practical and plain-language educational programs for consumers and businesses in a global marketplace with constantly changing technologies.

More from Inside Edition: http://bit.ly/2bF0iuC

It was pomp and no consequence for a Pennsylvania high school student who took her her diploma and just kept on walking. Each of the graduates of Parkland High School in Allentown came on stage when their names were called and returned to their assigned seats... except for Tayler Michelle Gray. In a video that has gone viral this week, Gray proudly accepts her diploma and walks off the stage just like all the other students, poses for the official photo and then walked past her seat and out the door. #InsideEdition

Watch veteran educator, Liz Willingham, execute a sample 10-minute Demo Lesson during a teacher interview.

View the entire course at: https://www.getselected.com/co....urses/exemplar-demo-

Key Points
* This video clip was the sixth take for Liz. Itโ€™s important to practice the lesson repeatedly before executing in-person.
* Before recording the video, Liz had two minutes to write her information on the board.
* While there are only two students present in this clip, you still want to position yourself next to students so that hiring teams can better understand what teacher-student interactions will look like.

Insider Tips
* Before Demo Day, consider the things you will want to reflect on following the lesson. We always suggest collecting Exit Tickets and being ready to speak to the results.

In which John Green teaches you about the Progressive Era in the United States. In the late 19th and early 20th century in America, there was a sense that things could be improved upon. A sense that reforms should be enacted. A sense that progress should be made. As a result, we got the Progressive Era, which has very little to do with automobile insurance, but a little to do with automobiles. All this overlapped with the Gilded Age and is a little confusing, but here we have it. Basically, people were trying to solve some of the social problems that came with the benefits of industrial capitalism. To oversimplify, there was a competition between the corporations' desire to keep wages low and workers' desire to have a decent life. Improving food safety, reducing child labor, and unions were all on the agenda in the Progressive Era. While progress was being made, and people were becoming freer, these gains were not equally distributed. Jim Crow laws were put in place in the south, and immigrant rights were restricted as well. So once again on Crash Course, things aren't so simple.

In which John Green explores exactly when Rome went from being the Roman Republic to the Roman Empire. Here's a hint: it had something to do with Julius Caesar, but maybe less than you think. Find out how Caesar came to rule the empire, what led to him getting stabbed 23 times on the floor of the senate, and what happened in the scramble for power after his assassination. John covers Rome's transition from city-state to dominant force in the Mediterranean in less than 12 minutes. Well, Rome's expansion took hundreds of years, he just explains it in under 12 minutes. The senate, the people, Rome, the caesarian section, the Julian calendar, and our old friend Pompey all make appearances, but NOT the Caesar Salad, as Julius had nothing to do with it.
